Alberto Caballero, 90, of Harrington Park, NJ, formally of Puerto Rico, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 at CareOne The Cupola, Paramus, NJ from complications of Alzheimer’s.  Loving husband of Ellen King.  Devoted father of Mildred Pearson of Amarillo, TX, Ramon Caballero of Brandon, MS and Tomas Caballero of Wenatchee, WA. He is predeceased by his first wife, Ana Caballero, and brother, Tomas Rice.   He is survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Alberto was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1956 he joined Ernst + Young (EY) as a Certified Public Accountant. He joined Laventhol and Horwath CPA’s in 1959, where he was admitted to Partnership before being transferred in 1978 to Los Angeles.  In 1980 he joined Deloitte in New York City as a Partner.  Later in life, he graduated from Fordham University Law School, and passed the New Jersey Bar.

In the past, he served as Director, NY State Society, CPA’s; Treasurer, Hispanic National Bar Association; Treasurer, NY Chapter, Adirondack Mountain Club; Treasurer, Arts & Business Council; Senior Warden, Trinity Episcopal Church, Cliffside Park, NJ.

Margaret J. Brennan (nee Galligan), “Margie”, 87, of Norwood, formerly of Bergenfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Beloved wife of the late James P. Brennan. Cherished mother of James and wife Terri of Narragansett, RI, Patrick and wife Nancy of Las Vegas, NV, George and wife Virginia of Havertown, PA and Maryanne Dillon and her husband Thomas of Ramsey. Proud and devoted grandmother of James, Thomas, Kieran, Aleen, Maggie and Brigit. Dearest daughter of the late Bernard (County Cavan) and Kitty Galligan (County Mayo) and sister of Thomas Galligan and the late Kay Collins and Mary Ruehl.

Margie grew up on 133rd Street in Vinegar Hill, later moving to 175th Street in Washington Heights. She often shared fond memories of growing up with her cousins in New York’s Irish neighborhoods. She graduated from Father Young Academy and worked at Manufacturer’s Trust, where she caught the eye of a young Jimmy Brennan. They married in 1959 and bought their first home in Bergenfield, NJ where they spent the next thirty years raising their family.  Jim and Margie were active parishioners at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Margie was a teacher’s aide at Mt. Carmel School in Tenafly for over 30 years. She also was co-owner of the Bergenfield School of Irish Dancing, where she taught hundreds of children to dance for over 40 years. She later enjoyed teaching adults to dance at Fox Hill in Norwood. Her love of Irish music, dancing, and culture were central in her life, and she took great joy in keeping these traditions alive in the next generation, as well as in her own.

In their later years, Margie and Jim moved to Norwood, NJ and joined St. Anthony’s parish in Northvale, NJ. They enjoyed their time living at Fox Hill Manor, where they kept busy on committees organizing the various holiday parties.

Margie will be dearly missed by her many family members and friends, but her spirit, love and laughter lives on. Slán go fóill!

Robert Bernard Carney, 66, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Dunbarton, NH and Northvale, NJ passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023. Loving husband of Karla Jean (nee Gardner). Devoted father of Charles Victor Carney and the late Christina Leigh Carney. Loving brother of Roger Carney, Maureen Italiano, Mary Moncalieri, Vincent Carney, Janet Meeuwissen and Bernadette Carney. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard Curtis Carney and Annette (nee Mullally) Carney and his brothers, Richard Carney and Joseph Carney. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom were his “favorite”, as well as many lifelong friends.

Rob was an office furniture installer / handyman for many years. He enjoyed walks in the woods and was an avid fisherman.  He will be missed.

Our beloved mother, Mary Bardsley, (93), of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away June 26, 2023, with her family by her side.

