Albert Hagan, 81, of Orangeburg, New York, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Al was the loving father of Alyssa Mathews and her husband, James, and Robert Hagan and his wife, Nicole. He was the proud grandfather of Keenan and Maura Mathews. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Kennedy and her husband, Phil; his former wife and dear friend, Mary Hagan; and his beloved granddogs, Palmer, Benny and Gracie.

Al was predeceased by his sister, Eileen and his brother, Robert A. Hagan, Jr.; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Hudson.

Al proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1971. Following his military service, he spent 17 years with Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory, working aboard oceanographic research vessels that traveled the world. He continued his career at MRC and then KDF Electronics. The experiences, adventures, and friendships he gained during those years remained among his fondest memories.

Al’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family and friends. He was a devoted father and grandfather who took great pride in his children and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. He especially enjoyed playing golf with “Hagan’s Hackers” at Blue Hill and looked forward each year to his annual golf outings. He also loved cheering on the New York Jets and never met a dog he didn’t love. He will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and generous heart. He will be deeply missed.

Pamela Marie Henrici (nee DaSaro), 68, of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Beloved wife of Joseph Allen Henrici and loving mother of her son, Jason and his wife Danelle, and her daughter, Lauren. Proud grandmother of Zoey, Dominic and Lexi. Cherished daughter of Marie and her late husband Charles DaSaro. Loving sister of Deborah Princiotto and husband Sal, Lori Powers and husband Don and Melissa Shanley and husband Tom. Dear sister-in-law of Peter Henrici and wife Judy, Paul Henrici and Mark Henrici and wife Erin. Also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pamela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed playing tennis, having lunch with friends and of course spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Ryan John Matthews, 34, of Piermont, NY passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026.  Beloved son of Tierney (nee Butler) and Randy Matthews.   Long time loving partner of Taylor Haggerty.  Adored grandson of Ron and Doris Matthews and the late Marie and Bill Butler.  Dear nephew of Buck and Loretta, Lynn and Tom, Gregg and Janet, Tim and Sandra, Denise and Tom, and Aileen and the late Raymond.  Proud cousin of Dennis, Brian, Meaghan, Gregg, Rachel, Alex, Laura, Jack, Jonah, Lillianna, Jennifer, Nicole, Daniel, and Megan.  He is also survived by many other loving friends and relatives.

Ryan worked as a ranger at Rockland Lake Golf Course for many years, and most recently at Rockland Country Club.

Winifred “Winnie” Stavros (nee Goodwin), 87, of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026.  Beloved wife of the late Stephen Stavros. Our beloved mom, grandma/nonna, and great-grandma “Gigi,” Dorothy Rubbo DeStefano, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on June 3, 2026. She was 86 years old.

Born in the Bronx on November 6, 1939, to the late Ida and Giuseppe Rubbo, and predeceased by her sister, Rita and brother Nicholas. 

Dorothy was the heart of the home and the matriarch of our family. She met the love of her life, Peter, at the age of 14. Peter preceded her in death in November 2024. They were together for 70 years and married for 66 years.

Together, Dorothy and Peter created a beautiful life centered on family, love, and laughter. They raised their four children — Donna Grasso (Mario), Annette Ciallella (Rick), Peter DeStefano (Alisa), and Joseph DeStefano (Dina) — in a joyful home where everyone felt welcomed, cherished, and loved. Their legacy lives on through the family they nurtured and the values they instilled.

Dorothy adored her grandchildren: Nicole (Mike), Alexandra (Mark), Jessica (Franco), Marissa, Jenna (Dominic), Alexa (Jarett aka Chad), Jake, Sofia, Angelina, Jovanna, and her angel in heaven, Richard. Her smile shined brightest when she spent time with her cherished great-grandchildren, Cru, Penelope, Luca, Violet, and Audriana, who brought endless joy to her life.

She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Helen DeStefano; her brother-in-law Salvatore Calisi; her beloved uncle, Mario Rubbo; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear lifelong friends.

Dorothy was a terrific cook and proudly hosted Sunday dinners for her family. Her kitchen was affectionately known as “Dorothy’s Meatball Palace.” Everyone would jokingly fight over who would get to eat the last meatball — one of her legendary specialties. She lovingly shared her famous meatball recipe and had a meatball making contest with her grandchildren, so her traditions could live on through future generations. 

