Arthur William \u201cBill\u201d Ryan, 78, of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of May 2, 2018. Bill was born on July 26, 1939, in Timmins, Ontario, to Lois Rogers, and had a younger brother, Grant, who predeceased him. Bill was married to Catherine Ryan (nee Dorney) and had a daughter, Julie Ryan. Bill was a Vice President for A.C. Nielson for over 30 years, before retiring to his favored activities including golfing, fishing, and socializing with friends. In his younger years, Bill held Canadian titles in Enduro Racing, was a competitive Side Car Racer, and was an avid hockey player and well-loved coach. Even into his 60\u2019s, Bill would love to play hockey with the local teenagers at Stone Point Park, in Old Tappan. Later in life, Bill could be found fawning over his beloved granddaughter, Ella; wrangling golfers as a ranger at River Vale Golf Club; paling around with his loyal four legged side kick, Luna. Bill is survived by his wife, Cathy, his daughter, Julie, and his granddaughter, Ella; and many beloved relatives in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 9:30 AM at St. Pius X RC Church, Old Tappan. Visiting hours are Friday 5-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).<\/span><\/p>\n

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill\u2019s memory to your local animal shelter would be greatly appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n
