    • Ro,What are we gonna do with Daddy?
“2 kinds of people Irish and those who wish they were Irish!”
Daddy grew up without a father or siblings, but he was and amazing father and man!
We were so blessed with both our amazing parents, but we needed more time with Daddy….
What an example he set. Selfless kind, generous. Never wanted attention, never wanting credit, or fanfare! BUT if there was ever a person who deserved it, it was Daddy. Always did what was right , tireless and amazing work ethic family man, fair and true. The friend who was there when no one else was! Quietly helping everyone, he gave us a wonderful life and made sure we appreciated. He adored our mother, and was an excellent example of a husband. So Proud of his nephews and god children. He loved his in-laws, thinking of them and true siblings and his poppy his best friend!
At your wedding he said in his speech, “he wants more grandchildren, and of course named TOM OR MARIE! ”
He loved his grandsons and adored lik Marie, that was his joy!
He gave us life and made it good in every way. God bless us with him.
Truly one of a kind. amazing businessman, super smart, so funny and unique.
There are no were words to describe you.

Yah, what a daughter you were to him! You are the epitome of what a daughter, sister and family member should be! Your father, as well as your siblings, and Mom are so lucky to have you in their lives! You remind me so much of your dad, in so many ways! You have that love for your family that he had as well as his big beautiful heart! As I told you, it is easier to lose a good father than a bad one, because you have all those beautiful memories! Keep them in your heart, and as time goes by, you will be able to smile and think back and all the great things your dad did for you, and how much he meant to you!

    • Catherine Russo Spagna

Rose, my beautiful Goddaughter, your dad loved you all so very much! I am so sorry for your loss. Remember though, you had the best father God could have given you! He lives on in all of you! Of course you will miss him always, but he remains in your heart forever!

  3. Dearest Tom. I’m lost for words and so emotional hearing of your passing. I can hear you calling for Ruthie over n over again. I loved you like a father and never treated you as my patient. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to you. I was still waiting for you to get home so I can continue to take care of you. But God needed you more and I know you’re in a better place now and that I take much comfort in. Rest in the arms of Jesus. Love you forever Tom. Your Ruthie.

You made it possible for me and my family not to worry , any time we asked him anything he always told us he doesn’t need anything Ruthie took care of it!!!

  4. Barry Sullivan ( Tom’s driver and friend) 10/3/2023. I can still remember that Saturday when I met Tom at the Renaissance hotel in NYC some 27 years ago and chauffeured to his home in Long Beach LI. Tom was the gentle soul that my life needed over those many years. He was kind and brilliant. Through over many conversations I have become a kinder caring person. Throughout our many weekly trips in the Tristate area the restaurants were always included. Tom never liked the back seat of the car and I always make sure the King’s seat was always available. Tom knew all the roads and the traffic patterns for every hour of the day, therefore it was always my task to try and overcome the challenges. His compliments about my driving made me eager to be at my best. Looking back I can remember the almost tragic day in November of 2019 after I had returned from a short trip, it was time for a day about town with Tom. There was no answer when I tried calling. With a strong determination I continued to call while driving to his home. Finally he answered the phone and his words were ( I have fallen and I can’t get up) . Somehow I got there and was able to get him medical attention. Throughout the years that I have known Tom, it seems as if there was never a day that we never correspond. Thomas Hoey you were SIPLE THE BEST IN ALL WAY. With Tom everything was awesome. Thanks again Thomas Hoey Sr.for the privilege that you afford me. I will forever love ❤️ you and please call whenever possible. SIEP. (sleep in eternal peace. My Friend.

    • Barry those were such beautiful words. You know Dad loved you. Thank you for always being there for him. God bless you Barry. We are forever grateful.

    • Barry what can I say you one of my father‘s dearest friends and he loves you. I know he was challenging at times but you and he had such a close relationship.
My family and I are always grateful for that day back in 2019 when you rescued him , you gave us many more years with him and we are forever grateful we love you thank you for your kindness and friendship and all you have done for him over the many many years. Your words and sentiments sent us all in tears,
He loves you and so do we!

