Patricia Ann Carney

Patricia Ann Carney (nee Kopac), 74, of Sparkill, NY, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023. Loving wife of Peter. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Bryan and Ally and cherished grandmother “Bae” of Michael. She is also survived by many loving relatives of the Kopac and Savoia families, dear friends and her cherished dog, Johnny.

Pat was dedicated to her family. She was kind, loyal and caring. She would be the first to help anyone in need.  Pat devoted the majority of her life to education working as a teacher for the Suffern Central School District. She was undeniably an animal lover, avid in equestrian, she loved her horses and dogs. Later in life she fell in love with the beauty of West Point, spending her weekends cheering on her beloved Army Black Knights football team.

Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2023 from 5-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John’s RC Church, Piermont, NY at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2023 with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

    My son had Mrs. Carney when he was in the second grade. During February break we took our kids to Disney World. While sitting in a bus waiting to be taken to one of the parks, who enters the bus but Pat. We all kind of squealed when Pat saw my son! She was a lovely person and excellent teacher. Pete and family please accept my sincere condolences. You and I were in the same graduation class at SVHS in 1965.
