Patrick T. \u201cPaddy\u201d\u00a0Sullivan died\u00a0peacefully at home on January 15, 2018.\u00a0Paddy\u00a0was born in\u00a0Manhattan, NY on December 7, 1938\u00a0and\u00a0grew up and spent nearly his entire life as a\u00a0resident of Tappan, NY. He\u00a0attended Tappan Zee High School\u00a0and was a devoted Catholic and lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church\u00a0in Tappan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Upon graduating high school, Paddy worked at Orangeburg Pipe in Orangeburg, NY. \u00a0When his father Leonard died suddenly\u00a0in 1961,\u00a0twenty-one year old\u00a0Paddy quit his job to help his mother, Mary Edna manage the family business Sullivan\u2019s Tappan Inn and to\u00a0help\u00a0support his younger siblings.<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

On August 18, 1962,\u00a0Paddy\u00a0married the love of his life Kathleen (Giblin) Sullivan and together they lovingly raised their four sons and continued to operate\u00a0Sullivan\u2019s\u00a0for nearly thirty years.\u00a0Their staff and customers were their dearest friends and extended family. \u00a0In addition,\u00a0Paddy\u00a0loved his home town and proudly\u00a0served his community as a commissioner and honorary member of the\u00a0Tappan Fire Department\u00a0which became another group of dear friends to him.<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Paddy\u00a0is survived by his loving wife, Kathy\u00a0and his sons and daughters-in-law\u00a0Patrick and Theresa (Moran) Sullivan of New City, NY, Brian and Cindy (Roper) Sullivan of Eagan, MN,\u00a0Joseph and Jennifer (O’Brien) Sullivan of Tappan, NY and Barbara (Quinn) Sullivan of Tappan, NY. \u00a0Paddy is predeceased by his beloved son, Leonard \u201cLenny\u201d Sullivan.\u00a0\u00a0He is also survived by his beautiful granddaughters \u201cPop\u2019s Girls\u201d Lauren, Maggie, Devin, Colleen, Danielle, Kathleen, Grace, Olivia, Tara,\u00a0Erin, Deirdre, Katherine\u00a0and\u00a0his\u00a0loving grandsons\u00a0Thomas\u00a0and Frank. \u00a0Few men have\u00a0loved and\u00a0enjoyed their grandchildren\u00a0as much as Paddy\u00a0did.<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

He is also survived by\u00a0his\u00a0sisters,\u00a0Sr.\u00a0Anne\u00a0Sullivan, O.P.,\u00a0Sr. Mary\u00a0Agnes\u00a0Sullivan, O.P., Edna\u00a0and husband Mark Ciganek,\u00a0Eileen Kavanagh, brothers,\u00a0Cornelius Sullivan\u00a0and\u00a0Brendan\u00a0Sullivan and sister-in-law, Anne Giblin. Paddy was\u00a0predeceased by\u00a0his\u00a0parents Mary Edna and Leonard Sullivan of Tappan, and\u00a0his\u00a0brothers, Hugh,\u00a0Leonard,\u00a0Michael, and Thomas and brother-in-law, John Giblin.\u00a0He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Paddy\u00a0was larger than life and he had more friends and stories than\u00a0anyone can count. \u00a0Having\u00a0lived in Rockland County\u00a0nearly his whole life,\u00a0it seemed he knew everyone\u00a0and\u00a0he\u00a0was known unofficially\u00a0by his friends\u00a0as the \u201cMayor of Tappan.\u201d \u00a0Despite managing his own business\u00a0and caring for\u00a0his family, Paddy always had time to help anyone in need. \u00a0If someone asked\u00a0for assistance, Paddy\u00a0would\u00a0instantly\u00a0drop what he was doing\u00a0and\u00a0be out the door\u00a0famously saying, \u201cI\u2019ll be right back!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Paddy\u2019s friendly face, hearty laugh and his\u00a0kind and generous spirit\u00a0is what he will be most remembered for.\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Visitation will be held Friday,\u00a0January\u00a019th<\/span><\/span> 3-8pm<\/span><\/span> at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ<\/a>. (201-767-3050<\/a>). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am<\/span><\/span> on\u00a0Saturday, January 20th<\/span><\/span> at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, NY. Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY.<\/span><\/p>\n

In keeping with Paddy’s giving spirit, memorial donations may be made to the Tappan Firemen’s Welfare Fund, 123 Washington St., Tappan NY 10983<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 120 Western Highway, Tappan, NY<\/a>\u00a0or any charity of your choice.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
