Frank J. DeCarlo

Frank J. DeCarlo, 84, of Pomona, NY, formerly of Tappan, NY, passed away at home on Monday, December 18, 2023. Beloved husband of Anna (nee Imperato). Proud father of James DeCarlo and his wife Carmen of Pomona. Loving grandfather of James Nicholas DeCarlo and step-grandpa of Johanna, Angel and Giovanni. Dearest brother of the late Joseph DeCarlo.

Frank retired from the NYPD after 28 years of service rising to the rank of Captain. He was an avid reader especially Sherlock Holmes stories and other mysteries. He enjoyed old classic movies and has thousands of recorded VCR tapes. He also loved recanting stories of growing up in Brooklyn. He will be dearly missed.

Visiting hours are Friday, December 22, 2023 from 4-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan, NY with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery.

Edward W. Keane

Edward W. Keane, 82, of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023. Beloved husband of Kathleen P. (nee O’Malley). Loving father of Daniel Keane and wife Michelle, Eileen Staszak, Kathleen Monahan , Patrick Keane and wife Susan and the late Stephen Keane. Proud and cherished grandfather of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Walter Keane, James Keane and the late Bertram Keane and Arthur Keane.

Ed retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in NYC. He also worked part-time at Yonkers Raceway for over 50 years. Ed was also a member of the Northvale Rifle and Pistol Club.

Brendan T. McCarthy

Brendan T McCarthy, 43, loving husband, father, and loyal friend to many, passed away peacefully at home in Tuckerton, NJ on December 7th. Known by family and friends as simply “Brenny”, Brendan was born in Suffern, NY, on July 3, 1980, to the late Joyce and Robert, and is survived by his wife and their two children, along with the many pets he loved and cared for throughout his life. Brendan leaves behind his uncle Richard Lamb and his aunt Pamela as well as many dear friends.
Growing up in smalltown Closter, New Jersey, Brendan spent his younger years excelling on the local baseball fields where he exemplified toughness and what it meant to be a teammate. Brendan would proudly show off the ball sized bruises dotting his limbs, earned by throwing himself in front of any hard ground ball unlucky enough to be hit his way. If it meant saving a hit and giving his teammates a chance to get out of a tough inning, Brendan wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice himself. This was Brendan, his toughness only outmatched by his caring, empathetic heart and undying devotion and loyalty, made him the type of friend many can only wish for. Brendan, always quick to help anyone in need, learned undying compassion for animals from his late mother Joyce that stayed with him throughout his life. Up until his passing, Brendan cared for his late mother Joyce’s Timmy the Turtle and rescued many cats and dogs from local shelters. One could argue Brendan was also a rescuer of people as he never hesitated to help a friend in times of need, often opening his home to them. Many a friend at one time or another called his 527 High Street residence home; it may not have been modern or luxurious, but it was filled with Brendan, and thus filled with love.
As a husband and father, Brendan sacrificed to provide a good life for his family. Working long hours on his feet as a merchandiser for Seaview Beverage, Brendan would often log extra hours at his ailing body’s expense if it meant a better tomorrow for his family. He was a man of devotion, service to others, and sacrifice, and always quick to lend a hand. In Brendan’s case, this occasionally meant working long hours washing and folding laundry at a laundromat owned by his two friends or filling countless sandwich and soup orders at another friend’s deli. Though he’d often complain he was underpaid or that everything hurt, when it became time to begin the next day’s shift Brendan would be there ready to work. He would never want to let a friend down.
Brendan’s many friends scattered across the world will remember his warm welcoming smile, caring heart and unmatched loyalty that made Brendan our Brenny. We will remember our friend and how he fought the good fight and lived one day at a time in hopes of making the next “right” decision, we will remember our friend and brother who loved us unconditionally.

Suzanne Bicknell

Suzanne Bicknell, 61, of Haverstraw, NY passed on to heaven Monday, December 11, 2023.

Suzanne was born in the Bronx on January 26, 1962, to Patrick and Joan McArdle. Her loving parents provided her with the template for the life she lived & the family she went on to create.

Suzanne met the love of her life Jim at 16 years old. They married in 1984 & built a beautiful life filled with laughter together. She had three children: Kristen (Tom), Tiffany (Brett) & James (Claire). Her entire life revolved around her children. Being a mother was one of the greatest joys of her life. Second only to being a Nana, to Mackenzie, Thomas, AJ, Kennedy, & Jameson who will arrive in March.

Suzanne was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Joan McArdle, brother Patrick McArdle and father-in-law William Bicknell. She is survived by her loving sister Jeannie, who was her other half, her husband Kenny, their children Kenny (Lauren), Joannie (Dustin), Beth and her grandnieces Kiera & Kaley. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Harriet Bicknell, brothers-in-law, Richard Bicknell and William Bicknell, Jr. (JeanMarie), sister-in-law Pamela Rodriguez, aunts, uncles and many cherished friends and family.

