I marched with John in the Long Island Sunrisers Senior Drum & Bugle corps in the 70’s and 80’s. When we saw each other he would say “Still Joe!” simply meaning my name was still Joe. I would call him Still John. He had an awesome sense of humor and life energy in those days. We recently reconnected on Facebook after many years. He shared about a book he wrote and was promoting. He was at my house after winning the Drum Corps Associates National Championship in Allentown, PA with many other friends and marching members.
He will be missed by many! RIP John.
What an absolutely heartfelt comfort to our family. I don’t know if Johnny knew the level of love for his being, his humor, his love and his passion for music. Should you play any Beatles album, Moody Blues or James Taylor’s Mud Slide Slim, he is listening. .
