Peter F. Tantillo, 89, of Tappan, NY, passed away at home, on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Filomena. Loving father of Frank of Austin, TX, Phyllis of Jupiter, FL and JoAnn Jaworski and her husband Tom of River Vale. Cherished grandfather of Melissa, Amanda, Nicole and Christina and great-grandfather of Alexa, Vinny and Gino. Dear brother of the late Vincent and Dominick.
Mr. Tantillo was US Army veteran of WWII. Serving in the Pacific, he was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division and received the Bronze Star. Peter was an electrician with Local 3 in New York City and remained active with the group after retiring. He was a member of the American Legion John Secor Post 329 in Pearl River, the Orangetown Senior Center and was head usher at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church in Tappan for 25 years.
Peter especially enjoyed studying opera and travelling the world with his wife Filomena.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan with interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (www.pizzifuneralhome.com).
