Patrick F. Cuomo, 73, of Congers, NY, formerly of Cresskill, NJ, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026. Cherished life partner of Marie Hoey. Loving father of Christina Cuomo-Warner and Michael Cuomo. Proud grandfather of Brandon, Rachel, Mason and Cameron. Dearest brother of Patricia Cuomo-Cerame and Donna Marie Cuomo. Beloved uncle of Lori-Ann, David and Dorene and their families. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Patrick was an entrepreneur in Bergen County for many years. He had owned a deli in Bergenfield, a café in Fair Lawn and an Italian-American Club in Tenafly. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mary Jane Mosier (née Rooney), 84, of Harrington Park, NJ, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Mary Jane was the beloved wife of Edson and a devoted and loving mother to Lisa; Kenneth and his wife, Ly-Cheng; Sarah Knigin and her husband, Michael; and Jimmy and his wife, Kate. She was a proud and adoring Nana to her ten grandchildren: Nicole, Justin, Kelsey, Jasmine, Abigail, Edson, James, Zachary, Olivia, and Jack, who brought her endless happiness and joy. She was also a loving aunt and cousin to many, cherishing the special bonds she shared with her extended family and always making everyone feel loved and valued.

Mary Jane lived a life defined by her generosity, strong faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. She gave freely of her time and talents, always putting the needs of others before her own. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family and believed that time spent together was life’s greatest gift. Some of her happiest moments were spent enjoying summer beach vacations in Avalon and Stone Harbor, surrounded by the children and grandchildren she loved so dearly. No matter how busy life became, her family was always her first priority.

Her caring nature extended far beyond her family. For more than 30 years, Mary Jane served as the school nurse for Northvale Public Schools, where she dedicated herself to the health and well-being of generations of students. She was also an active member of the Harrington Park Board of Education and Emergency Medical Services, a past president of the New Jersey Education Association, and a longtime lector at Our Lady of Victories Church.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Mary Jane believed wholeheartedly in the power of prayer. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and generosity she shared with those around her.

Above all, Mary Jane will be remembered for her selfless love, her devotion to family, and the countless ways she made life better for others. Her greatest legacy is not only the many lives she touched, but the close and loving family she worked so hard to bring together.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Mary Rooney, and her beloved sister, Nancy Duffus, with whom we can only imagine she is joyfully reunited, singing and dancing together once again to “Sisters” by Rosemary Clooney.

“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

Adelaida Referente Quiambao, 80, of Northvale, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 3, 2026.  Beloved wife of Alfredo Romero Quiambao.  Loving mother of Melanie (Jason), Frederick, and Leilanie Mahon (Kevin).  Cherished sister of Jose Referente Jr., Melilia Condino, Maria Magdalena Referente-Batoon and Virginia Legaspi and was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.  She is also survived by the one person she relied on the most, Tita (Guadalupe Sales).

Adelaida (Nene, a family nickname from childhood ) was born in Cotabato City, Philippines.  After coming to the United States of America on a bet with a friend, she worked in various departments at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in NY, NY until her retirement as a medical records supervisor. She was a devout catholic and an active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Northvale, the town she called home for so many years. Her favorite pastimes included playing mahjong with her friends and “mares” and going to a casino for a few tries on her Mr. Cashman slot machines. 

But if there’s anything that she loved more in this world, it was her family, especially her siblings. She was the one who called and greeted family and friends during any and all of the holidays and their birthdays. Annual summer family reunions were what she looked forward to since it was the only time in the year that she would get together with most of her siblings who lived across the United States. These reunions with her siblings were cherished moments for them to relive their childhood, which meant they were teasing Nene since she was one of the younger siblings. Hearing her laugh and seeing her smile with her siblings are what many would say will be missed the most.

Gary Robert Flyge, 82, of Harrington Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. He was the loving husband of Toni Adele (nee Schmitt) for 47 wonderful years. Loving father of Eric and his wife Jamie, and Lauren and her husband Lamour. Caring grandfather of Emma. He was predeceased by his parents, Ludwig and Gertrude Flyge, and his sister, Joan Leyden. He will be missed by many, including his nieces and nephews.

Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked in the finance and banking industry in New York City for over 40 years, most notably as a Vice President of U.S Trust Company. An avid fly fisherman, he was a member of Trout Unlimited and had a passion for cars and photography. Above all, he loved his family and was very proud of his finest achievements, his children.

Marie Rose Peterson (nee Frassa), 78, of Emerson, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026. Devoted wife of the late John J. Ann Logan Sperry McGrath, 93, died peacefully at her home in Norwood, New Jersey, on September 23, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born in 1933 to Elmer A. Sperry Jr. and Helen (Duffy) Sperry, in Brooklyn, New York, Ann was the fourth of their five children. Ann’s grandfather, Elmer A. Sperry Sr., her father, and her uncle were members of the Sperry family of inventors and pioneers in modern aviation and maritime navigation. Ann attended the Brearley School in Manhattan until her family moved to Wilton, Connecticut, in 1941. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Connecticut, and later from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Newton, Massachusetts, where she majored in English. She attended Teachers College, Columbia University.

