John “MACK” McLafferty

John P. McLafferty “MACK”, 82, of Norwood, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018. Mack was a proud United States Marine. He served 20 years in the Corps , did two tours in Vietnam and rose to Staff Sargent before retiring. He then worked at John J. Demarest Supply as a security guard for 27 years. He also belonged to the Marine Corps League and the Norwood American Legion.

Mack is survived by his brother James and his wife Marilyn of Red Hook, NY and sister Margaret Lowe and her husband Stanley of Harrington Park. He is also the beloved uncle of four nephews, two nieces, two great-nephews and two great-nieces.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victories RC Church, Harrington Park. His cremains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours are Monday 4-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Arthur William “Bill” Ryan

Arthur William “Bill” Ryan, 78, of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of May 2, 2018. Bill was born on July 26, 1939, in Timmins, Ontario, to Lois Rogers, and had a younger brother, Grant, who predeceased him. Bill was married to Catherine Ryan (nee Dorney) and had a daughter, Julie Ryan. Bill was a Vice President for A.C. Nielson for over 30 years, before retiring to his favored activities including golfing, fishing, and socializing with friends. In his younger years, Bill held Canadian titles in Enduro Racing, was a competitive Side Car Racer, and was an avid hockey player and well-loved coach. Even into his 60’s, Bill would love to play hockey with the local teenagers at Stone Point Park, in Old Tappan. Later in life, Bill could be found fawning over his beloved granddaughter, Ella; wrangling golfers as a ranger at River Vale Golf Club; paling around with his loyal four legged side kick, Luna. Bill is survived by his wife, Cathy, his daughter, Julie, and his granddaughter, Ella; and many beloved relatives in Canada.

Mary Ann Trasmundi

Mary Ann Trasmundi (nee Witham), 77, of Dumont, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Emil. Devoted mother of MaryLynn LaMarca and husband Greg of Paramus, Elizabeth Trasmundi of Philadelphia, PA, Annette Mattesich and husband Marty of Northvale, Kim Porto of Paramus and Anthony Trasmundi and wife Brenda of Dumont. Cherished “Gooma” of Nicholas, Christian, Jake, Emily, Emil, Carly, Natalie and Alana. Dearest sister of Rose Mary Cagle and was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Mary was the founder of The Growing Garden Nursery School in Paramus. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed flowers and tending to her garden and was an official member of the Clay Aiken Fan Club.

Kevin J. Ramsay

Kevin J. Ramsay, 53, of Sparkill, NY, formerly of Tappan, NY, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 30, 2018. Cherished son of Judge Richard Ramsay and his late wife Virginia of Nyack. Loving brother of Ellen Ramsay and husband Jay Naparstek of Hendersonville, NC, Richard G. Ramsay Jr. and wife Debra of Stony Point, NY and Lynda Clarke and husband John of Hendersonville, NC. Adored uncle of Christopher, Jessica-Lee (Joseph), Devlin, Virginia and Gabriella.

Kevin was a realtor, builder and owner at Ramsay Realty and KJ Rock Builders, both in Blauvelt. He had been a board member of the Nyack Rotary Club and Rockland Country Club in Sparkill. Besides being an avid golfer, Kevin loved riding his Harley, especially on Sunday mornings with his “gang”, had a passion for cars and took pride in the new home he had just completed. Kevin had a unique relationship with all of his nieces and nephews and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Anthony A. Carpanini

Anthony A. Carpanini, 92, of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Trudy. Loving father of Mark and wife Barbara, Alan and wife Ellie, Sandra DeSevo and husband Joseph, Russell and wife Pam and Mary Mazzie and husband Michael. Cherished grandfather of eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dearest brother of the late Gino and Dante.

Anthony was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a stationary engineer for Local 30 Operating Engineers, NY, NY.

John A. Wenston

John A. Wenston, 68, of Cresskill passed away on April 15.  Beloved husband of 26 years of Carol (Tobia).  John is also survived by his children Lisa Remo, Jenny Novack and Jeffrey Novack and his 5 grandchildren: Penelope, Riley, Madison, Buddy & Greta.  John is also survived by his brothers Paul and Thomas and his sister Margaret. He is predeceased by his brother William and his parents Robert and Joyce.

John graduated from Yale University and retired from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the Pittsburgh Steelers (his hometown) while snacking on peanut butter ice cream.

His children lovingly referred to him as Honey and later Grandpa Honey by his grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050) on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Vincent Ferrara

Vincent Ferrara, 82, of Northvale, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018. Beloved husband of Rosemary (nee Viscuglia). Devoted father of Lisa Carbaugh and husband Rick of Northvale, Christopher Ferrara and wife Vitalina of Norwood and Lorraine Catalano and husband Anthony of Ridgefield, CT. Proud grandfather of Stephanie, Christina, Marisa, Robert, Anthony and Francesca. Dearest brother of Mary Faggione, Tony Ferrara and wife Carol and the late Felicia, Charles and Angelina.

Vincent worked 10 years in the family business, Ferrara Bros. Meat Market before joining the Cement and Concrete Workers Union Local 6 in Flushing, retiring after 20 years. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he was a fun-loving man and especially enjoyed bowling and trips to Atlantic City.

Lena Dimataris (nee Chakonas), 84, of Norwood, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Socrates. Devoted mother of Gregory and Ali Dimataris, Pericles Dimataris and Terry and Despina and Joe Rizzo. Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Gregory, Matthew, Melissa, Lena, Socrates, Pericles, Joseph, Joey and Nikole. Dearest sister of Pauline Karalis and the late Mary Chakonas and Bessie Georgian. Lena and her husband Socrates owned and operated Northvale Florist for many years before retirement.

Kristin Nicole Campbell

Kristin Nicole Campbell, 20, of Hackensack, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018. She was the beloved daughter of Kevin and Janice Campbell. Cherished niece of Cheryl DeGrosa and Diana and the late Jay Campbell. Loving cousin of Jamie DeGrosa and her daughter Arianna. Predeceased by loving grandparents Pauline and Carl Fisher and Margaret and John Campbell.

Kristin attended Paramus Catholic High School and excelled at softball and basketball. She loved animals and had dreams of attending the Police Academy. Kristin was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by all who knew her.
