Josephine C. Daniels (nee Dellava), 90, of Harrington Park, formerly of Norwood, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. Beloved wife of the late William J. Daniels. Loving mother of Celia Cuk and husband John of Danbury, CT, Elizabeth Pawlak and husband Guy of Wayne and Carolyn Contreras and husband John of Norwood. Proud grandmother of Emily, Sarah, Olivia, Melanie, William, Benjamin and Philip. Dearest sister of Angelina Taylor and the late Arthur Dellava and Norma Kirsch.

Josephine was born on her family’s farm in Closter, NJ. After raising her children she was a secretary for the Borough of Norwood for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Club 60 in Harrington Park, the Norwood Senior Center and was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people but her cherished grandchildren were the love of her life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24 at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY. Visiting hours are Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Jeremiah M. Kane

Jerry Kane, 84, of Denville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2018 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Jerry was born to the late Jeremiah and Mary (Coughlin) Kane on September 14, 1933, in the Bronx, New York.  He attended Cardinal Hayes High School, then joined  the Navy where he served on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific .  After returning from his service, Jerry graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Upon completing his degree, Jerry was employed as an electrical engineer by General Electric working on the famous GE exhibit at the 1964 World’s Fair.  Jerry then went on to work at Louis Allis and Reliance Electric for many years.

In 1958 Jerry married Marie Kane and started a family.  He is survived by three of their four loving children and their spouses: Mary Kane and Jack McMaster of Basking Ridge, NJ; Michael Kane and Loretta (O’Brien) Kane of Tappan, NY; and Susan Kane of Asheville, NC; along with six of their seven grandchildren: Mike, Matt, Bobby and Danny McMaster, and Danny and Chris Kane; his two loving sisters: Mary Kane of Blauvelt, NY and Ann Mellett, and her husband Bill, of Suffern, NY; and his beloved cousin, the late Patricia (Cullen) Kiernan of Potomac, MD.  He was predeceased by his beloved son Danny Kane in 1983, and grandson baby Michael Kane in 1997.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm at the Pizzi Funeral Home at 120 Paris Ave., Northvale, NJ  07647.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, July 23, 2018 at St. Catharine’s Church located at 523 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY  10913.  Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY  10952.

Vincent A. Michello of New City, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 17, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Vincent was born on February 24, 1950, in New York City, to Anthony and Antoinette. He moved to New City where he raised his family with his pre-deceased wife, Mary. He was proud of his daughter Cheryl and son-in-law, Robert Iorio and their four daughters, Victoria, Giuliana, Gabriella, and Olivia. He was equally proud of his son Vincent and his daughter-in-law, Laura and their three children Vincent, Tommy, and Lyla. Vincent is also survived by his sister Bridget and brother-in-law Artie Morris of New City and his sister Janet Michello of Valley Cottage.

Vincent was an avid golfer and he enjoyed Yankee baseball. He was fond of his winter escapes with family and friends to Boca Raton, Fl. and his “happy place,” Brigantine Beach, NJ.

His long career began in 1969 working as an electrician for IBEW Local Union #3. After more than four decades he retired as General Foreman of Electrical Trade Shows at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. He later became Vice President of Event Solutions at Jacob Javits.

Edith C. Casey (nee Sittel), 89, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Loving mother of Michael Casey and wife Linda, Sr. Sharon A. Daniel (Donal) Dennehy, 86, of Tappan, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Beloved husband of Bernadette (nee Doyle) for 59 years. Cherished father of Daniel and wife Kathleen of Stony Point, Anne Swann and husband Todd of Tappan, John and wife Jeannie of Piermont, Bernadette Wiese and husband Larry of Dumont, Sheila D’Auria and husband Joe of Orangeburg and Philip and wife Debbie of Tappan. Proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Agnes, brothers, Philip and Sean and sister, Sheila.

Daniel was born in Queens, NY but was raised in Dublin Ireland where he met the love of his life. Daniel and Bernadette emigrated to New York in 1957 where they were married and raised their family.

Daniel was a member of the NYC District Council of Carpenters. He retired as a Supervisor of Carpenters from the NYC Board of Education. He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tappan, an avid set dancer and member of the Pearl River Ceili Set Dancing Group, a Scout Master for over 20 years and was a lifelong Pioneer.

John G. Seretis, 79, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was born in Nafpaktos, Greece. He was a Dumont resident for over 40 years. John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Toula, in 2012. Loving father of George and his wife Pam of Logan Twp., and Van and his wife Christine of Emerson NJ. Cherished Papou of Jonathan, Zachary, Lexi, Caroline, Stephanie, Nicholas, and Julia. Dear brother of four sisters. John, along with his wife Toula, owned Casa Hofbrau in Emerson for over 20 years. A devoted family man, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all of their sports and other activities. John was a passionate fan of the Giants and Yankees. He also enjoyed spending his free time at the horse track and watching soccer. John will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a hard worker, and a good friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a passion for life.

Linda R. Ochse (nee Petersen), 72, of Valley Cottage, NY, formerly of Norwood, NJ, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 9, 2018. Linda was a bookkeeper for Ferguson Plumbing Supply in Spring Valley for many years. She had also been a member of the Norwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Richard Carney, 68, of Tappan, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Beloved husband of Laurie (nee Prentice) for 45 years. Cherished father of Robert and wife Kellyann of Northvale, NJ, Thomas and wife Roxana of Florida, NY, Laura Heyn and husband Derek of Ramsey, NJ, and Curtis and wife Cassandra of Tappan. Richie was a life member of the Northvale Fire Department. He owned and operated Modern Office Equipment in Montvale for many years before working for T.O.P.S. in NYC. Rich enjoyed time with family and friends, going fishing and hunting and spending time upstate.

Garland Clifford Bandy, Jr. “Jim”, 73, of Northvale and Norwood, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Jim was a proud US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman and as one friend commented, he will be fondly remembered as one of Northvale’s colorful characters.

He is survived by his loving children; Christina Atwood and husband Matt, Michael Brenner and wife Dawn, Shane Bandy and wife Roxanne, Leah Meskis and Matt Bandy. Beloved grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of two. Cherished brother of Lee Bandy and wife Pat, Donna Plescia and husband Anthony and the late Robert and his wife Joyce. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Thomas Wright, 99, of Hillsdale, formerly of Palisades Park, died Friday, June 29, 2018, at home. Tom was born in Ridgefield, the son of Thomas C.Wright and Hilda Lustmann. He was a graduate of Leonia High School, class of 1935.  During World War II he served in the CB division of the Navy stationed in Virginia, California and eventually in the South Pacific where he constructed a base in the island of Manus. After the war, he was employed as an accountant by John Waldvogel in Ridgefield for many years. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria (nee Speciale) of 71 years and is survived by his  sons, Mark T. and Keith D. and his wife, Anne, and two grandsons, Christian and his wife,  Jennifer and Matthew and his fiancee Adrienne as well as three great-grandchildren: Tyler Jameson, Riley Elizabeth, and John Thomas.  He is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews.  Thomas loved music and played tenor saxophone for 91 years. He was an early member of the Palisades Park Fire Dept. Band from 1949 until about 1970. From the late 1930’s he played in various dance bands regularly until the 1980’s.  After then he volunteered to play at various nursing homes and rehabs, notably at the Jewish Home in Rockleigh and the Gallen Center.  He played 49 music engagements at the age of 98.

The family will celebrate his life and love of music in a memorial at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., Northvale on Saturday, July 14th  from 2PM- 5PM.   Donations in his memory will gratefully accepted by Swim-in for the Handicapped c/o Barbara A.