She was born in the Bronx, New York on August 25, 1929, the daughter of Irish immigrants John and Kathleen (Moran) O’Shaughnessy.  As a little girl, she grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ. Her mother’s family all lived in a one block radius of each other.  Mary had wonderful memories of those early days spent with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

At an early age, Mary moved with her parents back to New York City so that her father could have a shorter commute. For a short time, the family lived in Washington Heights.  They subsequently moved to an apartment in the Bronx just offFordham Road. Her brother John and sister Clare were bornthere. That apartment would later be iconic for her children from visits with their O’Shaughnessy grandparents on many Sundays and holidays – – experiencing New York City through itswindows and understanding their Irish heritage through its decor.   

Mary graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School, Bronx, NY in 1947 and enrolled in night classes at Hunter College where she received a BA in English Literature in 1953. Also, during this time, Mary was employed at the Borden Company, and later, The Great Lakes Carbon Corporation – – where she quickly rose to be an executive secretary. At Borden, she befriended a group of co-workers who would become lifelong friends. They would call themselves “The Borden Girls”, and they were part of Mary’s social circle and conversations for the next seventy years. 

She met Robert Bardsley, the love of her life, at a St. Nicholas of Tolentine church dance in the Bronx. He lived just up the road in Yonkers and attended the dance with a few friends – – and a date. This prompted Mary’s famous quip that we were to hear many times as my parents recounted their courtship: “Who brings a date to a mixer?!”. Nevertheless, Robert knew immediately that she was the girl for him. Mary was bright, beautiful and level-headed. Soon they were dating which prompted another famous line in our family history when my grandmother said to her daughter – “Bardsley? … that doesn’t sound Irish”. 

They married in October 1953 and lived for short durations in Crestwood, NY and Hayward, CA. In 1963, they returned from California and settled in Harrington Park, NJ, where they livedfor the next 58 years. Along the way Mary gave birth to five children:  Bob, Tom, John, Anne and Kathy. She devoted herself to these children for the rest of her life. This group was later enlarged to include her grandchildren: Stephen, Christine, Patrick, Megan and Katie who were equally cherished.

As Bob succeeded in the business world, he left the domestic domain completely to Mary – – and she excelled at it. For each relocation, she sold houses, sailboats and directed the movers.  Moving to the suburbs, she learned to drive, cook, sew, garden, review homework, and diagnose manyillnesses with the skill of a medical doctor. In short Mary developed the skills needed to support her family on a path to a happy life. Not surprisingly one of her favorite magazines was Good Housekeeping. She decorated the Harrington Park house with a warm decor, cooked great meals and hosted wonderful holiday gatherings where her parents & Bob’s parents and the Lyndhurst relatives were the guests of honor. This tradition continued until her children would eventually assume that role.

In Harrington Park many of Mary’s neighbors came from similar backgrounds. They were young couples that had moved from New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey to raise their families. There was a comradery amongst the families on the block that was beautiful, and Mary was a part of that. She threw great parties that pulled in neighborhood friends along with those from their NYC/Westchester days, Bob’s co-workers from General Foods, and of course the “Borden girls”.  

She was a member of the Harrington Park Women’s Club for almost 60 years, the OLV Rosary Society and Club 60. She held numerous officer positions. Bob would often remark that Mary would have become a successful executive if she had continued in the business world. He wasn’t exaggerating. She was also atenacious bargain hunter. She and her good friend, Winnie, took advantage of the resources at nearby malls in Paramus, Oradell and Hackensack. It would be hard to calculate the number of smiles Mary’s efforts at gift searching brought to her children and grandchildren’s faces on their birthdays or Christmas holidays over the years. 

Through the years Mary and Bob traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.  Her favorite locations were Paris, Nice, Florence, Vienna and the small towns of Ireland where her parents grew up. Despite all this travel, Mary maintained she was still just “a New York City girl”.

In their retirement years Bob and Mary spent time at the family “Farm” in the Catskills during the summers and their Fort Myers, Florida condominium during the winter. Both locales benefited from Mary’s decorating touch and were warm and friendly. Mary kept in touch with all her children and grandchildren and someone was always visiting them at these locales. Time with her grandchildren was treasured whether they were out at Fort Myers beach or swimming in the Beaverkill River in the Catskills. She was teaching them to love life. 

