Roger C.\nFriedman, P.E., 96, of Northvale, entered eternal life on Saturday, December\n21, 2019. Beloved husband of Dolores (nee Argenti) for 63 years. Devoted father\nof Therese Jones and husband Thomas of Norwood, Catherine Navilio and husband\nJohn of Goshen, NY and Patricia Adone and her late husband Michael of Park Ridge.\nProud grandfather of Alyssa and John Navilio. Also survived by many nieces and\nnephews including Vito DeLaura whom he considered to be the brother he never\nhad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger was\nraised in Richfield Park where he attended St. Francis Elementary School and went\non to board at the Anderson School for Boys in Hyde Park, NY for his high\nschool years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was part\nof \u201cthe greatest generation\u201d as a US Army Veteran of WWII. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He graduated\nfrom the University of Alaska, Fairbanks earning a bachelor\u2019s of science degree\nin engineering in 1950 and began a career with the Army Corp of Civil Engineers\nthere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger\nreceived a job transfer to the New York office, so that he could return to New\nJersey to marry his sweetheart Dolores in 1956 and settled in Northvale where\nthey happily raised their three girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a 35\nyear career as a professional engineer, with the Army Corps of Civil Engineers\/FEMA,\nhe retired and then began working for the State of NJ, and finally retired at\nage 76. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger was an\navid sports spectator and armchair coach, he watched it all. His favorite sport\nwas baseball. He was a Mets fan from the franchise\u2018s inception and was at the\nwinning 1969 World Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger had\nstudied meteorology in College and it became a lifelong hobby. His favorite\nweather season was winter. Roger always looked forward to the first snow storm\nand enjoyed watching it fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was a\nparishioner at St. Anthony\u2019s Church, Northvale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faith was\nhis anchor. He was admired for his layback positive \u201clet\u2019s see what happens\u201d attitude\nand took life as it came in stride. Over the years, Roger faced several health\nchallenges especially his vision and always showed tremendous resiliency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roger\u2019s\nfamily would like to express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and the\ncaregivers who so lovingly cared for him throughout his hospitalizations and\nrehab stays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visiting\nhours are Friday, December 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120\nParis Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on\nSaturday at 10 AM at St. Anthony\u2019s Church, Northvale with entombment to follow\nat Madonna Mausoleum, Fort Lee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