In 1956, Ann was teaching elementary school at St. David’s School, a private boys’ school in Manhattan, when she fell in love with the music teacher, Robert E. McGrath, who later became the featured tenor vocalist on the hit television show Sing Along With Mitch and an original cast member of the beloved children’s program, Sesame Street. Ann and Bob wed in June 1958 and started their family in Manhattan before moving to Teaneck, New Jersey, where they spent 55 years raising five children. They enjoyed more than 60 years together until Bob’s passing in 2022. 

Ann spent a large part of her youth riding and caring for her horses, King and Ladybug. She loved traveling, gardening, hiking, playing the piano, and spending summers at their home in Maine, often with their grandchildren. She studied karate for more than 30 years, earning a high brown belt. A prolific reader and writer, Ann was often seen with a book in hand, even as she prepared dinner for their five young children, no doubt getting ready for a book club meeting whose members would become lifelong friends.

Her witty writings can be found dating back to her time as editor-in-chief of her college publication, “855.” She published the children’s book Tony’s Tunnel, a “carry-me” book with a hole in the center that served as both Tony’s secret hideaway and a handle for little hands. She documented her lifelong travels in journals, wrote a country music song, and forever kept paper and pencil on hand to write poems. 

She helped Bob write eight books for children and handled countless details behind the scenes of his live family shows with symphony orchestras, managing everything from bookkeeping to sewing costumes for the young performers who joined Bob on stage for songs such as “People in Your Neighborhood.”

Quietly guided by her Catholic faith, Ann practiced her beliefs through her actions. A confidant and mentor, she provided a welcoming space and sage advice to people of all ages, and loyally supported her friends through their most difficult times.

A loving wife and mother, Ann is survived by her five children: Liam McGrath and his partner, Janet Rauber, of New York, NY; Robert McGrath and his wife, Linda Liang, of Brooklyn, NY; Lily McGrath and her partner, Cesar Calvo, of Northvale, NJ; Alison McGrath Osder and her husband, William Osder, of Haworth, NJ; and Cathlin McGrath and her husband, Patrick McConnell, of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 17, 2026, at Saint Anastasia Church, 1095 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ, at 11:00 a.m.

Paula Maio, 82, of Old Tappan, NJ, formerly of Park Ridge, NJ, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Paula was predeceased by her beloved sons, Joseph and Anthony. She was the loving wife of George and proud grandmother of Nicolette, Dominique, Julianna and Devon. Cherished sister of Deborah Nuzzo, her husband Ralph and daughter, Alix. Dear mother-in-law of Carmela and Sharri and her husband Adam Schefter and daughter Dylan. Also survived by her dear sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Paula was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Throughout her life she enjoyed hosting parties, traveling, playing cards, backgammon, golfing, bowling, and playing tennis all in good company. She lit up a room with her smile, her love and her laugh, which will be forever cherished. She enjoyed her membership at Rockland Country Club in Sparkill, where she and George were members for over 45 years. She will be dearly missed.

Eleanor Anne Migge, née Gorman, passed away peacefully into eternal life on September 23, 2026, leaving behind a family who adored her and a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever. She was born on August 11, 1937 at her home of 6904 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and she was the youngest daughter of Charles and Margaret (Daisy) Gorman.

Ellie, as she liked to be called, attended St. Ephrem’s Grammar School. She graduated in 1955 from St. Brendan’s Diocesan High School, a highly regarded school whose students were admitted on scholarship. After high school, her father wanted her to go to college, but she wanted to go to work. The day after she graduated high school, she went to work for Morgan Guaranty from 1955 to 1961.

She met Thomas Migge in 1957 at a dance or, as they affectionately call it, a “rat race” at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. They married on November 26, 1960 at St. Ephrem’s Church. For their 65th anniversary, they took a trip to Bay Ridge where they revisited St Ephrem’s, the movie theater they shared their first date, and the apartment they shared at 9701 Shore Road.

Ellie left Morgan Guaranty when her son Thomas was born in 1961. She had two more sons, William and Edward, who were born in 1963 and 1966. In August of 1970, they moved to Tappan, where their daughter Michele was born later that year. Ellie and Tom have remained in that same house for 56 years where they created beautiful memories with their children.

In 1978, she returned to work for Banker’s Trust which ultimately became Union State Bank, where she rose to the rank of Assistant Vice President. She took great pride in her work and relationships with colleagues, and often entertained her family with countless work stories over dinner. She retired in 2002 to help babysit her grandchildren, which forged a very special relationship between “Mema” and her grandkids.

