Joan M. Ascolese (nee Ahrens), 85, of Norwood, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Loving mother of Janet Daly and Gregory Ascolese and his wife Yoshiko. Caring grandmother of Kevin, Kara (Christopher), Miyako and Louis. Proud great-grandmother of Layla and Christopher Joseph. Joan is also survived my many loving friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Ethel Ahrens, and her siblings Warren and Lois.
Joan had been a resident of Norwood since 1959. She was married to Joseph for 63 years and loved traveling with him, especially up to Maine. Joan was a lunch aide at Norwood Public School for many years. In her free time, she loved music, dancing and cooking. She was always upbeat and outgoing, and was a friend to all. She will be deeply missed.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 4-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Washington Township, NJ.
