June M. Groll

June M. Groll (nee Reilly) “Mama June”, 81, of Orangeburg, formerly of Tappan, passed away at Joe Raso Hospice surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 5, 2017. June was the devoted mother of Kimberly Allen of Tappan, Richard Allen of Sparkill, Dana (Allen) Gabrielson of Sparkill and Rob Brennan and his wife Cheryl of Nebraska. She was the cherished grandmother of Kyle Boyce, and Sophia, Elizabeth and James Brennan. Dearest sister of Dick Allen of Ohio and the late Jack Reilly. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and was a “special mother” to Donna Brown.

June was a former Orangetown Councilwoman and a district manager for the County of Rockland for many years. June cared deeply for everyone she knew whether you were family, friend, or a member of the community and was always willing to help those in need.  She loved singing in St. Johns choir, her membership in Catholic Daughters, laughing with family and trips to Atlantic City.  She cherished living in the Hudson Valley and all the beauty it held.  Finally, she would not want you to stand by her grave and weep.  She is not there.  She is a thousand winds that blow, diamond glints on the snow, sunlight on the ripened grain, and the gentle autumn rain.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the Tappan Reformed Church, Tappan, NY. Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ (201-767-3050).

Beautiful tribute to your Mom. We are so sorry we can’t be there but know you are holding a special place in our hearts. May you all find comfort in knowing she is at peace and is now looking over you. God Bless

  3. We loved June. She was such a devoted aunt to her eldest nephew, Mike, my husband, and to me. She always remembered birthdays and special occasions and was so interested in our lives and those of our kids. We were fortunate seeing her in Cleveland several times during her beloved reunions with old friends and classmates in Lakewood, Ohio. We took her to dinner on Cleveland’s “Gold Coast” right on Lake Erie and she so enjoyed that. We will miss you, June. You were a real live wire, honey. I will always remember our crazy night in NYC at Rosie O’Grady’s!! Shedding a tear for you and your loved ones. Our deepest sympathies to Dana, Kim, Richard, and all the family.
    Lots of love, Fiona

  4. I remember doing hand stands with June on a hot summers night.Such a cool woman.

  5. One summer Aunt June showed up in her black Cadillac and took her nieces Colleen and me Terri on a shopping trip!! Later we flew to montreal? And had a blast in the fancy hotel. Aunt June was a lot of fun!! to say the least. Kim and I got to sit on the jersey shore beach and have a lazy summer day. So many memories and her beautiful smile. All treasures to remember. Love, Terri Reilly Roberto

  6. Thank you Aunt June for showing a little girl the world. For loving me and my brothers and sisters unconditionally, for being so cool, for introducing us to adventures — for your laugh, resilience, wise take on things, for so many other important things that I don’t realize or forget until you are gone. You are in my heart and always will be a part of my life. My love to Dana, Kimberly and Richard — we shared so many great memories when we were young that stick around for ever. Love and joy for who she was to so many people!

  7. Dear Kim, Dana, Richard, Kyle and Family, my deepest sympathies for your loss. I only wish I could have been there to say goodbye to June. She will always be remembered by me as being forever young at heart!
