Ferdinand “Fred” Monteleone, 78 of Orangeburg, NY and Pompano Beach, FL died on Thursday, October 5th 2017. He was born in the Bronx on January 2, 1939 to the late Arnold and Emilia Monteleone. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Tarantino). Adored father of Neil and wife Lora of Old Tappan and daughter Debra Ramsay and husband Richard Jr. of Stony Point.
Although he was everyone’s Pepa, he was the cherished grandfather of his “Delightful Five”, Christopher, Jessica-Lee and her husband Joseph Ruggiero, Fred, Nicole and Gabriella. Dear brother of Joseph and wife Marian and Angela Gleason and husband Neil and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A self-made man, Fred was the owner of N&V International, a waste paper recycling company, and Fred Monteleone Stable. His passions were his family, his horses, his pigeons and his work. He was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was larger than life and had a contagious smile.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 11am at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Blauvelt NY with entombment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale NY. Visiting hours are Monday 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Pizzi Funeral Home 120 Paris Ave. Northvale, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations in Fred’s memory can be made to United Hospice of Rockland, or St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Standardbred Retirement Foundation (adoptahorse.org).