Dorothy loved to shop until she dropped, playing mahjong, roulette and golf. She even hit a hole in one her first year playing! She loved traveling, reading and sudoku, and even rearranging the furniture just to keep things fresh. She led an active social life and loved to go out to dinner with friends. She was a die-hard Knicks fan, even naming her mini schnauzer, Mason, after one of her favorite players, “Mase in your face!” She loved her bling, dressing up, and having her hair and nails done. She brought fun, style, energy, and love wherever she went.

Above all, Dorothy was the heart and soul of our family. Her love, strength, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. We take comfort in knowing she is now happily reunited in heaven with our dad, Pebo, the love of her life.

Sharon Kathleen Hannigan, (née: O’Shaughnessy), passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at The Valley Hospital, surrounded by her loving daughters just as she had always surrounded them with love throughout her life. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Sharon was the cherished daughter of the late Sinon and Margaret (née: Gallagher) O’Shaughnessy. She carried with her a deep faith, a kind heart, and a quiet strength that shaped the lives of everyone who knew her. Proud of her roots, Sharon held a deep and lifelong pride in being 100% Irish, a heritage that was close to her heart. Sharon was the devoted wife of the late Edmond Lyden Hannigan, with whom she built a life centered on love, family, and togetherness. She was a deeply devoted mother to Eileen Van Horn; Kathleen Hannigan (Ediberto Balatbat); Patricia Hannigan (Robert Lasser); Colleen De Pinto, and the late Corrado De Pinto; and Tara Servodio (Giovanni). Being a mother was her greatest purpose and her proudest role. Her love only grew with each new generation. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Joseph, Erin, Emily, Nicholas, Patrick, Emma, Gianna, Ethan, Ryan, Ayden Elizabeth, Logan, Nathan, and Joshua, and a treasured great-grandmother to Patrick, Claire, Natalie, Elizabeth, and Evelyn. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her family. Her laughter, guidance, and warmth will forever remain in their hearts. Sharon’s happiest moments were centered around togetherness. She especially loved holidays, when her home was filled with laughter, food, and the presence of those she loved. One of her greatest joys was having a full house; her door was always open, and everyone was always welcome. Those gatherings created memories that her family will cherish forever. Sharon was also a loyal and dear friend to many, and she cherished the friendships she maintained throughout her life, always offering kindness, support, and a listening ear. Sharon was predeceased by her dear siblings Bridget Galvin, James O’Shaughnessy, Margaret Sheila O’Shaughnessy, Patricia Crowley, Michele Scibetta, and Michael O’Shaughnessy. She is also lovingly survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, who will remember her warmth, generosity, and enduring love. A woman of deep faith and quiet generosity, Sharon gave so much of herself to others. She was deeply involved in her parish community at St. Paul the Apostle, where she volunteered with the Parent Guild and Carnival Committee, the Rosary Society, and St. Paul’s School. She also dedicated her time to the Academy of Saint Aloysius High School. Her kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on many.
Sharon will be remembered not only for what she did, but for who she was: a woman of beauty, warmth, grace, and unconditional love. She had a special way of making everyone feel at home, and her presence was a comfort to all who knew her.
Though her absence leaves a deep void, the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.

Bernard R. Malara (Bernie) was born in Yonkers, New York on July 6, 1932, the second of three children to Helen and Anthony Malara.   His family is saddened to announce his passing on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026.  He was 93 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Cathie, son Anthony, daughter-in-law Jessica and three beautiful, dynamic, grandchildren Jack, Liam and Margo. 

His late daughter Cynthia Malara passed away in 2006.

Growing up in Yonkers, in the 1930s and 40s, Bernie was an avid New York Giants fan (the baseball team), pitched for his High School, was a boy scout and worked at his father’s candy store.  After High School, he put himself through college at night while working at the Otis Elevator company.  He graduated from Fordham University in 1956, and then returned to Fordham, obtaining a master’s degree in physics in 1963.

He was a kayak and canoe racer, competing at the national level in the 1950s.  He remained an avid kayaker and lover of the outdoors well into his later years. 

After teaching high school in the Bronx, he moved to Long Island where he taught at the New York Institute of Technology prior to joining Physics Department at the State University of New York at Farmingdale in 1965.  In 1970, long before the computer became commonplace, he published an article advocating for their use as a standard within college level physics curriculums.  He was a proponent of the environment, and authored first of their kind courses on the environmental impacts of energy production and pollution in the 1980’s. He was a life-long educator, teaching for over 50 years before retiring in 2012.

