Stanley Henry Straub, 83, of Norwood, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Jacqueline Rose Straub. Loving father of Suzanne Brittany Whalen and her husband Jason, and the late John Martin Straub. Adored grandfather of William Jackson Whalen and Jack Henry Whalen. Dedicated son of the late Arthur M. Straub and Muriel M. Straub. Dear brother of Arthur M. Straub, Jr. and his wife Charlene, and the late John William Straub. Cherished brother-in-law of Lillian
and John Skoda. Caring uncle of Julie Skoda and her husband Andie, US Navy Chief Warrant Officer Kurt Straub and his wife Christy, and Ashley Picaman and her husband Jeff. Devoted friend of Charles Moran, Judy Velleman, and Jerry O\u2019Brien, as well as the late Walter \u201cMoe\u201d Moser, Richard \u201cDick\u201d Tarbox, Robert Velleman and Carlo Conti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stanley was a life-long resident of Norwood. Upon graduating Northern Valley Demarest High School, he enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he proudly served on active duty for 3 years, followed by more than 30 years in the New York Army National Guard, Delta Company 101 st Signal Battalion where he achieved the rank of Platoon Sergeant of the 4th Platoon. He was responsible for the training, development and operation of approximately 40 platoon members who installed and repaired all of the communication wire systems in the company. He cherished his time with Delta Company and leaves behind countless brothers in arms, as well as many who have gone before him. Stanley worked as a mason\/bricklayer for almost 30 years. Upon retirement from masonry, he worked in the maintenance department of Englewood Hospital, followed by the groundskeeping department of Rockland Country Club. He was also an active member of Norwood American Legion Post 272, where he spent most of his time in recent years enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visiting hours are Friday, September 4, 2026 from 3-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home, with interment and funeral honors to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
