Thomas R. Gillon

Thomas R. Gillon, 72, of Northvale, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Beloved husband of Joyce Gillon (nee LaSala).  Loving father of Christopher Gillon and his wife Betsy of Norwood.  Adored grandfather of Thomas, Venera, Sophia and Hunter.  Dearest brother of Roger his wife Jeanne of Beachwood, NJ and brother-in-law of Salvatore LaSala and wife Barbara of Thousand Oaks, CA and Anthony and wife Patricia of Waretown, NJ.

Tom was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam. He retired from PSE&G after 38 years of service. Tom was a member of the Northvale American Legion Post 366.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 PM.

Muriel Gawlik

Muriel Gawlik (nee Sassa), 87, a longtime resident of Bergenfield, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014. Beloved wife of the late John Gawlik. Loving mother of Thomas and his wife Diane of Closter.  Adored grandmother of Kelly, Kristen and Keri.

Muriel retired from Mutual of NY after many years of service as an office manager. She was an active supporter of SMA Fathers and it’s ministries of Tenafly.

Craig Rosen

Craig Rosen, 30, of Northvale, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014. He was the beloved son of Carmen Large and the late Barry Rosen of Northvale.  Cherished twin brother of Crystal Rosen of Lodi.  Devoted father of Jayden and Robert James, who were his world.  Adored nephew of Mercedes and Steven Minch of Emerson.  Dearest cousin of Nicole Large. Adored fiancée of Brittany Mescall.  He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Craig was a cook for Aviator Sports in Brooklyn, NY. A devoted father, Craig was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.  He will be dearly missed.

Norma R. Paillex

Norma R. Paillex(nee Kohler), 77, of Northvale, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Louis Paillex.  Loving mother of Bruce Paillex of New York City and Lisa Paillex Griffin of Franklin Park. Dear grandmother of David and Marc.  She is also survived by dear cousin Barbara Stingle Abraham, a brother Werner Kohler, and other loving relatives and friends. John “Jack” Maloney

John “Jack” Maloney, 79, of Tappan, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Smith).  Loving father of Anne Bondulich and husband John of Tappan and John Maloney and wife Kathy of Orangeburg.  Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Kellyanne, John Patrick, Jack, Ryan and Allison.  Dearest brother of Michael Maloney of Pearl River. He was also adored by his many nieces and nephews.

Jack was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Detective for the New York City Police Department for 20 years before retiring.  He later became a security manager for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Piermont.

Jack loved fine art and travel, especially to Paris. His favorite place was Naples, Florida where he spent many wonderful years with his family watching the sunset.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Pizzi Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Sinead Helen Murphy

Sinead Helen Murphy, age 11, of Orangeburg, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Cherished daughter of Stephen and Susan Murphy.  Adored sister of Fiona, Siobhan and Colleen.  Loving granddaughter of Maurice and Helen Murphy and Bridie and the late Tom Davis. Beloved niece of many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends both in the United States, Ireland and England.  She will also be dearly missed by all the wonderful nurses, doctors and medical staff that have been there for her in times of need.

Helen Lewis

LEWIS, Helen (nee Drew) of Melbourne FL, formally of Norwood passed away on Sunday, Sep. 14, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Jack H. Lewis, who died on Feb. 9, 2014. Daniel Butler

Daniel Butler, 79, died Saturday September 6, 2014 at NYU Langone Medical Center with family & loved ones by his side.

 

He was born on July 4, 1935 in New York City, son of the late Marie and Paul Butler. Daniel was the youngest of six children, Marguarite Durkee-Niehaus, Paul Butler, Michael Butler, Rosemarie McGettigan, and Ann Stisser. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary, & their five children; Sharon Nulty, Sabrina Durrigan (husband Wayne), Denise Catalano (husband Carmine), Danny Butler, & Jennifer Laurent (husband David.) He was the proud papa of eight grandchildren; Danielle & Brendan Nulty; Jeffery & Alyssa Durrigan; Valerie, Melanie & Kristie Catalano; Jaden Laurent; & his beloved dog Fluffy.

 

Daniel served in the US Navy from 1952-1956, serving in the Korean War. He was an ornamental ironworker for Local 580, NY, NY, helping to build many of our most cherished landmarks. He also served as a proud member of the Elks Lodge #877. Daniel enjoyed life to the fullest, spending his time surrounded by family & friends. He delighted in visiting his home in Florida, boating, & being actively involved with his church.

 

Services honoring Daniel will be held at Pizzi Funeral Home 120 Paris Ave Northvale, NJ 07647 on Tuesday September 9, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-9. Funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine’s Church in Blauvelt, NY on Wednesday September 10, 2014 at 10am.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

 

Daniel radiated a powerful light with a passion for living & strength beyond recognition. He will be missed greatly by all those who have been blessed to know him.

Luis A. Lopez, 95, of Northvale, passed away at home on Friday, August 29, 2014.  Beloved husband of the late Lilia.  Loving father of Lilia Marrero and husband Jesus of Northvale, Ruben Lopez and wife Aida of White Plains, NY and Luis Lopez and wife Luisa of Royal Palm, FL.   Cherished grandfather of Debra, Luis, David, Ruben Jr., Kenny, Lizzette, Mark, Ruben and Josephine.  Adored great-grandfather of 16.

James L. De Rosa

James L. De Rosa, 63, of Northvale, died on Monday, August 25, 2014. Beloved husband of Karin (nee Eicher). Devoted father of Steven DeRosa and his wife Vivian, and Kristine DeRosa. Pre-deceased by his loving parents Frank and Jessie De Rosa.  Also survived by his dear mother-in-law Inge Eicher, brother-in-law Karl Eicher, sister-in-law Lisa Tusveld and husband Jon and late sister-in-law Linda Leider. Other survivors include a niece and nephew and 3 cousins, Pati Cain, Linda Sanford, and James Wisner.  Mr. DeRosa was a chemical engineer for Burns and Roe in Oradell. He grew up in Bergenfield and went to Columbia University where he earned his bachelors and master of science degrees in chemical engineering. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and kindness. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday at 10:00 AM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050) with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park , Paramus.
