John A. Felici

 

John A. Felici, 81, of Northvale, passed away at home on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Beloved husband of Maureen (nee Gray). Loving father of Peggy Ann Nader and husband Joseph of Eastchester, NY, Kathleen Lohrer and husband John of Northvale, Coleen Saccoccio and husband James of Northvale and John Jr. and wife Trish of Pearl River, NY. Adored grandfather of Joseph and wife Sameena, Michael, Dylan, Lance, Taylor, Nicholas, Logan, Grayson, Johnny, Samantha and Danielle and great-grandfather of Violet. Dearest brother of Joyce Macchio of Northvale and the late Daniel Felici and Claire Schweizer. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends.

John was a US Army Veteran. After working for Briscoe’s Auto Repair in Northvale for 25 years, John also worked at Stateline Auto Body and for John Saunier for many years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 10 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY. Visiting hours are Wednesday 3-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Vera “Tillie” Brust

Vera Tecla Brust “Tillie” (nee Lorenzini), 99, of Northvale, passed away at home on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Theodore. Cherished aunt of Patricia Delo and husband Henry of Monmouth Beach and John Lorenzini and wife Nancy of Northvale. She is also survived by many loving great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and her many friends in Northvale and at the Senior Center.

Florence Chaleff

 

Florence Kaselow Chaleff (Flo), daughter of the late Fred and Louise Kaselow, was born in New York City on June 4, 1917 She attended public schools in Manhattan and married her husband, Paul Chaleff, at Temple Adath Israel in the Bronx, NY. on December 15, 1937. Before Paul’s death in 2011, they were happily married for 74 years!

Flo and Paul moved from Manhattan to Teaneck in the mid 1950’s and made their home for the last 25 years at Brookside Village in Harrington Park. During her years in Harrington Park, Flo served as a volunteer at Pascack Valley Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels, organized a bi-monthly Bingo Game at Brookside Village, was a member of the McGuire Senior Citizens Center of Northvale and, most recently, served as President of Club 60, where Harrington Park Mayor Hoelscher paid tribute to Flo’s longevity and life of service to family and community.

Florence is loving mother of Ann Small and her husband, Michael Cannistraci, William Chaleff and his wife, Eva Chaleff, devoted grandmother to Wendy Small and her husband, Joe Peppe, Gregory Small and his wife, Kelly Small, Glenn Chaleff and his wife, Stacey Chaleff, and Amy Weichman and her husband, Michael Weichman. Flo’s nine great-grandchildren who loving call her “GG” range in age 22yrs. to 2 yrs. She was predeceased by her brothers Herbert Kaselow of Chicago and Joseph Kaselow of Glen Rock.

Flo attributed her longevity to always keeping a positive outlook on life experiences and challenges. In addition to being such an important part of her children’s lives, she was equally involved in helping to raise her grandchildren. We will always remember mom for her generosity of spirit, boundless energy, keen mind, and love of life! She has been an inspiration to both family and friends.

Eleanor Sella Bodrato

Eleanor Sella Bodrato, 89, of Closter, passed away at home on Monday, December 11, 2017. The only child of Edward and Ella Sella, Eleanor was born at home in West New York, NJ on June 10, 1928. She attended school there until her family moved to Cliffside Park, NJ where Eleanor graduated HS class of 1946. From there it was off to work at B. Altmans NYC as a secretary and runway model.

Marrying the love of her life Russell Bodrato in 1948, they eventually settled in Closter, NJ raising their 3 children, Gary, Edward and Chanté.

Still while raising their kids Eleanor pursued her career in Fine and Commercial Art. Widely known for her oil paintings and sculpturing, Eleanor’s work can be found in 7 countries, 13 states, on the cover of Law and Order Magazine and in collections of the Georgia Pacific Co.

Eleanor and Russell traveled the US regularly seeing friends and family or just getting away to their place on Singer Island, FL to enjoy the sun. With Russell passing, her daughter Chante became her Girl Friday and primary care giver towards the end.

Eleanor leaves her 3 children and 2 daughters in law, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, first cousins and many friends to remember her.

Mary Louise Strobel

 

Mary Louise Strobel (nee DiFabio), 68, of Northvale, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Beloved mother of Lisa Howard and her husband Timothy of Dunellen, NJ. Adored Nana of Benjamin and Joseph. Cherished sister of John DiFabio and wife Jeanne of Harrington Park and Barbara Harm and husband Richard of Northvale. Dearest aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was a licensed practical nurse.  Throughout her career she cared for her patients with kindness, respect, and love. Her stories of working with the elderly will always be cherished and remembered. Most recently she worked at the Jewish Home in Rockleigh. Prior to that she had worked at The Buckingham in Norwood, the Paramus Veterans Home and Bergen Pines.

Precious daughter of Giulia DeSantis Knopp and John Knopp, loving sister to Nathanael Knopp, Domenico, Giancarlo, Vincenzo, and Giana DiRese. Granddaughter to Colleen and Edmond Frankel, John and Maretta Knopp, Vincenzo and Pauline DeSantis. Loved and adored by her aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished great-granddaughter to her beloved Mema.

 

Our dearest Vivienne, “Vivi Cakes”, “Lil’ Bit”, “Viv-erace”, oh how you blessed us with your big bright eyes, infectious laugh and ability to bring us such joy and happiness! Aspasia Gatanas

Aspasia Gatanas (nee Gravanis), 64, of Maywood, passed away at home on Sunday, December 3, 2017. She was born in East Harlem and grew up in NYC. Aspasia raised her family in Westwood and Cresskill, NJ. Beloved wife of Nicholas. Loving mother of three sons, Dimitri and wife Sara of Demarest, Alexander of NYC and Achilles and wife Beth of Haworth. Adored grandmother of Pericles, Steven, Theodore and Zoe. Dearest sister of Emily Anton and the late Basil Gravanis.

Aspasia, together with her family, owned and operated Urban Garden Center in NYC for many years. She was well known and adored by customers and garden aficionados from all over the city. Over the years, she was an active member of her church and children’s schools. She was the most gracious hostess and opened her home to all.

Frank A. Malora

Frank A. Malora, 89, of Norwood, formerly of Northvale passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017. Beloved husband of Marion (nee Hirn). Devoted father of Todd and wife Laurie of Philadelphia, PA, Gregg and wife Eileen of Blauvelt, NY, Glenn and wife Bonnie of Harrington Park and the late Scott. Dearest brother of Paul and wife Winnie and the late Mary. Adored grandfather of Douglas, Daniel, Kimberly, Maeve, Megan, Devon, Matthew and Aine. Cherished great-grandfather of Parker, Finn and their imminent newest cousin.

Frank was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Northvale VFW. He also belonged to the Northvale Senior Center and Golden Agers and was a Mason in the St. Cecile Lodge in NYC. Frank retired from the NY Times in Edison, NJ as a machinist.

NORTHVALE, NJ- Elizabeth Pustina was born on September 29, 1965 in Diber, Macedonia to Bardhyl and Azemina Pustina.  She died Wednesday, November 29, 2017.  Elizabeth was a hair colorist and made many friends along her journey.  She was a proud Mother who lovingly cared for her family.  She is survived by her parents, Bardhyl and Azemina; her three siblings, Diane Pustina, Teuta Pustina Alajbegu, and Genci Pustina; her children Artesa Lleshi, Arbenora Lleshi, Kreshnik Lleshi, and Arjeta Lleshi.  Visitation from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Pizzi Funeral Home, Paris Avenue, November 30, 2017.
