Elizabeth Vacca

   Elizabeth Vacca(nee Pirraglia), 69, of Northvale, formerly of Closter, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Frank.  Devoted mother of Christopher of Northvale and Frank and his wife Jacqueline of Montvale.  Adored grandmother of Isabella and Dominique.  Loving sister of Pat Pirraglia and his wife Barbara and Anthony Pirraglia and his wife Karen.  Dear sister-in-law of Theresa and Steve Saporito and Ann Vacca.  Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

   Elizabeth retired from Volvo in Rockleigh and was currently working at BSI in Norwood.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s RC Church in Closter.

Donald G. DaCosta

   Donald G. DaCosta, 83, of Dushore, PA, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at home with his beloved wife of 64 years, Dorothy (nee Ference) at his side.  Devoted father of  Donald of Westwood, Stephen of Toms River, and Michael and his wife Anne of Northvale.  Dearest grandfather of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Loving brother of his twin sister, Dalores Bongiovanni of SC, twin brothers, Headly and Edward of Bergenfield, and sister, Bernice Miles of Santee, CA.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

   Don was a carpenter in the Bergenfield area and later worked for Norel Plastics in Hackensack until he retired in 1986.  He was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s R.C, Church where he was a Bingo caller for many years, and was also active as a Boy Scout Leader.  Donald was blessed with an amazing voice and sang for Ann Moyer’s group, “One More Time”, for Christmas pageants in Towanda, and the Dushore Music Club.  He also sang “The National Anthem” at various local Democratic Party functions. 

   A funeral service will be held at 8 PM on Saturday, September 29, at the Anthony R.    Lucia Nuovo (nee Micciantuono), 82, of Northvale, passed away at home, on Monday, September 17, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Antonio.  Cherished mother of Jerry Nuovo, Rosanna Barreto, Linda Nuovo, and Angela Nuovo, all of Northvale.  Adored grandmother of Jonathan and Tiffany.

   Frank W. Greco, Jr., 70 of Orangeburg, NY, formerly of Northvale, NJ, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012.  Survived by Jeanne Greco of Northvale.  Cherished father of Kevin and his wife Dana of Northvale, and Darren and his wife Danielle of Norwood.  Adored grandfather of Garrett and Julia. Loving brother of James of Palisades, N.Y. and Richard of Piermont N.Y.
   Before retiring, Mr. Greco worked in the Western Hat Industry including Stetson,  Resistol, and Hatco in Newark, NJ and Longview, TX.

Martha Battaglia

   Martha Battaglia, 89, of Norwood, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012.  Loving aunt of Frank Battaglia of Montvale and Christopher Battaglia of Portland, OR.  Dear sister-in-law of Beverly Gangeri of Montvale.  Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary, her brother Frank, and her sister Louise.

    Before retiring, Martha was an executive assistant at the Federal Reserve in NYC.  She was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, and a member of the Norwood Senior Center.

Frances D. Nesnadny

   Frances D. Nesnadny (nee Drazka), 76, of Norwood, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Ronald S. Nesnadny, Sr.  Predeceased in death by her children, Karen A. McQuade and Ronald S. Nesnadny, Jr.  Cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Nicole, Robert III, Christina, Danielle, Stephen, and Michael.  Loving sister of John J. Drazka and his wife Carole.  Dear mother-in-law of Laurie Nesnadny and Robert McQuade, Jr.

   Fran was a longtime member of the Norwood Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, and was a lunch aide in the Norwood Public School for the past 17 years.

Genevieve Luggiero

   Genevieve Luggiero (nee Granata), passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL.  She was a resident and member of Glen Eagle Golf and Country Club, Naples, since 1991. Beloved wife of Raymond for 63 years.  Devoted mother of Richard and Rosa of New Foundland, NJ, and Mary Ellen Kucharik and  Peter of Glen Rock, NJ.  Cherished grandmother of Raymond and Dana, Richard and Shane, Jason and Jennifer, and Michael.  Loving great-grandmother of Joseph, John, Alex, Myla, and Ethan.  Dear sister of Nancy Scalia and predeceased by three brothers and one sister.        Genevieve was loved by many relatives and friends.  She was born in Lodi, NJ, attended Lodi H.S., and owned and operated a successful hair salon in North Jersey before retiring and moving to Florida.  She loved to golf, cook, play cards, and travel with her adoring husband, Raymond.  Genevieve was happiest when she was surrounded by and caring for her family.  She enjoyed entertaining, and was an expert at making people feel welcome.  Visiting hours are from 3-6 PM on Tuesday , September 4, at the Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Boulevard, Naples  (239-775-4255).  A funeral service will take place at 5:30PM.  In lieu of flowers , please donate to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whipporwill Lane, Naples, Fl  34105 in Genevieve’s memory. “Genevieve was my strength and made me feel ten feet tall when I stood beside her”  Ray Luggiero.

Jessie Wagner

   Jessie Wagner, 93, formerly of the Bronx, Thurs, Aug 23.  Beloved mother of the late Michael Nieman.  Loving aunt of Robert and Joanne Wagner, Lois and Derek Connolly, Thomas and Terry Wagner, Lloyd and Fern Wagner, and Lisa Wagner.  Also survived by many dear great-nieces and great-nephews.

Anthony E. Orecchio

   Anthony E. Orecchio, 82, a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012.  Beloved husband of Marianne (nee Pigoncelli).  Loving father of Mark and his wife Barbara of Emerson, Suzanne Ohliger and her husband Richard of Philadelphia, PA, and Thomas and his wife Allison of Old Tappan.  Adored grandfather of Kristen and her husband Matt, Joseph, Jacob, Vincent, Matthew, Nicholas (Niko), and Alexander (Alex).  Also survived by three sisters and other loving relatives.

   Mr. Orecchio was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Before retiring, he worked locally many years in the HVAC industry.   He was past commander of American Legion Post 272, a volunteer on the Norwood Emergency Medical Services, a member of the Optimist Club, and a Boyscout Leader for Troop 272, all in Norwood.

Fu-Yen Chen

   Fu-Yen Chen, 71, of Harrington Park, NJ passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012.  Beloved husband of Theresa Yu-Ping Chen.  Loving father of Morgan Chen and his wife Katherine of Highland Park, NJ and Lynn Chen and her husband Abe Forman-Greenwald of Los Angeles, CA.  Adored grandfather of Tiberio, Isaac, Mella, and Hunter.  Dear brother of six siblings.

 

   Mr. Chen worked as an IT Professional before retiring.  He was also the Founding President of the Kunqu Society (1988-1996), ethnomusicologist (Wesleyan University, Ph.D., 1976), and a Woodrow Wilson National Fellow (1971-1972).  Mr. Chen was the architect and leader in establishing the Society as a leading Chinese Opera cultural-arts organization.
