Agnes R. Cacciola

Agnes R. Cacciola (nee DeLuca), 87 of Tappan passed away on , Thursday, November 22 after a long illness which she bravely fought. Agnes was born on October 11, 1931 in Binghamton, New York to Antonio and Josephine (nee DeBella) DeLuca. She was the wife of the late Agatino Cacciola and mother to Camille Paolino of Chatham, NJ, and Joseph Cacciola and his wife Sandra of Wilbraham, MA. She enjoyed and cherished her time with her grandchildren, Jenna Morin and husband David, Nicholas Charles and husband Arthur, Paul Cacciola and wife Jordan, and Jamie Paolino. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph DeLuca, his companion Marie and family, and brother-in-law Daniel and wife Nancy, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Agnes was employed in Orangetown School District and then by Lamont Doherty Geological Observatory of Palisades, NY, for 22 years. She was the past president of the Romanesque Lodge # 2198 from 1983 to 1985, as well as a proud member for 45 years. She was also a member of the Orangetown Seniors, the Order Sons of Italy, and the Catholic Daughters of America, serving in several positions.

 

Visiting hours are scheduled at the Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale, NJ, on Wednesday from 3 to 6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, NY at 10 AM on Thursday. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Memories, Washington Twp, N.J.

Theresa A. Scarangello

Theresa A. Scarangello, 87, of Tappan, NY, passed away on October 30 after a brief illness.

Theresa was employed by NY telephone and subsequently AT&T where she held numerous management positions until she retired after 28 years of service.

Simultaneously she worked at Bamberger’s/Macy’s selling cosmetics. She was a wonderful salesperson due to her energetic and vivacious personality.

She is survived by her son Michael of Montvale, NJ, son Peter and wife Cheryl of Nanuet and their children Nicholas, Joseph and Steven and daughter Debra Mahoney and husband Frank.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate the life of this incredible woman.

Because of her love for animals, donations in her memory can be made to your local animal shelter or the ASPCA.

Daniel Marone, Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Marone, Jr. announce his passing at the age of 84 on November 9, 2018. He was in born in 1934 in Hackensack, NJ and grew up in River Edge, NJ. He met the love of his life in Hackensack and was married for 50 years to the late Wilma (Searles) Marone. His children include Dannette (Albert) Voorhis, Donna Patton, Debra (William) DuVall, Daniel (Soraya) Marone and the late Dawn (Brian) Cavanagh. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, his sister Stella, his brother Carmen and the late Peter Marone.

He was in the Navy on the USS Macon from 1952-1956 during the Korean War where he learned his trade as master electrician. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Service Defense Medal and the Navy Occupational Medal.

After four years in the service, he resided in Hackensack, NJ and worked as an electrician. In 1962 he moved to Park Ridge, NJ, where he resided for 57 years. He started his own company, Marone Electric, which he ran for over 50 years serving the greater Bergen County area. He was a former member of the Elks, VFW and American Legion. His final resting place will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

Marion T. Kivlehan

Marion Theresa Kivlehan passed away on November 15, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 83 years old.

The daughter of Thomas and Mary Flynn McNama, she was born in the Bronx, NY, on November 15, 1935.

Marion worked for the New York Telephone Company for many years as a Secretary for the Vice President of the Legal Department, on Vesey Street in Manhattan. She left this position in 1963 when she became a stay at home Mom for many years raising four boys. Later in life when her boys were older she babysat for many families in the community. Marion also was a part-time Secretary for Dr.’s Mahendra and Sushila Gupta’s family practice in Blauvelt, NY.

Marion loved her Irish Heritage and enjoyed listening and dancing to Irish music. She was an original member of the Irish-American Cultural Center in Blauvelt, NY and loved attending socials there. She was also a member of the Tappan Senior Citizen Club and enjoyed vacations and trips with them over the years tremendously. Marion most of all loved her family and her family loved her even more. She was a friend to everyone and will be remembered as kind, generous beautiful woman who truly is an Angel.

Marion was a devoted member of St. Catharine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Blauvelt, NY.

Survivors include her loving husband Donald of 56 years. Her four sons James, Terence and his wife Anne Marie, Brian and William and his wife Christine. She will be remembered with love by her nine grandchildren Mary, Sean, Patrick, William, Ryan, Caroline, Christina, Kimberly and Katherine.

Marion was predeceased by her Mother Mary and Father Thomas and her three brothers Terence, John and Francis McNama.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018, 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, New Jersey, 07647.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine Church, Blauvelt, New York on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10 am with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, New York.