The family asks that when you remember Suzanne you don’t dwell on the pain & sadness of her passing but of her smile, laughter, love & positive energy.

Donald P. Kroner

Donald P. Kroner, 81, of Pearl River, NY passed away on Tuesday, December 12,2023. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Romano). Loving father of Donna Donohue and her husband Gregg and Michael Kroner and his wife Karissa. Proud grandfather of Brooke, Jack, Kyle, Sofia, Christian and Ava.  Beloved brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Roger and his sister Linda. 

In many ways, Donald was a “regular guy”.  He loved watching and playing golf.  He also thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and fixing things, as often as not for others.  He had an extensive model train collection and loved his wife’s cooking.  He was a loyal friend to all who knew him.  

Where he was truly extraordinary however was at being a father and grandfather.  He was a mentor and a constant companion to his children Donna and Mike.  He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his six grandchildren.  He could always be found at their school functions or games.  We will always carry his memory in our hearts.

Enis Elaine Lorenzo

Enis Elaine Lorenzo (nee Manes), 87, formerly of Old Tappan, NJ and Northvale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Angelo Charles Lorenzo, Sr. Loving mother of Francis Vincent Lorenzo, Angelo Charles Lorenzo, Jr. and his wife Lu Ann, Gina Marie Lorenzo and Vincent James Lorenzo and his wife Shelly. Proud grandmother of Alaina, Olivia, Paul, James and Amaryah. Dear sister-in-law of Marie Parziale and was predeceased by her sisters Dolores Crilly and Louise Colangelo. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Above all, Enis was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a passionate animal lover and cherished her cats and her grand dogs. Enis loved playing cards and bingo with her friends and frequent trips to Atlantic City. Reading and music filled her days and she had a passion for College Football and Basketball.

Jeanette A. Bonardi

Jeanette A. Bonardi (nee Vanacore), 89, of Orangeburg, NY, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Edward Bonardi. Adored mother of Michael Bonardi of Congers, Steven Bonardi and wife Christine of Blauvelt and Richard Bonardi and wife Virginia of Blauvelt. Proud grandmother of Joseph, Eric, Julia, Alexandra, Christopher and Sophia. Dearest sister of Anthony Vanacore, Dolly Eufemia, Ralph Vanacore and Henry Vanacore.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Charter Member of Romanesque Lodge 2198 in Blauvelt. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Edward J. McDermott

Edward J. McDermott, 86, of Northvale passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, December 2, 2023.  

Born to Delia and Jack McDermott of County Roscommon, Ireland, he was a proud Irishman.  He was one of four siblings, Sr. Maeve McDermott, Jack McDermott, and Joseph McDermott, all of whom he loved dearly.  

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, with whom he travelled the world. Ed is also survived by his three children and their spouses, Mary & Christian Fierabend, John McDermott, and Edward & Jennifer McDermott.    Edward, aka Pop-Pop, also leaves behind his six grandchildren who he loved and adored, Joseph, Michael, Molly, Giuliana, Victoria, and Ava.

Visitation and celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, between 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, New Jersey.  A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at St. Anthony’s Church, 199 Walnut Street, Northvale, New Jersey with a burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, 500 Fairview Avenue, Fairview, New Jersey.

Terry Mastropasqua

Terry Mastropasqua, 77, of Norwood, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife  Patricia and loving son David. Survived by his daughter Jackie Monico and her husband Louis and daughter-in-law Daniela. Proud grandfather of Connor, Logan and Emily. Dearest brother of Effie Scutnik and husband Joe and Holly Gilpin and husband Dave. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Terry was a diesel mechanic  for the Port Authority of NJ/NY before retiring. A hard worker, Terry also enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Felix Armando Lopez

Felix Armando Lopez of Park Ridge, New Jersey, born June 5, 1934, in Formosa, Argentina to Pablo and Luisa Lopez, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, December 1, 2023.  Despite his many ailments, he never complained and took each one with grace and dignity and fought until the very end.

Husband of Mirtha Lopez (nee Paron) for 61 years. Cherished father of Ali Betts and her husband John. Proud Grandfather of Ashley Larkin and her husband Brian, Alex Rodriguez predeceased by her husband Pete Moulin-Malish, Danielle Betts and Johnny Betts. Adored Nonno of William and Maude Larkin.

Felix moved his family to Miami, Florida, in 1968 and worked as an auto body repairman until the young age of 83, when he retired. He had a love for sports, basketball being his favorite. He was the best at Argentinian parrilladas and always took over the grill at family functions while sipping his Chianti. To all who met him he was an adorned friend. He spent every moment of his life working and fighting hard, and always had the best stories, highlighting his most proud moments throughout his lifetime in Argentina, Florida, and New Jersey.

In celebration of his life, family and friends will be having an intimate gathering, with those closest to them, to share stories of all the amazing accomplishments, honoring his life.
