Dennis E. Hayes, 76, of New York, NY, formerly of Palisades, passed away on August 6, 2015. Beloved husband of Leslie (nee Price). Devoted father of Jennifer and her husband Michael Gregory of Alpharetta, Georgia, Katherine Hayes, of Wichita, Kansas, Elizabeth and her husband Stephen Elliott, of Winnetka, IL, and Elan and her husband Jeffrey Barish of NY, NY. Adoring grandfather of Wesley, Kirk, Emma, Aletka, Nicholas, Caroline, Sunny, Bennett and Graham. Dear brother of Donna Patricia Hart and her husband Sam. Before retiring in 2008, Dennis was a Professor of Marine Geophysics at Columbia University, NY, NY. He was a Guggenheim Fellow, an AGU Fellow and a NSF Fellow. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 11:00 AM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., Northvale, NJ (201-767-3050). The family will receive friends and relatives at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