  5. Mr. Hoey was a wonderful man. Very generous to all.

He was always asking about you. Love you Pee

I was 13 yrs old when I first met Tommy and my now late husband Joe. What started as a friendship of kids at Melody Lanes Bowling, quickly grew into a marriage with Joe and a long standing extended family relationship with Tommy. Many good times were spent at the lanes and when he married Marie, their family became an extension of mine. We had so many good times and tons of laughs together. Tommy was a crazy good-hearted guy but a generous, true and loyal friend. He was spontaneous and loved to have a good time. He could easily stand up in a convertible and “moon” passing cars or grab a garden hose and spray everyone inside the house, through an open window. His crazy antics were all in good clean fun. And yet there was a soft responsible side to him too. When he came to visit us he never neglected to bring extra boxes of fruit to show his appreciation for being invited. But if there were mashed potatoes being served for dinner, he actually thought the entire bowl was all his to eat. Joe and Tom were like brothers growing up in the same neighborhood. And after my husband passed, Tommy called me weekly just to see how I was doing. Our telephone communications lasted 11 1/2 years as we took turns calling and checking up on each other. Those who did not know Tommy well might think he was too rough around the edges but those in his inner circle of friends knew he was the sweetest, kindest, generous and most loyal friend a person could have. His closest friends were family and his family were also his closest friends. You couldn’t help but love him and for all that, he will be sorely missed. Maybe he and Joe are together again and enjoying their brotherhood of friendship once again.

    • Pat what a beautiful tribute, Joey was my father‘s best friend and you and the boys were family to him and all of us ! All of the earliest memories have you guys in it. My father was devastated when Joey passed away. I always remember how we like to tease you. May they be together again now’
Much love to you and the family

    • Pat, your words have me bursting with gratitude and love. So well said. He loved you and Joey and your family. Love you.

    • Catherine Russo Spagna

Pat, Tommy loved you and Joe so much! Tommy and your Joe were 2 characters! As a young girl I looked up to the 4 of you! Always having fun and being together! Tommy was such a great friend & terrific brother in law! He loved his wife & kids with all his heart! He loved your Joe like a brother! God rest their souls! I bet their in heaven together now, coming up with some mischief!

  7. Tommy, from the first time I met you I know you didn’t like me. Then years went by and you started to like me the way I love your wife and your girls. I know for the first time you tried my vodka sauce you enjoyed and were happy. Thats when I realized you have a little piece of my heart. I know you were a good father and wonderful husband. I know when you go to heaven god will embrace you for a wonderful person you were. I hope you continue to look over and protect your family. May you rest in peace, Love GC

  8. I had the honor of knowing Mr.Hoey sense I was a kid … he has never changed.
He had a bluntness about him that was also filled with kindness that was unique to him.
I have gotten some of the best advice from him over my lifetime. His love for his family was unwavering .. I was always in such aww of how strong but kind he was. Mr. Hoey was a Man’s Man and if you knew him then you know what I’m talking about.
He once told me you know when your with the right person .. when ” the most beautiful woman in the world could walk into the room and you wouldn’t look twice at her”
That’s how I feel about my wife .
Now stop dating these Momos and find a real man .
He had a wicked sense of humor and a heart of gold .
How he put up with me hanging around his house for so many years growing up is beyond me.
Yolanda , Tee , and little Rose are my oldest and most dearest friends and Marie and Tom Hoey were like second parents to me growing up and I will forever be grateful that they somehow allowed me to be part of there lives.
The world was a much more colorful with you in it Mr.Hoey … till we meet again I will hold you in my heart and in my prayers.

  9. Our heartfelt sympathy to the Hoey family on the passing of your Patriarch, Tom Sr. He was a true blessing to all of you and will be missed beyond measure. His legacy lives on in all of you and his memory will live on forever in your hearts. God Bless You All at this very difficult time. +Rest in Peace Thomas Hoey Sr.

  10. He was always very giving with his time and always there to support me. We shared a lot of interests and it was great growing up with an Uncle who I could talk with and talk about mutually shared interests- Stanley
He was caring and giving , funny and generous. He welcomed me from day one with open arms into the family. He will be missed. – Nicole

    • Stanley he loves you so much when you married Nicole and had Sienna he was so happy and proud of the family you created and loved you all!

