Marjorie Vitale (nee Young), 90, of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Norwood, NJ and Fort Lee, NJ, passed away peacefully after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Vitale. Loving mother of Frank Vitale and his wife Catherine, Ellen Vitale and the late Steven Vitale. Cherished aunt of David Levitt and wife Ellen and dear mother-in-law of Susan Frederick. Beloved sister of the late Vi, Thelma, Betty and Clifford. 

A hard-working woman, Marjorie retired from Volvo in Rockleigh, NJ after many years in the accounts receivable department. Prior to Volvo, she had worked at Volkswagen and Phillips-Norelco. She was a wonderful wife and mother and loved keeping in touch through Words With Friends and playing Bridge.

Visitation is Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 3-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale. A graveside service will be Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11 AM at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.

Henry J. Sullivan “Hank”, 91, of Blauvelt, NY, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Crothers). Loving father of three sons, James and his wife Lorraine, Thomas, and Daniel and his wife Allyson. Proud grandfather of Malcolm and Owen. Dear brother of the late Rev. James Harold Sullivan and Margaret Finley. Dear uncle to Jennifer, Jeff, Michael, and Kathleen Finley, and great uncle to Kelly and R.J. Blanchfield.
Hank was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and retired from the NYPD as a Lieutenant, having served in many locations including the Police Academy and the 44th and 48th Precincts. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Catharine of Alexandria, Blauvelt, NY.
A devoted family man, Hank cherished family gatherings filled with laughter, love, and shared meals. He had a deep love of reading, which kept his mind sharp and his curiosity alive throughout his life. His passion for fitness, particularly bike riding and walking, kept him active well into his later years. A lover of life’s simple pleasures, he enjoyed good food, fine wine, and had an irresistible sweet tooth.

Ana Librada Ramos (née Nazario), 100 years old, of Orangeburg, NY, was called to eternal rest on Thursday, November 21, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Angel M. Ramos, a proud veteran.  

Born in Rincón, Puerto Rico, Ana arrived in New York City in 1946, where she quickly established herself as a strong, determined, and wise young woman. A graduate of beauty school, Ana worked as a skilled beautician before transitioning to entrepreneurship with her husband, managing successful grocery stores throughout their years together.  

Ana was the cherished mother of Gladys Amin and Sister Brunilda Ramos, MPF; loving grandmother to Jennifer and Sharif Amin; and proud great-grandmother to Soluna and Elias Chan. Her unwavering strength, boundless love, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.  

We are grateful for the many years we shared with her and take comfort in knowing she now rests peacefully in the embrace of our Lord. May her soul find eternal peace in His kingdom until the day of Resurrection.  

We love you always.

Loretta “Casey” Maloney, 85, of Tappan, NY, passed awaypeacefully on Sunday, November 17th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  

Born in the Bronx, NY, on November 18, 1938, Loretta graduated from Stella Maris High School in Rockaway, NY, and Fordham University College of Pharmacy, distinguishing herself as one of only a few women in her graduating class.  Her noted career began at Bellevue Hospital and spanned local pharmacies before concluding with service to the State of New York, where she compassionately served vulnerable patient populations, freely giving her time and expertise.  

Loretta was the heart of the family and though she held many roles in her life, her favorite was being a wife, mother and grandmother.  Married to her beloved late husband Francis for 55 years, she raised four children in a loving and happy home.  Gifted with a joyful spirit, she enjoyed nothing more than celebrating her grandchildren at sporting events, sacraments, academic award ceremonies, graduations, and musical performances.  She delighted in their daily calls, visits and texts.  

Loretta’s warmth and kindness were contagious. Her cherished friendships encompassed all parts of her life—from mahjong games, to coffee at Dunkin Donuts, to poolside chats at the swim club. Each friendship was incredibly special to her. Loretta’s laugh and warmth bounced off the walls of every room she entered, and her true joy was connecting with others.  

She had a heart of gold, deeply steeped in her faith, and never hesitated to help others—to open the pharmacy in the middle of the night or lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend. Though no longer with us, Loretta’s spirit will continue to uplift us as we carry forth her incredible legacy of love and compassion.  

