Eileen Neff, 78, of South Nyack, died on February 22, 2016 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY, after a short and unexpected illness, with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 53 years, Thomas E. Neff, her daughters Jennifer Grennan and Neal of Tappan, NY and Caryn Neff of Valley Cottage, NY. She leaves behind her most cherished grandchildren Paige, Luke and Quinn Grennan, her sister, Mary Burke of Little Ferry, NJ and her brother, John F. McCarthy of Juno Beach, FL as well as her nieces and nephews.
Eileen was born in the Bronx on June 18, 1937 to John and Julia McCarthy (nee Burns). She spent much of her childhood in the parish of Holy Spirit, Bronx, NY and graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan. Eileen lived in Pearl River for fifteen years before moving to South Nyack where she enjoyed the Hudson River view. She retired as a Teaching Assistant from the South Orangetown Central School District. Her greatest joy was found in the company of her family – most especially her treasured grandchildren. Her love of laughter and her unique insight will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joe Raso Hospice Residence, 415 Buena Vista Rd., New City, NY 10956. Visiting will be held at Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale, New Jersey on Friday from 4 – 8pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Saturday at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tappan, NY with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