All in all, one could not be around Mary Bardsley without knowing that she cared. It would be hard to overstate how much her caring affected the broader family. Her energy and caring made her the glue for the family and put her at the center of supporting many during hard times. She was a wonderful friend, wife, mother and grandmother. The family will miss her terribly.  

Mary was preceded in death by Robert, her loving husband and lifetime partner, in 2020.  Also, her parents, John and Kathleen O’Shaughnessy, her brother John O’Shaughnessy, her sister Clare Burke, her brother-in-law Richard Bardsley and his wife Joy, and just recently by cousins Helen Kearney and Joan Becker.

Mary is survived by her children Robert Bardsley Jr. of Delray Beach, FL., Thomas Bardsley (Donna Ng) of Hawthorne, NY, John Bardsley (Jim Brubaker) of Brooklyn, NY, Anne Bardsley (Robin Rizzo) of Boynton Beach, FL, Kathleen Roughan (Paul) of Delray Beach, FL, and grandchildren Stephen Pompeo(Victoria), Christine Roughan, Patrick Roughan, Megan Roughan (Lake) and Katie Ross. She is also survived by hersister-in-law Phyllis O’Shaughnessy and many nephews and nieces including John O’Shaughnessy, Siobhan O’Shaughnessy, Gael O’Shaughnessy, Mavis O’Neill, John Bardsley, Judy Goings, Janice Cummings, Deb Bardsley, Eileen Burke, Jean-Marie Burke and Martin Burke.

A viewing ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023from 4PM to 8PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale, NJ. A Mass of the Resurrection will take place at Our Lady of Victories Church in Harrington Park, NJ on Friday, July 7, 2023at 10AM. Mary will be buried alongside her husband at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY. The burial will take place shortly after the church service.

Waldine N. Bodrato (nee Foppiano), 95, of Northvale, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 22, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Arthur A. Bodrato for 66 years. Cherished mother of Briant and his wife Kathleen of Northvale. Adored grandmother of Christopher Bodrato, Ashley Bodrato Panella and her husband Michael. Grandma to her fur babies Pierce, Jax and Dutch who she loved spending her days with. 

Waldine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. 

Waldine was secretary for the Northvale Planning Board. She served as the Treasurer for many years on the Northvale Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as the Treasurer and President of the Democratic Club. Waldine was a lifetime parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and talk to her friends and family on the phone every day. She will be forever remembered for her historical knowledge of Northvale being a resident for 95 years, her kind heart, amazing Italian dishes and her true genuine spirit. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.

Gladys Mary Carullo (nee DeLaurentis), 84 of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Beloved wife of 62 years to Frank J. Carullo. Loving mother of Frank T. Carullo and Laura Butterworth and her husband James. Proud grandmother of Gabrielle, Alec, Allison, Nicole and Madeline.

Peter B. Moulin-Malish, 38, of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023. Survived by his wife, Alexandra (nee Rodriguez), cherished son of Catherine Malish and Jon and his wife Bonnie Moulin. Loving son-in law of Ali and John Betts, cherished brother-in law of Ashley and her husband Brian Larkin, Danielle Betts, Johnny Betts and his nephew Will and niece Maude. Adored grandson of Grandpa Eugene Malish, and Grandma Mirtha and Grandpa Felix Lopez. Also survived by many loving Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. Pre-decreased by his wonderful Uncles Johnny and Jim, and his beautiful Grandmothers Dorine and Betty, and Grandpa Nevin. Pete will be forever missed by his beloved dachshund Emmylou Harris.

Pete was a loving and gentle man, who loved hanging out with friends, riding his ATV and motorcycles, collecting swords and knives, and had a nostalgic love for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He will be remembered for his soft smile, endless patience, and boundless help to all who encountered him. For all those who knew and had the opportunity of him to touch their lives, Pete will be missed dearly.

