Danielle McMurrough, 61, of New York, NY passed away on Sunday, February 27th following a short illness. Survived by sisters Patrice (and Robert) Fitzsimons of Pearl River, NY, Maureen (and Martin) Kahl and Christine McMurrough, both of Glendale, NY. Proud and loving aunt to: Jessica, Julie, Christie, Katie, Emily, Grace, Amanda and Patrick. Boasting great aunt to: Scott, Allison, Hollie, James, Graeme, Eva, Vivi, Aiyla, Angelo and Luna. Danielle was a devout New Yorker, committed to her village, her community and her friends. Her independent spirit fostered many dreams, and adventures, and her family will carry them with love.

A graveside service will he held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 1 PM at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Victoria Wong

Victoria Wong, 61, of Bronx, NY, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022. Beloved mother of Angela Wong. Cherished daughter of Kam Wan Fung and the late George C. Wong. Dearest sister of Gloria, Daniel and Donald and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Victoria worked as a business administrator for Fordham University and New York University. She was a caring person who had a big heart and would always see the good in people. She was also a big animal lover and absolutely adored puppies, they would practically make her melt. Vicky enjoyed food (all different cuisines), binge watching shows, and listening to music. She would always make it point to take pictures with family whenever there were get-togethers.

Her kind and sweet soul will dearly be missed and forever remembered.

Scott W. Baarens

Scott W. Baarens, 49, of Mebane, NC, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from complications after a brief illness. Born in Paterson, NJ to the Late William Baarens and surviving Nancy Baarens. He was raised in Norwood, NJ with his sister Dorothy (Mike).

Growing up he worked for D’Ercole Farms where Larry, Gus and Joey taught him everything he knew about plants, trees, and lawn care. After graduating High School in Old Tappan and conquering Seaside Heights as the original Jersey Shore guido, he went on and took all that knowledge and owned the landscaping company, The Lawn King of Norwood. He later changed careers and worked for stone company Pasvalco where he met and is survived by his beautiful wife Lisa and their three beautiful children, Ashley, 17, Scott, 16, Daniel, 10. He then went to work for Walmart as a Maintenance Supervisor in Manahawkin, NJ,  Saddle Brook, NJ, and then in Mebane, NC where he lived for the last 11 years. He is also survived by numerus nieces and nephews aged 31 yrs to 10 months and he was a great-uncle to 2 nieces and a nephew on the way.

Ronald Vincent Albanese

Ronald Vincent Albanese, 73, of Westwood, NJ, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Beloved husband of 37 years of Lily (nee Quiñones). Cherished father of Allison Nazario and her husband Isaiah, Vincent James Albanese and his wife Breanna, and Natalie Foy and her husband Anthony. Proud and loving grandfather of Ethan, Lyla, Noah, Lucas and Vincent. Dearest brother of Kenneth and wife Christine, Robert, and Peggy. He was recently predeceased by his loving parents, Vincent and Carmen Albanese.

Ron was an auto technician for 39 years for Prestige Motors in Paramus and had just recently retired. A true “Mr. Fix It-” he could do anything. Always busy, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, working on cars, and wood-working. Most of all, he loved being with his family- especially his five grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pa.” He enjoyed every moment of the seven years He got to be their beloved “Pa” as he showered them with special meals, fun adventures, and endless love. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Kenneth K. Parron

Kenneth K. Parron, 52, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Milwaukee, WI. Born in Flemington, NJ on November 10, 1969 to the late Juan Parron and Ingeborg Mabie. Raised by his late mother and step father Henry Mabie in Old Tappan, NJ where he graduated class of 1987.  Surviving are his children Jade Parron and Jesse Parron, grandsons Jordan and Jackson, brother Dr. John K. Parron, aunt’s Eleanor Jenson and Dorothy Detsch, and many cousins.

Kenny was a purchasing agent for Raimondo Construction in Fort Lee, NJ for many years. During his free time he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working on home improvement projects, and spending time with his kids.  He loved vacations to his lake house in Pennsylvania, visiting relatives in Orlando or attending bike week in Daytona Florida, and trips to New York City.

Later in life, Kenny followed his path to Milwaukee, WI where he resided and worked as a building superintendent. He gained the reputation of “Mr. Fix-It” by generously helping anyone in need while also inspiring his colleagues with his meticulous work ethic.

Everyone who knew Kenny will remember his alluring charm, contagious laugh, and infectious smile.  Although he led an unconventional life he left an everlasting impression on all those who knew him; he will be deeply missed.