Keith B. Plescia

Keith B. Plescia Sr., 64, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Norwood, NJ, passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home on November 14, 2018.

 

Keith was a loving father to 4 children and a proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren.  Keith is survived by his fiancée Mary Hickman, daughter Kimberly Barrett and her husband Jason, son Keith Plescia Jr. and his wife Eve, son Ryan Plescia, son Kyle Plescia, grandchildren Nathan Barrett, Joshua Barrett, Emily Barrett and Keith Plescia III, brothers Mark Plescia, Craig Plescia, Gary Plescia, Anthony Plescia, Alan Plescia, sister Nanette Plescia, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.  Keith was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Gladys Plescia.

 

Keith was owner and operator of Keith Plescia Roofing and touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.  His spirit and strength will live on with his family forever.

 

Visitation will be on Sunday November 18th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday November 19th 10 AM at St. Anthony’s Church with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Vincent F. Salerno

Vincent F. Salerno, 84, raised in the Bronx and residing in Tappan, NY since 1965, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Louise (nee Bell). Loving father of Vincent E. and wife Jude of Westfield, NJ, Laura Sidor and husband Eugene, Jr. of Upper Saddle River, NJ and William and wife Lori of Cortlandt Manor, NY. Adored grandfather of Eugene III, Kristy, Stephanie, Nicholas, Isabella, Ben, Michelle, William II and Gianna. Loving brother of James (Ernie) and the late Henny and Hugo. Cherished uncle of James, Jennifer, Joanne, Anthony, Christopher, Peter, Carl, Sandra, Paul and Sara. Dear brother-in-law of Joan Ruggiero and Janis Salerno.

Vincent owned Salerno Chrysler Dodge in Yorktown Hts. for 23 years before retiring. Not content to sit still, Vincent continued working as a quality control inspector of aircraft components at Chromalloy in Orangeburg. He was an active member of the Blauvelt Sons of Italy Lodge 2176 and is an alumnus of Manhattan College. Vincent was the consummate gentleman whose kindness, compassion and empathy for others touched the lives of those who had the good fortune to meet him.

A celebration of Vincent’s life will be held at a later date.

Louis P. Descul

Louis P. Descul, 98, of Northvale, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Sylvia (nee Spinelli). Loving father of Michael Descul of Northvale. Dearest brother of James, Angelo and the late Armando, Elizabeth, Theresa and Rosemary. Cherished uncle of many loving nieces and nephews.
Louis was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He worked for the US Postal Service in NYC, and later office-manager for Jersey City-based The Wilson Group for many years.

Edith C. Buccellato (nee Baranello), 92, of Northvale, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Andrew. Mildred J. Vero

Mildred J. Vero (nee Pellicano), 96, of Blauvelt, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Jack for 62 years. Cherished mother of Dr. Fedele Vero and wife Mary Beth of Blauvelt, Anna Vero of Tappan and Tony Vero and wife Bernadette of Palisades. Adored grandmother of Jack, Grace, Laura, Maria and Faith. Mildred was a devoted parishioner of St. Catharine of Alexandria RC Church in Blauvelt. Mildred loved children and was a teacher’s aide for the Orangetown School System for many years.

Nicholas Paul Pappas

Nicholas Paul Pappas, 82, of Old Tappan, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018. Beloved husband of Carmela (nee DiPietro) for 60 years. Cherished father of Mark Pappas of Old Tappan, Nicole Cortright and husband Patrick of Orangeburg, NY and Kristine Karanikitas and husband Lukas of Northvale. Adored grandfather of Nicholas, Courtney, Alexander, Gavin and Lilly Anna. Dearest brother of the late John, Thomas and Eugene.

 

Nick was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Oradell, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the past President of the Republican Club of Old Tappan, a former councilman for the borough of Old Tappan, a Zoning Officer for the borough of Old Tappan and had been a member of the planning board of Old Tappan. In his youth he enjoyed being member of the Road Knights, a New York City Drag Racing Club and was known as the “Hotrod Greek”.

Nick owned many successful companies. The list includes Valley Paving Company, Soilcrete Company, Discount Tires of Paramus, United Sand and Aggregate Company, Automated Metering Company, NP Electric, Empire Stone Products, Video 4, three gas stations on route 17, and N & C Construction. Nick built more than 20 beautiful homes in Old Tappan.

He was known by family and friends as a gentleman who could accomplish anything he would set his mind to and would be there in a moment at any time if you needed help.  Everyone who was a part of his happy and full life remembers his jokes, quick wit and stories of his younger days. He always wanted to make you laugh.

 

A service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050) with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
