William Santo Lumia, formerly of Northvale, New Jersey passed away at his home in Naples, Florida on July 25, 2021, at the age of 89.
Bill is predeceased by his wife Patricia and is survived by his sons Randall (Susan) of Jupiter, Florida, Craig (Tracey) of Naples, Florida, and Glen (Donna) of Old Tappan, New Jersey. Grandfather to Ryan (Nicolette), Nicholas (Danny), Kathleen, Brielle, Matthew, Kayleigh and Sierra. Bill was a devoted husband, son, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, dear friend and co-worker.
On July 19, 1958, Bill married the love of his life, his best friend and adoring wife of 40 years, Patricia. Together, they built a wonderful, active life reveling in summertime fun with family in Indiana and Brimfield, Massachusetts where they spent long weekends and summer vacations when the boys were young, taking pleasure in outdoor adventures. Bill was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War. He had a fulfilling career as a clinical pharmacologist and national director of clinical research at Ciba Geigy Pharmaceuticals. He and Pat adored traveling the world together and in later years delighted in splitting their time between New Jersey and Florida. Patricia departed this life way too soon in 1998. Bill was very proud of his three boys and their families!
Bill was a kind, witty person, quick with a smile who was well-loved as he loved others. He lived a full life and above all adored spending time with his family and friends both in New Jersey and Florida. He enjoyed wood carving, gun collecting, pouring molds at his and Pat’s Northvale Ceramic Studio, gardening, fine dining, drinking a good glass of scotch, the beach, a challenging game of solitaire and always looked forward to family gatherings and holidays.
With love and fond memories, we celebrate your life. You will forever be in our hearts. Rest easy in grace and love.