Throughout his years working at DeLalla Carting, his exceptional work ethic, meticulous precision, and skillfulness to his work, was awe inspiring, and one of his most incredible qualities.

Holly Jane Ciccoricco (nee Nickles), 85, a resident of Harrington Park, NJ for 50 years passed away
peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 8th, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Edward
Ciccoricco for nearly 60 years.
Holly will be remembered as an honored teacher and artist, loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a leading advocate for arts in the community. Holly’s contributions in
education have been truly outstanding. Her artistic talents were multifaceted: watercolors,
quilting, ceramics, and crafts.
An award-winning artist herself, Holly taught visual arts to thousands of children and adults
and inspired some students to become art or special education teachers or to enter art related fields of work. In 2015 she was honored by the mayor and council of Harrington Park, NJ as
“Citizen of the Year” for her work with arts in the community. Also, in 2015 she was the first
honoree of the parent teacher organization of the Valley Regional Programs. Holly was
inducted into the Abington Senior High School (Pennsylvania) Hall of Fame in recognition of
her achievements as an art educator.
Holly taught art to special needs children for 20 years at the Art School at Old Church, a nonsectarian, non-profit organization in Demarest, NJ. She also taught other classes at the Art
School and a monthly crafts workshop for children at the Harrington Park Public Library. She was an award-winning watercolor artist, miniature house builder and quilter. Examples of her quilting are illustrated in the book, “Quilting for Idiots,” by Laura Ehrlich, 2004. Her “General Store Dollhouse” was awarded first prize by Miniature Collectors Magazine.
Holly was a founder of Park Painters, a group of artists who meet for plein air painting, and
also a founder the Park Stitchers, a group who meet weekly to sew, knit, embroider, and quilt.
She was on the Advisory Board of the Arts Council of Harrington Park. She was the Alpine
Public Schools “Teacher of the Year” in 1992. She also taught enrichment classes in a number
of Northern Valley Schools and volunteered art lessons at the Valley Program for children with
special needs. She served as art coordinator for the Northern Valley Summer Camp in
Harrington Park for 40 years.
Holly earned a Master of Arts in art education degree from Teachers College, Columbia
University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia.
Family includes three sons, Michael, David (and his wife Beryl and four-year-old Roa),
Steven (and wife Natalie, five-year-old Lou and predeceased two-month-old Holden), Holly’s
brother,Theodore Nickles and wife, Marjorie, and Holly’s sister, Deborah Nickles, as well as
many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Anna Hackett (nee Erben), 91, of Harrington Park, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Beloved wife of 69 years to Thomas Hackett. Dearest sister of Carl Erben and his wife Barbara and sister-in-law of Mary Villa. Cherished aunt of Beth Erben, Dan Erben and wife Patricia, Debora Burke and husband Gregg, Edward Villa, Jackie Villa and Joanne Shuart. Also survived by many loving great-nieces and great-nephews.

Anna worked for NY Life Insurance Company in NYC starting in the filing room and working her way up being a senior manager in the treasury department. She retired from NYL after more than 45 years of service. She loved Harrington Park and was an active member of Club 60 and the Garden Club. She had been treasurer of the Pascack Valley Thrift Shop and was on the Historical Society in Harrington Park and Nyack, NY. Anna was devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Victories Church and was on the committee for social concerns for many years.

Dr. Robert Cohen, 83, of Englewood, NJ, passed away on Sunday June 11th, 2023.He was the beloved husband of Barbara Weiss Cohen.   Loving father of Stephanie Cohen Walsh and Karen Cohen.  Proud grandfather of Sydney, Chloe, Max and Ariel.

Dr. Cohen was a Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hackensack University Medical Center for over 40 years, beloved by his patients and highly respected by his peers.   In his distinguished career, he delivered over 4000 babies in Bergen County, NJ.
