Hugh J. Flanagan, 84, of Northvale, NJ, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, January 24, 2025. Beloved husband of MaryEllen (nee Neville). Loving father of Tara Henrici (Steven), Hugh Ryan Flanagan (Candice) and Megan Lewis (Marc). Proud grandfather of Steven, Brendan (Lauren), Sarah, Caroline, Mariah, Fiona and Liam. Loving brother of Patricia Traudt and the late Sarah Flanagan and Imelda Flanagan. Dear brother-in-law of Denise and Garry McElroy and Michael and Ilva Neville and the late John Neville.
Hugh was a US Coast Guard Veteran. He was a lineman for NY Telephone in the Bronx for many years before retiring. Hugh was a member of the Northvale American Legion Post 366 and the Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council 9021.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hugh’s memory to the Northvale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 196 Firenze Street, Northvale, NJ 07647 would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve known Hugh for 60years. Best man at his & MaryEllen wedding. He was quiet, strong & a great guy. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Joan & I are very sad about his passing.
