Louis B. DeGhetto

Louis B. DeGhetto, 90, of Saddle Brook, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Beloved husband of 61 years to Lillian (nee Labzda). Loving father of Lisa Piehler and husband Ed of Northvale and the late Donna Raphael. Proud grandfather of James and wife Lindsey, Alicia, Madison and Benjamin. Dear father-in-law of James Raphael and his partner Grianne.

Lou was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as the General Manager of the Bergen Mall in Paramus.  After retiring, he worked part time at the Paramus Golf Course.  He was a parishioner of St. Philip’s Church and was a member of the Kiwanis International, both of Saddle Brook.

Visiting hours are Sunday, May 1 from 3 PM – 6 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 2 at 10 AM at St. Philip’s Church, 488 Saddle River Rd, Saddle Brook, NJ with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.

John DelJuidice

John DelJuidice 73, passed away suddenly at his home in Ft. Myers on April 8th. John was born to Thomas and Anna DelJuidice in the Bronx, NY. A graduate of the school of hard knocks, John was a tradesman, business owner, and real estate entrepreneur.   

A loving husband to Louise for 53 years, a mentoring father to his only son, Louis and embraced as his own daughter his daughter-in-law Selene. John doted on his two grandchildren Johnny and Victoria and regaled anyone who would listen about their accomplishments, from piano recitals to soccer goals.

John loved fast cars, a good laugh, great wine, delicious food, and his friends and family. He was a person who could light up a room with his presence, and the twinkle in his eye, and his warm demeanor will be sorely missed.

John is survived by his beautiful wife, his son and family, his brother Philip, sister-in-law Caroline, his in-laws Tom and Margaret, and his loving nieces and nephews, Carole Ann, Louise, Tommy, Michael and their families.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, April 30th at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, 150 Harriot Ave, Harrington Park, NJ at 10:00 am. A memorial ceremony will immediately follow at Saint Anthony’s Church Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY.

Anthony D. Altomare

Anthony D. Altomare , “Curly”, 92, of Blauvelt, passed at home on Monday, April 25, 2022. Cherished husband of the late Dolores (nee Ambrosini). Devoted father of Philip, Anthony, Jr. and Diana. Proud grandfather of Philip, Jr., Anthony, Rocco, Nicholas, David, Dominic, Douglas and Dolores and great-grandfather of seven. Dearest brother of the late Lillian Romano and her husband Vincent and the late Gennaro Altomare. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Anthony was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Detective 1st Grade for the NYPD before retiring and starting SIA Security Investigation which he operated for over 30 years. Anthony was a charter member and past president of the Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176, Blauvelt, a parishioner of St. Catharine’s Church, Blauvelt, a devoted member of Mt. Carmel Church, NY, NY and a lifelong devotee of St. Felice.

John R. Pizzi

John R. Pizzi, 98, of Naples, FL, formerly of West New York and Garfield, died Sunday April 10, 2022 at his home in Naples. He was born in Garfield and was a member of the 1939 Garfield High School National Football Champions team. During WW II he served in the US Marine Corps and saw action the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Okinawa, South Pacific. John and his brother Angelo owned and operated Castle Lanes in West New York after which he went into a partnership with Al Santoniello opening The Edge in Fairview.

He is predeceased by six siblings, Joseph, Dr. Peter, Angelo, Frank, Louis and Terry

He is survived by his sister Angie Herina and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize Hilda Lucero for the dedication and loving care she gave to John in the last years of his life, “She was his Angel”.

Vivian Smith

Vivian Smith (nee Mione), 80, of Lorton, VA, formerly of Tappan, NY, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. She was predeceased by two husbands, Louis Tomasello and Floyd Smith, her beloved son, Vincent Tomasello, her brother, Vincent Mione, dearest sister-in-law of Mary Ann Mione, and John & Gertrude Tomasello. Vivian is survived by her son, Gregory and his wife Michele of Tappan, NY and her daughter DanaAnn Sisson and her husband Christopher of Lorton, VA. She was the proud and devoted Nana of Vincent, Alexis, Louis and Nathaniel. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Vivian was an administrative assistant at Jawonio Inc, New City, NY. She was an active member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Romanesque Lodge 2198 in Blauvelt, Catholic Daughters of America, Red Hat Society, and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tappan as well.

