Carmen I. Large’

Carmen I. Large’ , 60, of Northvale, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014.  Devoted mother of Crystal Rosen and son-in-law Carson Austin, the late Craig Rosen and daughter-in-law Brittany Mescall. Cherished sister of Mercedes Large’-Minch and her husband Steven.  Loving Grandmother to Jayden & RJ, dearest Aunt to Nicole Large’. Also predeceased by her parents, Paul and Wilma Large’, her brother Willi and her ex-husband Barry Rosen.

Carmen was a waitress at Charlie Brown’s in Old Tappan. Prior to that she worked at the Northvale Diner as manager/waitress for many years.  She will be remembered for her contagious and distinct laughter, her love of horses and wolves, riding her motorcycle and having a good time with family and friends.  Carmen will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050).  Cremation will be private.

Thomas Edward Hams

Thomas Edward Hams, 86 of Brookside Village, Harrington Park passed away peacefully on November 23, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Park Ridge Memory Care Home.

Born on August 21, 1928 in Union City, NJ, Tom lived in Union City until 1977 when he moved his family to Harrington Park.  After graduating from Union Hill High School, Tom entered Local 29 of the NJ Plaster’s Union.  In 1950 he proudly served his country in the US Army, 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.  After his discharge he served 27 years as a Union City Police Officer.  Tom was a member of the Community Church in Harrington Park.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Hansen), his son Thomas Hams II of Gilbert, AZ, his daughters, Barbara Ribar of Fort Myers, FL and Marilyn Stankiewicz of Harrington Park, and his son-in-law Jack Stankiewicz.  Tom’s greatest joy in life was his five Grandsons, Thomas Hams III, Christopher Stankiewicz, Robert Ribar, Nathaniel Hams, and Bryan Stankiewicz.   Tom also leaves behind his sister-in-law Helen Hams and brother- in-law Roy Meyer and three very special nieces.  Tom was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Hams and his son-in-law Bob Ribar and daughter in law Wendy Hams, and sister-in-law Evelyn Hansen.

Visitation Friday, November 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave. Northvale, NJ.  Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 29th at 11:30 a.m. at the Community Church in Harrington Park, Harriet Ave., Harrington Park, NJ, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ.  In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to the Community Church in Harrington Park, P.O. Carole Grappo, 67, of Bronx, NY, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014.  Beloved sister of Phyllis Cavalli.  Cherished aunt of Sergio Cavalli and Janelle Cassidy and their families.

John E. Marquart

John E. Marquart, 82, of Northvale, passed away at home on Saturday, November 22, 2014.  Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Amodeo).  Devoted father of Lisa Furman of Monroe, NY, Joanie Milde and husband William of Monroe, NY and John Marquart of Charleston, SC.  Cherished grandfather of Michael Furman and wife Brittney, Meghan Furman, Matthew and Timothy Milde and was looking forward to being a great-grandfather this spring.  Also survived by a loving extended family of dear in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

John was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Before retiring he was a draftsman for Roanwell Corp in NYC.  A devoted family man, he enjoyed time spent with relatives and friends as well as the occasional trips to Atlantic City and Pennsylvania.

Brooke Ann Keshian, 52, of Ridgewood, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.  Cherished daughter of Charles and Alice Keshian of Northvale.  Beloved sister of Paul Keshian of NYC and the late Allen.  Also survived by many loving cousins and extended family and friends.

Brooke was a graduate of the University of Maryland. She was self-employed in advertising sales.

Mickey L. Otto

Mickey L. Otto (nee Hildreth), 72, of Northvale, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. Beloved wife of Walter G. Otto, Jr.  Loving mother of Taryn L. Otto of Fort Lee and the late Walter G. Otto, III.  Dearest sister of Charles E. Hildreth and wife Kitty of Christmas, FL and the late John Hildreth and Danny Hildreth.

Mickey was an administrative assistant at Pryometer in Northvale. She was a member of the Tappan Reformed Church, the Northvale Senior Center and was active in local Parkinson’s disease support groups.  Mickey enjoyed spending her summers with family at Wanaksink Lake in Rock Hill, NY.

A funeral service will be held Monday 12 Noon at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY. Visiting hours are Sunday 3-6 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.

Alexander “Nino” Prodigo

Alexander A. “Nino” Prodigo, 90, a lifelong resident of Northvale, passed away at home on Monday, November 10, 2014. Loving husband of the late Phyllis (nee D’Ercole).  Devoted father of Ali Dimataris and her husband Greg.  Adored grandfather of Jessica, Gregory and Matthew.  Dearest brother of Janet Frohlich and husband Edward of Northvale, Loretta Hermann and husband Al of VA, Susan Essmann and husband Bill of Northvale,the late Frank Prodigo of Closter and the late Lucille Amorosso of VA. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Nino was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the 6th Naval Beach Battalion during the invasion at Normandy. Nino was a carpenter for Local 15 in Hackensack before becoming business agent, a position he held for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Northvale American Legion and had been a member of the Democratic County Committee.  Nino enjoyed hunting with friends and family.