Loretta is survived by her loving children Julianne Maloney (Nelson Torres), Caseyanne Bombassei (Jim), Stephen Maloney (Alexis), Deirdre Humer (Ron); her loving siblings Frank Curtin (Joann) and Marilyn Rienecker (William); and her treasured nine grandchildren Matthew, Alexandra, Devon, Connor, Ryan, Jack, Caitlin, Logan, and Madison. Loretta was predeceased by her sister Eileen McCarthy (Thomas) and her parents, Loretta and Frank Curtin.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, November 22nd, from 3–7 pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23rd, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sacred Heart, 120 Kings Highway, Tappan, NY, with internment to follow at Tappan Cemetery.

Frederick M. Hoehn, 76, of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Beloved husband of Emilia “Amy” Hoehn. Loving father of Christopher and his wife Victoria and Jennifer. Proud grandfather of Ella, Chloe and Oliver. Dear brother of Carol Rumak and husband Peter and the late George Hoehn. Dear brother-in-law to Karen Perrucci , Roselle Perrucci and Jeannie Nabreszki,  Richard and Regina Elfers and Michael and Annette Perrucci and uncle to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Fred was an entrepreneur and had been the founder of Able Rolling Steel Door Company in addition to his many other ventures.

Peter DeStefano “Pebo”, 86, of Tappan, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Beloved husband of 66 years to Dorothy (nee Rubbo). Devoted father of Donna Grasso and her husband Mario, Annette Ciallella and her husband Ricky, Pete DeStefano and his wife Alisa and Joe DeStefano. Proud Pebo to Nicole and husband Mike, Alexandra and husband Mark, Jessica, Marissa, Jenna and husband Dominic, Alexa, Jake, Sofia, Angelina, Jovanna and the late Richard. Great-grandfather of Cru, Penelope and Luca. Brother-in-law of Helen and Kathy. Predeceased by his sisters, Faustina Pagnotta, Mildred Prisco, and Marie DeStefano, brothers, Michael DeStefano and Joseph DeStefano.

Pete was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a loyal friend to many. After graduating high school, Pete attended the NY School of Printing and opened his first business at the age of 21. He owned and operated Alpine Labels in the Bronx before retiring. Always active, Pete was a member of Rockland Country Club, Sparkill, Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176, Blauvelt, the Friars Club and the Nyack Hospital Foundation. He was also the founder of Bright Future Foundation for Autism as well as the Ron Greschner Foundation. Pete was also a passionate Thoroughbred owner and breeder for many years and loved animals of all kinds, especially his favorite dog Paulie. Pete was a masterful storyteller and loved jokes and kidding around, especially with his grandchildren. He was fun-loving, generous and touched the lives of everyone he met.

