Ralph A. Giarnella

Ralph A. Giarnella, 79, of Suffern, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.  Beloved husband of Kathleen (nee LoScalzo).  Cherished father of Donna Orecchio of Nanuet, Kathy Pioli and her husband Randy of New City and the late Joseph Giarnella.  Loving son of Theresa and the late Joseph Giarnella.  Adored grandfather of Jennifer, Lea, Adam, Michael, Carly, Talia and Victoria.  Dear brother of Ronnie and his late wife Vivian of the Bronx.  He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Ralph was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with family and his many friends.  A self-made man, he formed J. Giarnella and Son Construction Company in the Bronx with his father. Over the next 60 years he grew the company, was well-respected in the industry and continued to consult with his son, Joseph, who took over the family business. Ralph was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, Nanuet with entombment to follow at St. Anthony’s Mausoleum. Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ (201-767-3050).

Evelyn J. Weston

Evelyn J. Weston (nee Hafemann), 84, of Blandon, PA, formerly of Lyndhurst, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014.  Beloved wife of the late Arthur.  Loving mother of Ronald and his wife Frances of Northvale and Jane Paganelli and her husband Robert of Blandon, PA.  Adored grandmother of Ronald J., Samantha, Rachel, Robert, Zachary and Thomas.  Dear sister of Alvin Hafemann, Jr. and his wife Doris of Clifton and the late Anita McNabb.  Also survived by brother-in-law John McNabb and many loving nieces and nephews.

Richard Williamson

Richard Williamson, 77, of Norwood, formerly of West New York, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014.  Beloved husband of Sarah (nee Murray).  Devoted father of Laura Williamson of Northvale and cherished grandfather of Jason, Kaela and Kiera.  Dear brother of Carol Hufford.

Richard was a loving family man who enjoyed traveling with his wife Sarah, playing golf and spending time with family and the many special friends he grew up with and those he met through the years, whom he dearly loved. 

Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale with a Funeral Service to be held at 7:00 PM.

Charles “Bill” DaSaro

Charles “Bill” DaSaro, 84, of Old Tappan, formerly of Harrington Park, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, June 14, 2014.  Beloved husband of Marie (nee Masucci) for 60 years. Devoted father of Deborah Princiotto and her husband Sal of Woodcliff Lake, Pamela Henrici and her husband Allen of Old Tappan, Lori Powers and her husband Don of Old Tappan and Melissa Shanley and her husband Tom of Old Tappan.  Adored grandfather of Rachele, Kristin, Charles, James, Jason and his wife Danelle, Lauren, Amanda and her husband Matthew, Sarah, Adam, Jack, Brian, Nicole and Brooke.  Cherished great-grandfather of Matthew Charles and Zoey.  Dearest brother of Lucille DaSaro of Staten Island and the late Mike, John, Anna, Louis and Ponzi.  He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Charles was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.  Before retiring he was a supervisor for Circle Industries, a construction company in NYC, for over 35 years.  He was an avid golfer who belonged to the Old Tappan Golf Club. Charles also belonged to Club 60 of Harrington Park and the Senior Social Society of Old Tappan.  Besides the love of his family, he enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams, the NY Yankees and NY Giants.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victories, Harrington Park with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories, Washington, Twp.  Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Werner J. Meier

Werner J. Meier,  94,  of Norwood,  NJ, formerly Old Tappan, died peacefully on June 12, 2014. Born in Germany, as the eldest of 3 sons, to the late Ernst and Tiene Meier, he came to this country at age 9 settling in New York City and became an American citizen. He served our country during World War II, with the 101st Airborne Division, dropping behind enemy lines at Normandy Beach on D-Day. He served 5 years with the US Army attaining the title of Captain. He returned home after being wounded at Bastogne, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Shortly thereafter he met his loving and devoted wife, Helen, and was happily married for over 68 years. His career was in the printing business, retiring at the age of 70. He was a member of the VFW, the Screaming Eagle 101st Airborne Association, and member of Trinity Reformed Church. He leaves behind his very devoted wife, Helen (nee Zaruba), son Richard and wife Susan, daughter Christine Cauvet and late husband Brook, and daughter Nancy Russo and son-in-law Joseph. Werner was predeceased by his younger brothers Heinz and Rolf. Cherished grandfather of Gary and wife Melissa, Jeanine and husband Christopher, Eric and wife Michelle, Danielle, Jessica and husband Michael, Emily and Amy. Loving great-grandfather (Opa) to Alex, Bryan, Caroline, Kaitlyn, Christian, Addison, Carleigh, Mason and Dylan. Adoring uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

 

Family to receive friends at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ, on Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 1:00-5:00PM; ending with a memorial service at 4:30PM. Cremation and burial will be private at the Old Tappan Cemetery on a later date.

Mary P. Marchiano

Mary P. Marchiano(nee Manz), 88, of Norwood, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.  Beloved wife of Mario “Skippy” Marchiano.  She is also survived by countless loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Mary was a dedicated parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Norwood.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

Catherine Lissi, 100, of born and raised in Northvale, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.  Catherine is survived by her brother, Louis, sister, Mary Marcason, niece, Donna and nephew, Louis, all of Northvale.  She is predeceased by brothers Alfred and Bruno.

Ida Lent

Ida Lent(nee Dichtl), 89, of Northvale, formerly of White Plains, NY, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014.  Beloved wife of the late William M. Lent.  Loving mother of Werner Dichtl of Hettenshausen, Germany, William M. Lent of Minneapolis, MN and Ida June Hogan and her husband John of Northvale.  Cherished grandmother of Brandon Lent, Ryan Hogan and Ava-Rose Hogan.

Ida was a nutrition site manager for the White Plains Senior Center for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 84.  In Northvale, she was a member of the James F. McGuire Senior Center.

Stella A. Manzi

Stella A. Manzi (nee Stisi), 88, of Old Tappan, formerly of Ridgefield, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony Manzi and her loving son Dr. Robert Manzi.  Stella is survived by her daughter Diane Gawlik and her husband Thomas of Closter and her daughter-in-law Shelley Manzi of River Edge.  Adored grandmother of Robert, Justin, Anthony, Kelly, Kristen and Keri and great-grandmother of Kali.

In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Stella worked for APA Trucking in North Bergen and for her son, Dr. Robert Manzi, as an office worker.
