James P. Moran

James P. Moran, 80, of Palisades, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Beloved husband of Ellen (nee McNeil). Devoted father of Suzanne Lindquist and her husband Richard of NYC, James P. Moran, Jr. of Garden City, NY and Melissa Moran of NYC. Cherished grandfather of J.P., Stephen and Abigail. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of the late Maureen and George Colleran.

James was a US Army veteran. He proudly served in the NYPD for 15 years before beginning a career in various hospitals in the metropolitan area. He retired from Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ as Chief Information Officer. A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, James loved his family and spending time with them and his friends, as well as a round of golf. He was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Joseph D. Fazio

Joseph D. Fazio, 44, of Park Ridge, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Cherished son of Susan and the late Joseph Fazio of Park Ridge. Beloved brother of Michael and his wife Denise of NYC and Jeffrey and his fiancé Nicole of River Vale.  Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Joey was director of accounting and finance for Prime Staffing in NY, NY. A diehard fan of the Yankees and WWE, he was kind and loving and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Joey will be most remembered for his innate ability to make people laugh.  He lived to love and entertain.  Although his passing is sad and painful, we feel blessed to have gained an angel who will loyally watch over us.

Maddelena Puglia

Maddalena Puglia (nee Capozzoli) passed away peacefully at the Brentwood in Norwood, NJ on March 23, 2016.  She was born in Aquara, Italy (province of Salerno) and was a longtime resident of Northvale, NJ.  Beloved wife of the late Salvatore.  She is survived by her devoted daughter Annette Herskowitz and her husband Wayne of Tappan, NY.  She leaves behind three grandsons whom she adored – Brett, Erik, and Jason.  Also survived by her sister Irene of Aquara, Italy and brother Lucido of Toronto, Canada.  Lovingly cared for by Theresa for many years.

Lena will be remembered for her love of gardening and working outdoors as well as her cooking, especially Sunday afternoon meals with her family.  She cherished the moments she spent with her family and friends and loved being a grandmother.  While Lena embraced her adopted country, she never lost touch with her Italian heritage.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Josephine Palladino (nee Pagliuca), 66, of Piermont, passed away on March 22, 2016. Beloved mother of Jennifer and her husband Ralph and Christine.  Adored grandmother of Gabriel and Nalani.

Carol Mae Struss

  1. Carol Mae Struss (nee Bogert), 73 of Northvale, formerly of Old Tappan, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 while surrounded by her family. Carol was predeceased by her husband Louis Struss (2005). She is survived by her four children: Louis Struss of Old Tappan, Robert Struss and his wife Susan of Westwood, Thomas Struss of Westwood, and her daughter Tina and her husband Rene’ of Northvale. She is also survived by her twin sister Bette Ann Human of Tampa, FL and her daughter Dawn Stampoulidis of Norwalk CT., and her grandchildren, Christina Avella and her husband Larry of Westwood, Vincent Struss of Westwood, and Justin Struss and his wife Toni of East Rutherford. Carol is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The Family will receive friends Thursday March 24, from 6-8 pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale.

Marianne Robbins

Marianne Robbins, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, NJ.   She was 87.

Born Marianne Pierce in Waterbury, CT, she attended nursing school and worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan where she met her husband, Dr. Milton Robbins.  They married in 1953 and raised 3 children in Riverdale, NY and Tenafly, NJ before moving to Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.

Widowed in 1992, Marianne moved to Norwood, NJ.  She joined St. Pius X church and sang in the choir; was a member of Cornerstone; and participated in volunteer projects through the church.  Marianne was a devoted yoga practitioner and walked in the outdoors regularly.

She is survived by her children, daughters Diane O’Rorke and Nancy Robbins, and son Paul Robbins and daughter-in-law, Karen; grandchildren, Dominique Robbins Malinda and Riley and Morgan O’Rorke; siblings, Edward Pierce and Joan Pescetelli; nieces and nephews; and, many life-long and treasured friends.

Doris C. Malinowski (nee Gunderman), 86, originally of Flushing, Queens, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Loving mother of Walter, and his wife Angela, of Norwood, NJ and Stephan, and his wife Patricia, of Oklahoma.  Cherished grandmother of Laura, Tara, Joseph, Michele and Ruth and great-grandmother of Samuel, Olivia and Elizabeth.

Doris was an administrative assistant for Home Insurance Co. in New York City for many years before retiring.

Claire A. Whelan

Claire A. Whelan (nee Curran), 92, of Township of Washington, formerly of Lyndhurst, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Robert G. Whelan. Cherished mother of Robert T. Whelan and his wife Donnamarie of Upper Saddle River. Loving aunt of three nieces and one nephew. Dear sister of the late Timothy Curran, Helen Smith, Virginia McCallum and Adele Mead.

Claire was the purchasing agent for the administrator for the Township of Washington for 19 years before retiring in 1989. She was also President of Miriam Gemmel Auxiliary of the Children’s Aid and Adoption Society from 1961-1963.