Alice Keshian was a resident of Northvale, NJ dating back to 1961 when she purchased the home in town with her husband Charles Keshian. They discovered the house in Northvale from an advertisement in the NY Times soliciting buyers to the new development. Alice met her husband at an Armenian-American student association event in the 1950s. In 1957, they wed and resided in Charlie’s hometown of Paterson, NJ before moving to Northvale. Alice also briefly taught 3 rd grade in the local school district there.
Alice Keshian (Nishanian) was born on April 22, 1932 to parents Armen and Aznif Nishanian. They resided in Astoria, Queens with older daughter Virginia, who predeceased her. There are fond stories of the two sisters playing in the park underneath the Hell’s Gate bridge. Alice also has a younger brother Armen Nishanian who now lives locally in Westchester County, N.Y.. The family moved to Valley Stream, Long Island in 1939. Alice graduated from Central High School in Valley Stream in 1948 and obtained a bachelors degree from Hunter College (CUNY) in elementary education. After graduation, Alice worked at Guaranty Trust Bank in Brooklyn for a number of years.
Alice bore three children over the years, Brooke Ann Keshian, Allen Keshian and Paul Allen Keshian. She is survived by her son Paul A. Keshian and her brother Armen Nishanian, both of whom played active roles in her lifestyle in her later years.
Alice was a social spirit with different groups of friends from her upbringing in Long Island, to her Stonybrook Swim Club pool friends in Hillsdale, NJ to her myriad bridge groups in Cresskill, NJ, Tappan, NY and Oradell, NJ. She looked forward to playing bridge and credits the game to her health in her golden years. She learned the game from the neighbors that lived behind the house that subsequently moved away to North Carolina in the 1970s. She became quite proficient at the game. One of her partners commented that Alice was not afraid to “bid” aggressively upfront and that Alice & partner did indeed make the bidded hand on occasion! This partner liked that spirit about Alice; she played the game the right way, the way more seasoned players did in the country clubs. She attacked life that way as well. One time in Cancun she went parasailing as her husband Charlie watched meekly from the beach ( he did not like heights). She enjoyed Broadway plays and travelling all over the United States and World with Charlie in the 1980s and 1990s. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed books on all different topics. The books transported her to far-away places despite the fact that her body betrayed her in the later years.
Alice navigated the vicissitudes of life better than most and her inimitable good cheer did not go unnoticed by the people that both knew her and the challenges that she had faced at various stages of life. She had a unique wisdom that only life can teach over the years. The wisdom shed light on her joyous spirit which allowed her to both live “in the moment” as well as take a sincere interest in the lives of everyone she met. It is this calm demeanor that stood out. She never complained about anything or anyone. In her golden years, she lived her best life walking in the park, swimming, cooking, eating out, and participating in holiday events with the family as the elder stateswoman ( Easter, birthdays, Thanksgiving , Christmas). She was able to drive into her 90s and take care of herself into her 90s. She was fiercely independent. She was also able to converse with friends and strangers of all ages fluently (at the park, at the pool etc). She looked younger and she acted younger than her age. She lived on her own terms. She slept late. She ordered Scotch at restaurants and ate steak and ice cream in Piermont into her 90s. She walked around Lowes in the winter for exercise. She was innately social. She was lovely. She was a treasure to her family and friends and her indelible spirit will be missed. She lived a beautiful life.

Not every man can turn a house into a home, but Frank George Mauro Jr. was born with the unique ability to do so. Gifted with a soul that could uplift any spirit, a stranger would quickly become family. No situation was too serious, nothing broken was irreparable, no frown would last forever. On November 7^th, 2024, Frank Mauro parted the world. But the impact he made in so many hearts will never be forgotten.

Born on August 7^th, 1944, Frank served many roles throughout his 80 years of life: son, devoted husband, loving father, “Pop,” uncle, friend, neighbor, councilman, police-commissioner, soda-man, handy-man, contractor, bodysurfer, brother, and so much more.

Frank will not only be survived by his wife, the love of his life: Ellie Mauro, his children: Elisa (& Adam), Frankie (& Jessica), and Joseph (& Heather), grandchildren: Vincent, TJ (& Dani), Victoria, Blake, Bella, and Frank III, and brother: Anthony Mauro; but by every heart he has touched over the course of his 80 years of life. Everybody loved Frank.

Despina “Diane” Proios (nee Roussetakis), 91, of Jackson, NJ, formerly of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024.  Beloved wife of Steve Proios.  Loving mother of Nicholas and wife Julie, Jason and wife Mandy and the late Paul.  Caring grandmother of Ryan Proios.  Proud sister of Nicholas Russell and wife Myra and Corrine Helland.  Adored aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Diane was a secretary for Otis Elevator in Montvale, NJ for many years.  She was also an active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Orthodox Church in Bergenfield, NJ before moving to Jackson.

The family will be gathering at St. Anthony’s Orthodox Church, Bergenfield, NJ, on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 10:30 AM.  A Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM followed by burial at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.

Mark Fiedler, 66, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024. He was the loving father of Kelly Zavodsky and her husband Chris, Jill Fiedler and Tyler Fiedler. Cherished brother of Cindy Schama and her husband Joe. He is also survived by his partner Carol Leeman.

Mark worked for the Old Tappan DPW and was due to retire this spring. He was a dedicated life member of the Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department and was President and an Ex-Chief. He was a hard-working, honest man who was always the first to lend a hand in times of need. He will be remembered by all who knew him.