Visiting hours are Friday, May 20, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tappan on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10 AM, with inurnment to follow at Tappan Cemetery.

Janet Ann Abatta

Janet Ann Abatta (née Murray), 84, of Norwood, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Anthony Abatta and cherished son, Anthony Abatta. She was the devoted mother of Kathleen Puglia and husband John of Northvale, NJ, Susan Pollack and husband Howard of Charlottesville, VA, Debra Ann Lupo and husband Vito of Maywood, NJ and Michele Stengl and husband Milan of Coraopolis, PA. Proud grandmother of Michael and wife Kate, James and fiancée Brielle, Amanda, Jessica, Toni-Ann, Nina and husband Christian, Eva and Luka. Dearest sister of Jacquelynne Nicholls and husband George, and the late Albert, Teresa and Joan. Loving sister-in-law of Carol Miller and late husband George.

Janet was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Although Janet was Irish and German, her family and friends will always remember her outstanding Italian cooking. She was also known for her sense of humor and sense of style. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed watching soap operas and playing cards, games and digital solitaire.

Richard Schembri

Richard Schembri, 81, of Mesa AZ, formerly of Hackensack, passed away Monday, January 17th, 2022. He was the loving partner of Linda Rosso. Cherished Father of Toni Vilardi & Rob of Dumont, Lisa Schembri & Bob of Fort Montgomery and Dean Schembri of Northvale. He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren, Anthony, Jake, Maddie, Jada, Taylor, Dean & Joey. Dear brother of Joseph Schembri & Erin, & Chuck Schembri.  Also survived by Angela Schembri.
Rich was employed at Red Star Express and was a business owner before retiring to Arizona.
He had many hobbies but the two he enjoyed most were riding his Harley Davidson and drinking his coffee.

Teresa Ann Schott (nee Powers), 94, of Hillsdale, NJ, formerly of Rockland County, NY, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Alfred. Mary H. Reisenauer

​Mary H. Reisenauer – December 16, 1930 to April 9, 2022. Mary was born in Louisville, KY and spent her youth in Brooklyn. NY. She married George D. Reisenauer on May 10, 1953. They moved to High Falls, NY where they had a working farm for numerous years.   She had four children and always said that raising them was the highlight of her life.  She worked with a local company as their bookkeeper and office manager.  Later she moved to Norwood, NJ where she worked in the business office of T. Baldwin Demarest School, Old Tappan NJuntil her retirement. She was a talented artist receiving awards for her paintings, a gifted sewer, crocheter and embroiderer.  She was also a master builder.  She was a world traveler well into her 80’s. She was truly a renaissance woman.  Mary was a devout Catholic, attending Mass daily for much of her life. She is survived by her children, Eric Reisenauer of Owego, NY; Mary Pearson of Downingtown, PA; Lauren Reisenauer of Norwood, NJ and Elyse Reisenauer of Charlotte, NC; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Patricia Maloney

Patricia Maloney (nèe Smith), 86, of Tappan, New York, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. 

Beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Maloney. Loving mother of Anne Bondulich and John Maloney and his wife Kathy. Proud grandmother of Jennifer (Joseph), Kellyanne (Patrick), John, Jack, Ryan and Allison. Dear sister of Catherine Mikulsky, the late John Smyth, the late Bea Weinmann and husband JosephWeinmann. Also survived by her son-in-law John Bondulich and brother-in-law Michael Maloney (late wife Joan). Patricia was also adored by her nieces, nephews and cousins and will be fondly remembered and missed by all.

Patricia was born on July 16, 1935 in the Bronx. Patricia’s parents Patrick and Rose (nèe Ward) emigrated from Ireland, where they raised Patricia and her three siblings. In 1964, Patricia and her husband moved to Tappan to raise their family, where they met many lifelong friends. Patricia was a devout Catholic and a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan. She and her husband Jack loved spending winters at their home at Tiffany Pines in Naples, Florida and enjoying the sunsets on the beach.

Visiting hours are Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 3 pm to 6 pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, located at 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery.
