Daniel J. Cooke, 83, of Northvale, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Beloved husband of Leslie. Devoted father of Daniel Jr. and wife Susan of Blauvelt, NY, Brian and wife Maryrose of Howell, NJ, Michael and wife Kimberly of Wallace, NC, Donna Gullestad and husband Andrew of Northvale and James of Northvale. Adored grandfather of Anthony, Thomas, Katie, Shannon, Lauren, Sean, Brian, Erik and Emily. Dear brother of Charles, Edward, Richard, Robert, Wayne, Gary and the late Michael, Katherine and Thomas.

Dan served in the US Army during the Korean War.

A Northvale resident for over 60 years, Dan joined the Recreation committee, coached Northvale Minute Men football, served five terms on the Northvale council and held positions of Fire Commissioner, Recreation Commissioner and Flood Commissioner. As a member of St. Anthony’s parish, Dan volunteered to work bingo, managed inventory at the carnivals and sang in the choir. An avid fisherman, Dan enjoyed his retirement camping with close friends and family. The fish enjoyed his retirement too because of his catch-and-release policy.

Patricia Dinnell (nee Conway), 75, of Harrington Park, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Born August 17, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY.

Beloved wife of Ralph for 53 years. Devoted mother of Andrew and his wife Kathleen, Karen and her husband Steve LoPresti and Scott and his wife Kristen. Adored grandmother of Matthew, Kate, Sam, Jack, Jonathan, Patrick, Timothy, Riley, Sarah, Brian, Sophia and Daniel. Dear sister of Mary Elizabeth Conway O’Connor and Kathleen Conway Gervais. Patricia graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn and taught in parochial schools in Brooklyn, Harrington Park and Norwood. She was active in her church community as a Eucharistic minister.

An owner of several dogs, Pat loved all animals – except the deer that ate the tomatoes in her garden for fifty years.

As a grandmother, she took on the roles of doctor, chauffer, chef, mechanic, maid, tutor and role model. Each of her twelve grandchildren loved her so dearly and will continue her legacy of thoughtfulness and compassion.

Leonard J. Florio, 62, of Pearl River, NY, formerly of Tamarac, FL and the Bronx, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. Cherished son of the late Joseph and Marie Florio. William G. “Woody” Crowl, 75, of Northvale, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Beloved husband of Carole (nee Koster). Devoted father of Wendy Ewing and husband John of Elgin, IL and Teri DiStefano and husband Rocco of Paramus. Adored grandfather of Sofia, Lea, Luca, Nicholas, Alexander and Zachary. Dearest brother Thomas of Florida and the late Robert. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lois of Maywood.

Woody was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a past commander of the Norwood American Legion Post 272. He was a skilled carpenter for many years before retirement.

Marie J. McMahon, 87, of Northvale, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018. She was born in New York City and was predeceased by her parents Rebecca and Joseph McMahon and a brother Joseph J. McMahon. She was a devoted cousin to Maureen and Frank D’Ercole and their children, Colleen, Brian and Kristen and the D’Ercole grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin, Ryan, Frankie, Victoria and Connor. She was also devoted to the Morelli and Rosato family, their children and grandchildren.

Marie moved to Northvale in 1973 and was active in many community programs. She was employed as a supervisor at International Flavors and Fragrances in New York City until she retired in 1994. Marie was known to her family as Sis. Her family never had to worry about security at their homes because Sis was always on patrol checking everyone’s house.

Casper T. “Bud” Will, of Tappan, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018. Born October 11th 1929 in Yonkers, NY. Retired executive of CIGNA Special Risk Facilities Inc. Attended St. Denis parochial school, Manhattan Prep, and New York University.He was predeceased by his wife, Helen (née Manix). He is survived by four daughters, Mary Jane Fick (Bob), Joanne Ciriello (Peter), Patricia Boyer (Steve), and Denise Pawlowski (Alex). He is succeeded by his eight grandchildren, Colleen, Kaitlin, Thomas, Kerri Anne, Matthew, Meghan, Jack and Daniel. Bud was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Theodore Michael Saydah “Ted,” 93, of Closter, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018. Beloved husband of Joyce (née Ontra). Devoted family man and cherished father of Gerard and wife Judy of Middletown, JoAnne Therese of Norwood, Jenifer Saydah and fiancé Kevin McGovern of Norwood, and Jill Marie Ross and husband George of Northvale. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Closter, was a lector, and along with his wife Joyce, taught CCD for many years. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Mets, NY Giants, and NJ Devils.
