Ana Librada Ramos

Ana Librada Ramos (née Nazario), 100 years old, of Orangeburg, NY, was called to eternal rest on Thursday, November 21, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Angel M. Ramos, a proud veteran.

Born in Rincón, Puerto Rico, Ana arrived in New York City in 1946, where she quickly established herself as a strong, determined, and wise young woman. A graduate of beauty school, Ana worked as a skilled beautician before transitioning to entrepreneurship with her husband, managing successful grocery stores throughout their years together.

Ana was the cherished mother of Gladys Amin and Sister Brunilda Ramos, MPF; loving grandmother to Jennifer and Sharif Amin; and proud great-grandmother to Soluna and Elias Chan. Her unwavering strength, boundless love, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.

We are grateful for the many years we shared with her and take comfort in knowing she now rests peacefully in the embrace of our Lord. May her soul find eternal peace in His kingdom until the day of Resurrection.

We love you always.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 25, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, NY. Interment will follow at Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.

“Madrina” as we, lovingly called her, will be sorely missed. Among many wonderful traits, she was witty and brought laughter to those that surrounded her. I will miss her, and I know the Universe (God) will put her in a place where she will be needed to help others. God bless her and her entire family.

  3. Madrina, I will miss my visits, jokes and laughs with you. I will remember the arroz con dulce you would make for me during the holidays when you were stronger because you were always thankfully healthy even well into 90’s. Madrina, we all called her, it means Godmother. And that she was to manny of us. There was always laughter in her house. 100 years and she was mentality and physically alert to the end. 5. Praise the Lord everyone. I will miss Mama Ramos and her funny stories that Gladys would share with me. One story was that if you would ask Mama Ramos how she was doing, her response was “I’m on the waiting list” to go to heaven. The wait is over…RIP
