Zonnia Serrano-Gonzalez Ingraham, 80, went to eternal rest on Friday, July 17, 2015. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico she attend The Academia del Sagrado Corazón and went on to study at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Pierdras.
She moved to the States and several years later embarked on a teaching career in Paterson, NJ where she worked in various capacities in the Bilingual and Basic Skills Programs. She enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching. She had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed her many camping trips to Maine, as well as spending time in her garden, but above all her favorite pastime was talking about her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Enrique Serrano and Carmen Gonzalez as well as her brother Francisco “Paco” Serrano-Gonzalez all of Puerto Rico, and her beloved chocolate lab Jack.
She is survived by her children, David and his wife Ellen, Paola Yammarino and her husband Joseph, Robert and his wife Susan, and her beloved and cherished grandchildren – Maureen and Andrew Ingraham, J.B., Jared and Jonathan Yammarino.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, Closter. Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations being sent to Valley Regional Programs PTOP&V (valleyregionalprogramspto.org/donate.html) or a charity of your choosing.