He and Cathie raised their two children on Long Island, making frequent appearances at the beach, often with a kayak tied to the top of their car.  His daughter Cynthia shared, among other things, Bernie’s love for water and his remarkable aptitude for languages.  

Bernie and Cathie moved to Rockland County after his retirement, across the river from his native Yonkers, to be closer to the next generation of their family.

Alice M. Hennessy (nee Muller), 94, of. Norwood, NJ, passed away at home on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Alice was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Hennessy for 63 years, and a loving mother and friend to John and his wife Cheryl Hennessy of Mahwah, NJ and Kathleen Hennessy of Norwood, NJ.

Alice was born in Baguio, Philippines to John Muller and Laney Ngausi Muller.  She was one of their ten children.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Geraldine Muller of Tucson, Arizona, and her sister-in-law Sherry Hennessy Plevretes and husband George Plevretes of East Norwich, NY, and many wonderful nephews and nieces. 

When Alice was an infant in the Philippines,  she almost died.  The Igorot people – the indigenous mountain people in the Philippines  – held a Canao for her, a ceremony in which she was given a new name for her second chance at life.  And the name they chose was Vida which means life.  And what a full, rich,  and interesting life she had.

She had many occupations and experiences.  She was a reporter in the Philippines,  and a Catholic school teacher in New York.  But she says her favorite time in life was when she was a young mother,  caring for her husband Bob and raising her children. 

She was an artist who created beautiful paintings,  and wrote short stories about her family’s experiences during World War II.  She and her husband Bob studied clowning and ballroom dancing.

Alice had a very strong Christian faith and taught CCD religious education for almost 40 years.  She was extremely generous,  and always shared what she had.   She was known for always carrying and giving out candy – to her CCD students after each class,  to her friends,  and even to her doctors. 

Alice loved to laugh.   She loved travel, flower gardens, music,  theater,  casinos,  and anything she thought would bring her closer to the Lord.

She will be greatly missed.

Patrick James O’Connor, 76, of Blauvelt, NY since 1984, formerly of Parkchester in the Bronx, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Also known to his friends and family as Oakie/O’key, Patty or the Mayor. Beloved husband of Vanessa (nee Chizzolin). Proud father of daughters Danah and Tiffany. Dear brother of Connie McTigue, Regina Musumeci and the late Theresa, James and Geraldine O’Connor. Survived by many loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. 

Patrick was a stationary engineer and a dedicated and loyal member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 45 years. He worked at the NY Coliseum in NYC and retired from Yonkers Raceway Empire City.   

He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5343 and the Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176, both in Blauvelt.

An avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees and Duke Blue Devils. 

Pat loved playing cards, taking trips to the casino and volunteering for events. 

He also enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore with friends and family.

He took great pride in serving his community, lending a helping hand when needed and being a supporter of the St.Jude Foundation.

BERGHUYS, MARGARET “Marge” (nee Baisley) Given by God Sept. 15, 1936, given back to God, May 17, 2026.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Henry, she was the adored mother of Henry, Dee, Kathleen Gaggin (Tom). Devoted grandmother to Corey (Joanna), Austin & Ash Berghuys (Carolyn) and Michael (Erin), Sean and Brianne (Joe) Winkel. Loving Great Grandmother to Rylan, Adriana & Hayley Berghuys, Iris, Brady & Rowan Gaggin & Everly Winkel.

Born into a typical Irish Family, she was the daughter of the late John & Dorothy Baisley and the sister to John Baisley, Dorothy Maher, Mary Sullivan, Helen Corker, William Baisley & Edward Baisley who predeceased her and her surviving syblings, Anna Marlow, Catherine Shea & James Baisley. She was also the beloved mother in law to Tanya, who predeceased her.

Mom met the love of her life in 1956 and married on September 27, 1958, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 49 years. Together they built a warm and lively home in Northvale, NJ for 27 years where they raised their three children, before retiring in Ocean Pines, Maryland.

Mom loved to cook, entertain, clean, sing Patsy Cline songs and could be seen on the dance floor doing the Lindy or Savoy with her sisters, always with a Coors Light nearby! They were blessed with many friends and truly had great times together whether they were traveling, sitting at the beach or enjoying a meal at a restaurant or each other’s houses.

Above all else, she treasured her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride & happiness to her life. Even the dogs would always make their way to her lap!
