It is with great sadness that the family of Christopher A. Vetere announces his passing on Friday April 10, 2020, at the age of 79. Christopher will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ann Loretta (Nardis) Vetere, adored daughters, Loretta T. Vetere of Valley Cottage, NY and Theresa M. Carullo of Montville, NJ, beloved grandson Anthony J. Carullo, dear brother Vincent Gallo (Alba), and sister Maryann Lanzano (Paul). He is also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews.
Chris was born and raised in the Bronx. He served honorably at the Westchester County Department of Corrections, Valhalla, NY retiring as a Sergeant after 32 years. He was head of the Honor Guard and Medical Unit of Ward 29, served as a member of the Tactical Team and Transportation Department. He also was a member of the F.O.P. Mid-Hudson Lodge 188.
Chris also volunteered, for over 20 years, with the Cresskill Fire Department. He was very proud of his service to the community.
Chris was a passionate man who loved his family. He kept close relationships with his nieces, nephews, and cousins. One of his most beloved qualities was his infectious smile and he was loved by everyone. He adored his Rottie Max and enjoyed hunting and horseback riding. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Those who wish to remember Chris in a special way, may donate to the Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey in his honor.
I knew Chris for just a few years but got a sense of what rightfully proud man he was. His children are gems and mustered great strength for him. This is his legacy to the world -caring, competent, and strong daughters.
I new Chris for long time,we became friends when we live next to Itch other,our kids play together on Bay Chester ave near 233 st in the Bronx.the was 1963,and we stay friends all that time even when I move to Arizona Chis and Ann came to see us many times.he was my Best friend and Ian going to miss him for ever.Love you Chris.

Chris was a role model for me when I was a teenager. I worked with him at his stepfather’s ( my Uncle Vinny) service station and got to know him as a friend, not just a cousin. He taught me mechanical skills but more than that he showed me how to respect and get along with all kinds of people, even those who were difficult. We had a lot of fun together and I can say that I never heard anything other than praise and admiration for him. My wife, Patricia, and I hope that his memory in our hearts and prayers for him and his sweet Ann will help comfort her and that Jesus will reward him for his wonderful life.

Believe it or not, I only met Chris when he was on his honeymoon in 1962, and he made quite an impression on me, a twelve-year old girl! He was fun, funny, and very talented–he could bark like a seal when in the water. I’m sure he made a wonderful father to Loretta and Theresa, grandfather to Anthony, and a loving husband to Ann Loretta–our forever family friend.