Arlene F. Forma

Arlene F. Forma (nee Bonanno), 78, of Chestnut Ridge, NY, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, formerly of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Beloved wife of Vincent R. Forma. Loving mother of Vincent G. Forma and his wife Kathleen of Harrington Park, NJ as well as Robyn Armao and her husband Anthony of Park Ridge, NJ. Very proud Nana to her grandchildren Charlotte, Annaliese, Gabriella and Vincent M.

Arlene worked for many years in banking in both Northvale and Montvale. She was a member of the Women’s Club in Old Tappan and was past-president. She loved watching the New York Yankees, holiday dinners, cooking, entertaining and spending summers with family and friends in Cape Cod and Atlantic City.

Allan Joseph “Aldo” Frohlich

Allan Joseph Frohlich “Aldo”, 59, of Northvale, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Proud father of Rachel. Dearest brother of Deborah DiRese and Camilo, Michael Frohlich and Patricia, Patricia Palmer and Chris, Jeffrey Frohlich and Diane, Edwin Frohlich, Jr. and Tracey. Also survived by Rachel’s mother, Sue Cheringal –Drennan and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and loyal friends. He was predecessed by his loving parents, Edwin and Janet Frohlich.

Allan was a carpenter for local 253, Hackensack, NJ. He loved going to Maine, the outdoors and especially fishing. He will be missed.

Dr. Robert C. Schelin

Dr. Robert C. “Doc” Schelin, 76, of Tappan, NY since 1952, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Born in Jersey City, NJ on June 11, 1945 to the late Gunhild and Carl Schelin. He was the beloved husband of Carol R. Schelin (nee Ricketts), whom he married August 3, 1974 in Belmont, NY. Loving father of Leslie R. Heffernan (nee Schelin) and her husband Clark. Dear brother of the late Carol L. Schelin. He is also survived by many loving family members, friends, students, colleagues and athletes across the spectrum in Tappan, Rockland County and beyond.

Bob received his PhD from SUNY Binghamton in May of 1975. He was the Dean of Student Affairs at St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY, where he was also a professor of history and political science, women’s and men’s basketball team rep and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society advisor.

Robert led a life dedicated to public service. A 50 year life-member of the Volunteer Fire Association of Tappan and was past-president, was Secretary of Commissioners for the Tappan Fire District and most notably, was Tappan’s Santa Claus. He was on the Rockland Community College Board of Trustees and was a member of the RCC Foundation. Robert served on the Town of Orangetown Highway Advisory Committee, the Orangetown Parks and Recreation Committee and the Republican Party Committee. He also volunteered in Wellsville, NY annually at the Ridgewalk and Run and belonged to the Baltic-Framat Chapter of the New Jersey Vasa Order of America.

Robert was a member of the Tappan Reformed Church, Tappan, NY, and was vice-president of the consistory and cemetery chairperson. He was also a Freemason, Stony Point Waywayonda Lodge, Sparkill, NY and the Order of the Eastern Star, Stony Point Chapter 540, Sparkill, NY. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, was past-president of the Blauvelt-Orangeburg Chapter and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

Visiting hours were Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 3-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Service was held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11 AM at the Tappan Reformed Church with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery.

Joseph Salerno

Joseph Salerno, 77, of Norwood, NJ, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Beloved husband of Carolyn (nee Davanzo). Loving father of Ralph and proud grandfather of Nicholas. Dearest brother of Dominic and the late Anthony, Michael and John. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Joe was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Norwood American Legion and the Northvale VFW. Joe recently retired from the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders where he was chief engineer for over 52 years.

George C. Wong

George C. Wong, 98, of Chestnut Ridge, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  He was the devoted father of Victoria Wong, Gloria Wong, Daniel Wong and Donald Wong. He was a cherished grandfather of Angela, Dion, Sean, Dylan, Brittany, Arienne, Danielle and Matthew.

George was a first generation Chinese American born in San Jose, CA.  He proudly served in the US Army during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He later moved to NY and worked as a Maître D at many fine restaurants such as the Opera House and Tappan Hill restaurant.   While raising his kids together with his ex-wife Kam Fung, he managed to provide his kids things that he could not afford, such as buying his daughter and son musical instruments while they were going to school.  He always had a love and passion for horses and since he couldn’t afford one, he would go to many different racetracks to watch them race. 

 George enjoys family gatherings such as graduations, birthday parties and holidays.  He enjoys eating and spending time with his grandkids. 

He will be fondly remembered for his love and dedication to his children and grandchildren.  Although he has passed, he will always be remembered as a kind and compassionate caring father and grandfather.
