Michael A. Szegda, 70, of Old Tappan, formerly of Tenafly, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Joan. Loving father of Christian and his wife Carolina of Hackensack, Daniel of Tenafly, and twins Justin and Michele of Old Tappan. Adored grandfather of Eva. Dear brother of Barbara Maxwell and her husband Raymond and uncle of Jessica Stokes.

Michael was a US NAVY Veteran.  He graduated from Brown University and NYU Law School and had a private law practice for many years prior to working for Hampshire Hotels in NYC for the past 10 years.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050) with entombment to follow at Ascension Mausoleum, Airmont, NY. Visiting hours will be Friday from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Joanne E. Schryver, 69, of Harrington Park, passed away at home on Saturday, July 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Jack. Devoted mother of Adam and his wife Brianna and Cory of Harrington Park. Adored “Tayta” of Olive and Leighton. Dear sister of Raymond Okolovitch and his wife Jeanne of Old Tappan. Also survived by many loving friends, whom she considered to be family.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050) with a service to be held at 7:30 PM.

Frederick Charles Eichler, Jr., 86, of Northvale, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016. Born July 7, 1930 to the late Fred and Margaret Eichler. He is survived by his son, Frederick Eichler, III and grandsons, Frederick IV and Christopher. Dear brother of Anne M. Teuber and the late Margaret Eichler. Also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

Fred was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and belonged to the American Legion Perry Post in Sparkill, NY.  He retired from Rahway State Prison where he was a corrections officer for 27 years.  He then pursued a contracting business for many years until retiring at the age of 84.

Besides his love of family, Fred was an avid reader and gardener. He was a loving man who will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050) with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8 PM.

Frank Margini, 79, of Old Tappan, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016. A devoted family man, Frank was the beloved husband of Eva and loving father of Steven and his wife Laura of Wallkill, NY, Douglas of Old Tappan and Frank R. of Old Tappan. Adored grandfather of Samantha.

A proud American, Frank was a Cpl in the USMC during Korea and later joined the US Army Reserves and retired as Sgt. He was an officer in the NYPD for 20 years before retiring and becoming superintendent of buildings and grounds at Northvale Public Schools.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050). A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 7 PM.

Irene Papa (nee Bonzagni), 82, of Northvale, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Beloved wife of the late George. Cherished mother of Barbara Masterson and husband Walt of Northvale, Lorraine Jones and husband Bob of River Vale and the late George. Dear mother-in-law of Nancy Papa of Dumont.  Adored grandmother of Charlie and wife Laura, Jenny, Robert, Danny and wife Isabella, Jimmy, Kevin, John, Nick as well as a loving great-grandmother to Nate and Zach.

Irene was a cashier at Grand Union in Closter for 20 years.  She was loved by all her customers.   She enjoyed living in Palm Coast and Flagler Beach Florida for many years where she spent time helping others and enjoying the sunshine.  Irene spent the last 10 years living at Mill Gardens Assisted Living in Midland Park, NJ.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale with burial to follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY.

James S. Gallagher, 78, of Hackensack, formerly of Norwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Patricia.  Loving father of Julie Gallagher of Hackensack, Daniel and his wife Teresa of Upper Saddle River and the late James. Adored grandfather of Christina and Sandra. Dearest brother of the late Joseph, John and Edward.

James worked for General Motors in NYC for many years before retiring. He was an active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Norwood and enjoyed being in the choir.

LUZZI – Gregory, 62, a lifelong resident of Norwood passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016.  He is survived by his loving twin brother Bruce, and brothers, Robert and George Luzzi, his devoted niece, Michelle Luzzi and a nephew, Michael Luzzi.  His nephew Bruce Luzzi, Jr. predeceased him in 2004.

Gregory was born to Salvatore and Evangeline (nee Iulo) Luzzi on October 14, 1953.  He worked as an Automotive Insurance Adjuster for Rockland County Body Inc., Haverstraw, NY for many years.

MERRIMAN – Patricia A. (née: Dugan) of Norwood formerly of New Milford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 8, 2016.  Devoted wife of John Merriman.  Cherished mother of Robert Dennerlein and wife Carla, Jean Marie Petro and husband Christopher, Bill Merriman and wife Jennifer and Richard Merriman and wife Traci.  Adored grandmother of Rob, Mary Kate, Kristen, Sara, Jessica, Kelly, Emily and Patrick.  Patricia was born in the Bronx, NY and moved to New Milford in 1971 and has been a resident of Norwood for the past 13 years. She was an avid Yankee fan, an Irish Step Dancer and Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony’s Church for many years.
