Georgina Redburn McConville (nee Powrie), 87, of Tappan, passed away on August 17, 2019. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Matthew and loving son Steven. Cherished mother of Matthew McConville and wife Ally of Denver, CO, Brian McConville of Tappan, NY, John McConville and wife Sue Ellen of Jackson, NJ. Adored grandmother of Megan, Jenny, Ian, Steven, John Thomas and Brian and great-grandmother of Finn and Mairi. Dearest sister of Morag and Sandra and the late Margaret and brother Jim. Aunt of many adoring nieces and nephews. Devoted friend May fondly referred to as Aunt May.
Georgina (Gena) was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Tappan and was a member of the choir and the Rosary Society.
Gena loved spending time with her family, reminiscing about her life in Scotland, singing, dancing, cooking and knitting. She was so proud of her home at 29 Clinton Avenue where all were welcomed and neighbors would often gather. Gena hosted magical family holidays filled with love and they will be forever cherished memories.
A sincere admiration and appreciation with gratitude is extended from her family to all her care providers who were not just dedicated but went above and beyond for their “Lady Gena”.
Visiting hours are Friday, August 30, 2019 from 4-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ (201-767-3050). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart with interment following at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter will be appreciated. Your thoughtful donation will be used to support programs and services for individuals with Alzheimers and contribute to respite opportunities for their families.