Just as she did for her own children, Mema rarely missed any of her grandchildren’s events. Her steady presence had others regard her as their honorary Mema too. As her family’s number one fan, she gave constant support through hours spent chatting on the phone and nights spent waiting up for a car or plane to arrive safely at its destination. Despite being a prolific reader, she suffered from book amnesia; however, she never failed to remember birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, always acknowledging them with a card and generous gift. Mema was the memory keeper of her family, and could recall so many details of the events of our lives. She also said the rosary daily for the people close to her and those in need of spiritual support.

Eleanor is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Thomas; son Thomas Jr. and his partner Adeline Pietro; son William and his wife Eileen and their children Billy (Kim) and Jessica (JP); son Ed and his wife Deborah and their children Julia and Lauren; and daughter Michele and her husband Joseph and their children T.J., Kayla, Cristina, and John. She was predeceased by her father Charles, her mother Margaret, her brothers Jack, Bill, and Charley, and her sister Audrey. Ellie’s greatest joy was her family. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to be together. Her love, laughter, unwavering faith, and unmistakable presence will remain with them always.

Anthony J. Ubl, 88, of Northvale, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Anthony was born and raised in West New York. He was beloved by his mother, the industrious and kind Barbara Schwartz Ubl. His companion in childhood was his older sister, Barbara, who devotedly watched over her baby brother. Barbara let Tony join her on adventures in West New York, taking the long walk across town to the movie theater to preserve their bus money for mallo bars, and even occasionally sneaking him out the window to let him join the older boys in street sports and games. They were forever proud of their older brother, the late Joseph, who died in Manila serving his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Anthony excelled in basketball, but played many sports while attending Memorial High School, including a brief stint on the track team. While at Memorial, he met the bright and beautiful Joyce (nee Hoppe), who he married in 1961. The two would enjoy a 65-year marriage filled with beach trips to Wildwood, bike rides around the neighborhood, and Turkey Hill iced tea on the deck above their wooded backyard. They stayed connected with their dear school friends, unfailingly attending Memorial High School reunions throughout their lives.

From West New York, Anthony and Joyce moved to Hickory Avenue in Bergenfield and later settled on the end of the cul-de-sac of Campora Drive in Northvale, where they would raise two sons—Anthony M. Ubl and Jeffrey S. Ubl. Anthony joined the United Auto Workers’ Union and worked for the Chrysler Corporation in Tappan, NY for many years. After retiring, he also worked among friends at the Pizzi Funeral Home for over 10 years, where he was affectionately known as “Whitey.”

Anthony never lost his love for athletics, always enjoying a walk at the Piermont Pier or Tallman Park with Joyce. Throughout his life, he played on local softball teams, coached Northvale youth sports, and cheered on his son Anthony in the Fire Department’s softball league. He taught his sons, and later, his granddaughters—Caitlin and Ellen—how to throw a baseball. And, when his granddaughters unfortunately defected to less spectator-friendly sports, he still attended their races and meets at Darlington County Park, Garret Mountain Reservation, and the Bubble in Toms River. He always braved the cold or the heat to cheer them on, whether that be on the track at Williams College or on the streets of Manhattan during the 2025 New York Marathon.

On Sunday afternoons, Anthony invited his granddaughters to assist him in the production of his famous meatballs for family dinners. He loyally followed the New York Giants and New York Yankees—watching every game even in their weaker seasons. He enjoyed woodworking and home repair, always working on a project in his garage workshop. He loved mornings spent exercising at the gym and catching up with the Breakfast Club. He took pleasure in small, everyday joys, like a freshly cut lawn or a good slice of pizza from Three Boys. But most of all, Anthony loved his family and friends, and we will miss him.

Beloved husband of Joyce. Cherished father of Anthony and Jeffrey, and wife Sue-Ellen. Adored grandfather of Ellen and fiancé, Sam, and Caitlin and husband, Paul. Dear brother of Barbara and the late Joseph.

George Olmo, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Born March 30, 1940, in New York, New York, George was a longtime resident of Closter and Northvale, New Jersey. He was the owner and operator of 21st Century Finishing Inc. in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, and proudly served in the United States Army.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Maria (Doto) Olmo; his parents, Francesco and Josephine Olmo; and his siblings Theresa Delorme, Carmela Scalice, Anthony Olmo, and Vincent Olmo.

He is survived by his sisters, Anne Frato and Victoria Bonadio, along with his 23 beloved nieces and nephews, including one who predeceased him.

George is also survived by his longtime partner, Karen DeMaio and her family, whose loving care and companionship brought him great comfort, particularly during his illness and final days.

George will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, generous heart, and deep concern for the people he loved. He cared deeply for his siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved good food, fine wine, conversation, and laughter, and shared with his family an appreciation for their Italian roots, traditions, and time spent together around the table.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects onTuesday, September 29, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale. A Catholic Vigil Service will begin at 6:30 pm. Military honors will also be rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard during the visitation
