
Paul Torello, Age 82, passed away on August 3, 2025, in North Carolina after a long and courageous battle fighting cancer.
Paul was born on 11/22/42 in Nyack, New York to Joseph and Elsie Torello and was raised in Northvale, NJ. After graduating from Northern Valley Regional High School in 1960, he worked with his father in the construction trade prior to going into the Army. When he returned to Northvale after discharge from the Army, he continued to learn the construction trade from his father and brother and eventually became a successful master carpenter.
Paul felt a duty to the community as did his father. He became a member of the Northvale Fire Department in 1968 eventually rising to the rank of Fire Chief from 1994-1995 before retiring in 2005 and moving to North Carolina.
Paul’s sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone with anything is well known among his family, friends, and community. He could always make you laugh and put a smile on your face. He taught us not only by what he said, but by how he lived – showing the importance of honesty, patience, and compassion. He inspired us to strive to be our best selves. He was admired by friends and colleagues alike. His dedication to his work, his generosity in helping others and his genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his sons, Christopher Torello and David Torello, his Daughter-In-Law, Tara Torello, his nephew Thomas Torello, Daughter-In-Law Joan Torello, his stepchildren Deidre Grimm, Renee Barrigan, Robert Murphy, Jonathan Leary, Michael Murphy, as well as his grandchildren Aiden, Makenna, Jason, Jessica, Hannah, Daniel, Rebeka, Kyle, Jared, Alaina, Summer, Sean, Kira & Gemma and 3 great-grandchildren. Paul is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elsie Torello, his brother Walter Torello, his uncle Fred Ihburg, his nephew Jamie Torello, and his loving wife Linda Torello.
Visiting hours will be held at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., Northvale, NJ, on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4-7 PM. Burial will be Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11 AM at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY.
