Frances Sirignano

Frances Sirignano (nee Orzech), 76, of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Frances was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Miller) Orzech. Frances was the beloved wife of Louis for 53 years. Loving mother of Joseph and his wife Jennifer of Wescosville, PA, Beth Salai and her husband John of Milford, CT, and Laura Wittreich and her husband Stephen of River Edge, NJ. Adored grandmother of Catherine, Matthew, Michael, Olivia, Isabella, Madeline, Ava, Gavin, and Ella. Dear sister of Joseph Orzech and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frances was born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 9, 1946 and later moved to Emerson, NJ, where she completed elementary school at Assumption in Emerson and attended Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi. She then went on to receive her BA in Economics at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in NY and became a supervisor at American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in Mount Kisco, NY. Frances later married Louis, raised her family, and served her community in many ways: as Board of Education President for 12 years, as a Den Mother and Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts, as a CCD teacher at St. Anthony’s Church, as a member of the PTSA in Northvale and Old Tappan, and always an active supporter of the Northvale Public Library. Eventually Frances decided to pursue her teaching certification at St. Thomas Aquinas.  She chose to become a building substitute at Old Tappan Middle School so she still had flexibility for her own children.  Without question, her proudest accomplishments were her three children and later her nine grandchildren.  She made it known to all that they were her entire life and strongly believed that her life would go on through them.  Frances was a wonderful wife, mom and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 4-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale. A Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Northvale will be celebrated Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 10 AM with interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Frances be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at giving.mskcc.org, where she received outstanding care.

Fran was wonderful person, with a positive attitude. So sorry to hear she passed away. She was a great mother and wife. She gave life to three beautiful children, and taught them love and respect and independence. She was always kind and loving. May she Rest In Peace.

Our Old Tappan Staff knew Fran as THE most requested substitute teacher because of her expert classroom management skills and her genuine love for children, I was honored to have been her cooperating teacher when Fran was assigned to conduct her student teaching in my classroom. Upon my retirement, she was the only staff who called to wish me well in my new life, sending me a prayer card with Our Lady of Chestochowa, as we had always shared our proud Polish ancestry together.

Fran was not just a substitute teacher. Fran was truly one of us. May God look with love and favor upon Lou, the children and the grandchildren and may eternal rest be granted to her. May she rest in blessed peace. Lovingly, Carol de Lyon

  3. Louis, I am so sorry for your loss for you, your children and grandchildren . Fran will forever live in your hearts and memories of the amazing person she was. Her legacy will live on to all who knew her and loved her. My wife Brenda said what a great honor it was to know her. She always sat next to her at our Xmas dinners every year in the restaurant. They shared
many stories together. There is a special place in heaven for Fran. Till you meet again. JUNIOR LOMBARDI.
