Joseph John Patten

   Joseph John Patten, 85, of Tappan, passed away at home on Sunday, April 22, 2012.  Beloved husband of Emily T. (nee Maio).  Loving father of Joseph W. Patten of Wallkill and Bernadette Gaglione and her husband Joseph of Orangeburg.  Cherished grandfather of Joseph and Michael.  Dearest brother of Edward Patten of Elmira and the late John and Mary.

   Mr. Patten was a proud Navy veteran of WWII.  After retiring from the meat packing union, he worked six years for the Clarkstown Central School District. 

   A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan with interment to follow at Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead.  Visiting hours are Thursday 6-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.

James P. Sotiropoulos

   James P. Sotiropoulos, 87, a longtime Northvale resident, died on Thursday, April 19, 2012.  Beloved husband of Georgia (nee Andreopoulos)  and  devoted father of Peter of Northvale and Theodora Sotiropoulos  of Mahwah.  He was District Sales Manager for GATX  in New York City.  He was a longtime parish member and former council treasurer of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in  Nyack,NY.

A  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday 10 AM at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, One Marycrest  Road, West Nyack, NY.  Visiting hours are Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Anthony R. Charlotte Messina

   Charlotte Messina(nee Morton), 64, a longtime resident of Northvale, on Monday, April 9, 2012. Beloved wife of Umberto “Paul”. Devoted mother of James of Northvale and Charlotte Reeves and her husband William of Carlstadt. Loving daughter of Fay Morton and the late Charles Vernon Morton of Medway, MA. Cherished grandmother of Rachel and Amanda of Carlstadt. Dear sister of Sandra Morton Bennett and her husband Ben, nieces, Tracey Stewart and Pamela Bennett, and grand-niece Brenna Stewart, all of Medway, MA. Mrs. Messina had been an accounting manager for W.H. Industries in Northvale for 33 years, and will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (today) at 4:00 PM at the Anthony R. Lucille Vitale

   Lucille Vitale(nee Castellano), 86, a longtime Norwood resident, formerly of Brooklyn, died Friday, April 7, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late James V.  Devoted father of Rose, Joseph and his wife, Amelia, and Theresa  and her husband, Fred.  Dearest grandmother of six and great-grandmother of five.  Mrs. Vitale was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Norwood, and a past president of the Norwood Seniors.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood, with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY.  Visiting hours are Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R.  Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwood Ambulance Corps, 496 Broadway, P.O. Mary A. Lent

   Mary A. Lent, 84, of Stony Point, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late William Lent, Sr.  Devoted mother of Kathleen Weinrich and her husband Karl of FL, Michael and his wife Robin of FL, Brian and his wife Debra of Northvale, Kevin of Northvale and the late William.  Dear mother-in-law of Susan Lent.  Cherished grandmother of Melissa, Kristofor, Jason, Kirsten, Steven, Danielle, Jennifer, Erica, Kimberly, Robert, Samantha, Andrew and Austin.  Loving sister of two brothers, Bashio and Ascenzio Jr. “Spike” and predeceased by four sisters, Catherine, Pasquelina, Lena and Rosie.

   Mary was an active parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo RC Church having been involved in the Marriage Encounter and the Bereavement Group.  She also volunteered her time at the Marian Shrine in West Haverstraw.  For many years she organized the election polls in Stony Point.

   Mary was well known as the North Rockland Cake Lady, baking cakes for all occasions.

Joseph J. Roberto

   Joseph J. Roberto, 89, of Norwood, on Thursday, March 29, 2012.  Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Lang).  Adored great-uncle of Lillian Jeffery and Ben Amos, to whom Joe was like a father.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-neices, great-nephews and their families.  Predeceased by his first wife, Bertha, one brother and six sisters.

   Joseph was an Army Veteran of World War II.  Before retiring he was a truck driver.  He loved spending time in his garage fixing things, enjoyed raising his pet boxers and particularly loved Italian food. 

   A funeral service will be held Saturday 9:30 AM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.  Visiting hours are Friday 3-6 PM.

John James Cirillo, D.D.S.

   John James Cirillo, DDS, 86, of Harrington Park, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012.  Beloved husband of 51 years to Christina (nee Preuss).  Loving father of John J. Cirillo, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Monroe, NY, Peter Cirillo of West Dennis, MA and Christine David and her husband Andrew of North Attleboro, MA.  Cherished grandfather of John, James, Victoria, Joseph, James and Jessica.  Dearest brother of the late Marie Palladino.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

   Before retiring, Dr. Cirillo had a dental practice in Harrington Park for 48 years.  He was a graduate of Fordham University and the University of Maryland Dental School.  He was an Army Veteran of World War II.  Dr. Cirillo was past President of the Harrington Park Board of Health, a member of the NJ and Bergen County Dental Societies as well as The Hobbyist in Ridgewood.  He also enjoyed golf, skiing and tennis.  John will be greatly missed by family and friends and all those whose lives he has touched over the years.

Joseph M. Annese

   Joseph M. Annese, 70, of Pearl River, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 12, 2012.  Devoted companion of Betty Lee Clements of Piermont.  Loving brother of Madge Carogana of Hackensack, Ted Annese and his wife Joan of Florida and sister-in-law Marie Annese.  Predeceased by his brother Gerard Annese and brother-in-law Anthony Carogana.

   Joe was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was an avid golfer, a faithful parishioner of St. John’s RC Church in Piermont and will be dearly missed by all his dear family and friends.

Miriam V. Blades

   Miriam, V. Blades (nee Gilchrist), 94, of Bergenfield, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012.   Beloved wife of the late Brandon.  Devoted mother of Susan Blankenberg and her husband Gary of Bayville, NY and Brandon Blades of Haworth.  Predeceased by her daughter Bonnie and daughter-in-law Elizabeth.   Adored grandmother of Bryan, Cara, Jennifer and Victoria and great-grandmother of Sophie, Anthony and Andrew.  Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

   Mrs. Blades was a member of the Bonsai Club in Closter and belonged to the League of Women Voters.

Vincent J. Cambareri

   Vincent J. Cambareri, 81, of Norwood, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012.  Born March 27, 1930 in North Bergen.  Raised and schooled in Cliffside Park graduating CPHS 1948.  In 1948 began dating the love of his life, Josephine.  Year 1951 was both engagement and draft into the U.S. Army.  Served in Korean War with distinction, awarded Army Commendation Ribbon with metal pendant for meritorious service.  Discharged May 1953.  Married Josephine December 6, 1953.  Resided in Fairview, Cliffside Park and moved to Northvale in 1965.  Vincent became plant manager for Bell and Howell Printing Division in Lodi, NJ.  When Bell and Howell sold off printing divisions, Vincent and partner Frank Piccolo bought and ran Capco Business Systems for ten years.  His last seven years before retirement were spent working for Simkins Industries.  Following his retirement, Vincent became an active member and leader in his community.  He was president of the Northvale Golden Agers, Senior Vice-Commander of the Northvale VFW Memorial Post 162, a valued employee of the Pizzi Funeral Home and an active parishioner of St. Anthony’s, being an usher for many years.

   He was the beloved husband of 52 years to the late Josephine.  Cherished father of Laureen Lombardo and her husband Sal of Park Ridge, Lynn Butler of Norwood and Lisa Peters and her husband Chris of Ridgewood.  Adored and proud grandfather of Marissa, Austin, Craig, Logan, Matthew, Juliet and Renee.  Dearest brother of Mel and his wife Pat of NC and the late Rosemary.

   A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale.  Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale.
