Anthony Albanese

Anthony Eugene Albanese, 86, formerly of OldTappan, passed away at his home in Lutz, FL on Monday, November 26, 2012,surrounded by his loving family.  He is
predeceased by his parents, Leonardo and Concetta Albanese, and his sister
Antoinette Hallahan.

Mr. Albanese is survived by his beautiful and beloved wife of 64 years Barbara; his adoring daughters, Connie Marraro and her husband Chris of Germantown, MD, Lenore O’Connor and her husband Joe of Tampa, FL, Barbara Hopper and her husband Walter of New Ringgold, PA; his grandchildren,Christopher Marraro and his wife Janae, Liana Marie Schaffner and her husband Glenn, Tara Marie Daly and her husband Brian, Celia Marraro, Lindsay Courtney and her husband Kevin, Erica Hopper, and Elise Marraro and her fiancé Kristian Sorbo.  Lastly, Mr. Albanese was the very proud great-grandfather to his namesake Anthony Eugene Marraro, as well as Avalyn Marraro, Madison Courtney, and Liam Schaffner.  He is also survived by his sister Grace Tirelli of Closter, and his brothers, Charles Albanese and his wife Agnes of Northvale, Joseph Albanese and his wife Flora of Northvale, and Leonard
Albanese of Closter, along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends who meant the world to him.

Mr. Albanese was an avid and accomplished golfer, who earned a collection of trophies for his many holes in one.  A gifted mason and principal of Albanese
Brothers construction company in Northvale, he could design, build, and repair
anything, though his six granddaughters will always be most impressed by the
handmade dollhouses he lovingly crafted for each of them.  Mr. Albanese was a true patriot and veteran of the US Navy. As such, he lived by a code of honesty, generosity, and devotion to his home and the many lives that filled it.  He will be missed, and his memory cherished, by all those fortunate enough to have known, loved, and laughed with him.

Louis R. Distefano, Sr.

Louis R. Distefano, Sr., 74, of Northvale, entered into restful peace on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.  Louis grew up in the Inwood Section of Manhattan, the son of Emanuel and Lucy.

Louis was a sheet metal worker for 34 years and a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local28 for over 50 years.

On a blind date set up by his aunt and uncle he met the love of his life, Johanna.

Louis is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Johanna, and their son, Joseph.

He is survived by his six children;  Louis Jr. and his wife Theresa of Valley Cottage, NY, Cynthia Metzger and her husband Gene of Washington Twp., Lisa Ortelere of Northvale, Nadine of Suffern, Robert and his Carole of Wall, and Jim of Brooklyn.

Dear brother of Salvatore and Sarah and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Poppi was adored by his eight grandchildren; Brady, Logan and Kaidyn Distefano; Isabella and Emma Metzger; Joseph Ortelere; and Nicholas and Katie Distefano.  Poppi took great pride and joy in attending their many school activities and sporting events, and watching them grow into the fine young people they are.

Louis was an avid golfer and hunter, and enjoyed keeping up with the latest  technology.

He and Johanna were former members of the Northvale Volunteer Ambulance Corps and were parishioners of St. Anthony’s RC Church.  Throughout their lives they enjoyed traveling around the world and wintering in Naples, FL.

Louis will be missed dearly by all who knew him and loved him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 9:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, Northvale with entombment to follow at Madonna Mausoleum, Fort Lee.
Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral
Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.

Maureen Porschen

Maureen Porschen (nee Haverty), of Naples, FL, formerly of Northvale, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at the age of 68.  Beloved wife of William.  Loving
mother of Eric Porschen of Naples, and Drew Porschen and his wife Susan of
Northvale.  Dear sister and sister-in-law of Kathleen and Frank Vozeh of Sevierville, TN.

Maureen adored her grandchildren, Taylor Porschen of Naples and Allyson and Rebecca Porschen of Northvale.

Maureen epitomized all the good times a family could embrace.  She was raised by the late Agnes and Ed Haverty of Little Ferry, and like her parents, provided a loving and caring environment even in the toughest of times.  Family was everything to her,
and for this we are so thankful to have had her in our lives.  From the church dances to family gatherings, Maureen was front and center lending a hand, always with a smile.  She cherished all her family and friends.

Maureen always paid tribute to family and friends who have passed and now we pay tribute to her.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R.Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale.

Louise Sohlman

Louise Sohlman (nee Schneider), 83, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012.  Beloved mother of Wayne and his wife Carol Ann.  Loving grandmother of Stephanie John and Robert Sohlman.  Adored great-grandmother of Ethan and Matthew John.  Dearest sister of Margaret Sucick of Old Tappan and the late Shirley Bloyd.

Before retiring, Mrs. Sohlman worked for Prentice Hall in Old Tappan.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY.  Visiting hours are Wednesday 10 – 11 AM.