Tommy was my brother-in- law, but in every sense of the word, he was my brother. I loved him so very much! I was 11 yrs younger than Tommy & my sister Marie his wife. I was always with them, all through my youth. Tommy always made me & my friends feel welcome in his home! He was always teasing us about finding boyfriends & having a date for Saturday nights! I must have been such a pain always being there but he always made me feel like their home was my home!nIn the last years of his life, while he was living on Long Island, I spoke to him all the time. He would just call me and shoot the breeze, and he was still the funniest, most charming man I ever knew! He was an exceptional family man. He loved his family more than anything in the world! He provided for them, he was there for them always! He was a perfect example of what a man should be. I will miss Tommy more than words can say, and I know he is in heaven with my dad who loved him so very much and all the other relatives and friends that he’s so cherished that are up there with him now. Rest Tommy till we see you again. It was a blessing to know & love you!

    • He loves you so much! Always always talked about you always loves you! He always told us the story over and over again when he was dating mommy they to Coney Island they spent six hours with you a fortune of money in those days took you on every ride bought you every single thing and you were crying and complaining when you went home!!! Haha
So many millions of stories over the years of your boyfriends and friends all the craziness that went on in our family he was so proud of Joseph and he loved Charlie very and respected him! His famous story when you were bringing a guy home and there was a tenant drunk in the lobby of the house and my father had to come to literally and physically throw him out before your date arrived!
You were his little sister he loved you and talked about you all the time!!

      • Catherine Russo Spagna

Thank you Yah. He was so funny and always had all of us in stitches! My girlfriends used to love to come over to your house, just so your dad could tease them about not having dates! God bless his soul!

  15. Auntie Catherine. I’m in tears, beautifully said. I love you…. Little Rose

  16. Mr. Hoey was a man I had come to respect and like very much. Just from the times we spent either having lunch or even just talking on the phone he always put a smile on my face. Whether it be the stories he told about his growing up and his Bowling days….or just the way he loved his family I could see all the love he had for them and his friends. It was my great pleasure to know him. He will be missed terribly by all those lucky enough to have known him even just a little. My Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

    • Louie you know how much she enjoyed spending time with you and talking with you you guys had so much in common, thank you for all the times we went to visit him and the good times we had with him I appreciate your kind words and support. ❤️

Tom was a very instrumental part of my life. He was a great family man, friend and boss. He treated everyone with respect and lead by example. He taught me how hard work was important but how Family is forever. Tom was to not just be a great person but an amazing father and provider for his family. Men like Tom are hard to find. We lose a great man but Heaven receives an Angel. I will always treasure our conversation on life and work. I will always Long Island Banana and your catch phrases pin to the wall behind your desk. I will never forget a great friend, family member and boss. Tom May God bless the family and may you Rest in Peace.

Our hearts go out to you all. I am reading all these beautiful and true post about Tom & smiling & crying at the same time. We haven’t seen him in years and yet Tom will always hold a special part in our hearts. I cannot tell you what a great friend and cousin Tom was to my Dean. Dean is pretty quiet but he had the very best & truly fun times with Tom, and who wouldn’t! Tom was Tom, truly one of a kind, tough, competitive, & had a heart of gold. He was truly someone who cared about others and loved his family with all of his heart. Because we moved to Florida our visits were few and far between but whenever we saw Tom he’d talk about each of you & how much he was proud of you. He loved his family & you all filled his heart! The last time we visited he was just recuperating from another bout of illness but made the trip to upstate New York from Long Island to see us. I can’t even express how much that meant to us. He was truly the best, Tom will always hold a special place in our hearts & we will miss him till we meet again. Till then he beat us to paradise and I am so sure they are celebrating and having a wonderful card game in heaven. I can hear the laughter & it’s your dad & husband bringing that joy that he shared here, up there with all again! Love each of you so much & no we don’t see each other enough. I wish I could be there but I am in heart and prayer and I love each of you so much. I am praying God give each of you His Comfort & Peace in this heartbreaking time for you all. I know how much you all loved him, hold on to all those beautiful memories. So many people never will have those memories, yours are so special & Tom’s love will shine down on you all always because he will always be watching over you. Many, many hugs, love & prayers for you all. Hugs to heaven Tom!

    • Thank you my dear cousin my father always talked about you and Dean he loves you guys always talked about all the good times!!
