Harvey Chambers Quigley

Harvey Chambers Quigley, 82, of Teaneck, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013.  Harvey was born in Jersey City on April 9, 1931 to the late Robert Leo and Dorothy Snyder Quigley.He was a proud, decorated combat veteran of the US Marine Corps, 1st Marine Div, serving during the Korean War.  He spent his career working in both the NY Financial Market, NYC and industrial securities at Tele-Measurements, Clifton, where he retired.  Harvey was a life member of the Marine Corp League Gooney Bird Detachment, New Milford, VFW Post 7128, Cooperstown, American Legion Post 170, Rochelle Park and the American Society for Industrial Security, North Jersey Branch.

Harvey is survived by his brother Robert K. and his wife Vera of Cooperstown, NY.  Cherished uncle of his goddaughter, Patsy Soule and her husband David of Cooperstown, Michael and his wife Jennifer of Summerfield, NC and Kevin and his wife Debbie of Shillington, PA.  Loving great-uncle of Brittany, Griffin, Katie, Matthew, Abbey, Michael, Devin and Jason.   Harvey was predeceased by his nephew, James P. Quigley, son of Bob and Vera.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug 29 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM.

John W. “Jack” Cleary

CLEARY, John W. (Jack), of Edgewater, NJ died on August 2, 2013 after a five-year battle with cancer.  Jack was 65 and is survived by his cherished wife Heather (née Raskin) and two loving children, Zachary Cleary and Danika (Matt) Laszuk; two grandchildren, Asha and Marlo, all of Brooklyn; and three siblings:  Joseph Cleary of Irving, TX; James Cleary of Denver, CO; and Eileen Sellers of Bowling Brook, Ill.  He was predeceased by his brother William J. Cleary, Jr.

An avid student, Jack studied at St Peter’s Prep and College and Georgetown University, and at the time of his death he had been accepted to Columbia University MBA program.

Jack was a visionary and entrepreneur.  He left his position as a stockbroker at Bear Stearns to work in communications in the Philippines, China, and the United Arab Emirates, ultimately forming and serving as CEO of Next Generation Networks, a global wireless communications company that provides multimedia broadband and security solutions in developing and under-served communities around the world.  Jack was most proud of the fact that NGN brought educational opportunities to those who would not otherwise have this access.

Catherine DeStefano

Catherine DeStafano, 91, a longtime resident of Teaneck and Beachwood, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013.  Cherished aunt of Kathryn Winterhalter and Phyllis Gregory.  Also survived by many loving relatives.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah with visiting from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Anthony R. Gladys McGuire Bower

Gladys McGuire Bower (nee Georgia) of the Township of Washington, NJ, formerly of Northvale and Upper Saddle River died on July 30, 2013.  She was 86 and is survived by four of her five children:  Kathleen (Theodore) Gershon of Princeton Junction, NJ; Nancy (Louis) Sheffler of Harrington Park, NJ; Louise (Thomas) Quinn of Sparta, NJ; and James (Stephen Coy) McGuire, Jr. of Boston, MA; six grandchildren: Brian (Carol), Michael (Kate), and Jason (Tiffany) Gershon; Cara Marsh Sheffler; and Casey and Kathryn Quinn; seven great-grandsons; her sister Florence Larkin; son-in-law E. Barrett Prettyman, Jr.; two step-children: Susan (Ben) Parker of Aurora, CO and Richard (Jacqueline) Bower of Danville, CA; five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two beloved husbands, former Northvale Mayor and Bergen County Freeholder James F. McGuire to whom she was married for 32 years and Harvey S. Bower to whom she was married for almost 20 years. She was also predeceased by her cherished youngest daughter, Dr. Noreen McGuire Prettyman of Washington, DC.

After retiring from the Bergen County Department of Community Development, Gladys continued to be actively involved in charity work, crocheting blankets and making quilts and donating them to local hospitals.  She was a life-long member of St. Anthony’s parish in Northvale, NJ and was active in the James F. McGuire Memorial Senior Center, where she served as a Board Member for many years.

Susan E. Sibbio

Susan E. Sibbio (nee Dellaguardia), 86, a longtime resident of Nanuet, died at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.  Beloved wife of the late Louis.  Devoted mother of Susan and Danny Cooke of Nanuet and Louis, Jr. and Melissa of Land O’ Lakes, FL.  Cherished grandmother of Lauren, Sean, Sofia and Amelia.  Predeceased by her sister, Lucy Porcelli and two brothers, Dominick and John and his wife Diane.  Mrs. Sibbio is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.  She was a dressmaker for 20 years for Rubenstein and Horowitz in the Bronx, but her real life’s work was her family.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale, NJ with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet.  Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Concetta Lohse, 86, formerly a longtime resident of Harrington Park, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013.  Beloved wife of the late Fred.  Devoted mother of John of Rahway, NJ, Robert of Albany, NY, Marie Best of Fredericksburg, VA and Harold of Harrington Park.  Adored grandmother of Jessica and David and great-grandmother of Gwendolyn.

Mrs. Lohse was a registered nurse at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood for many years before retiring.

Ann Marie Troyano (nee Pace), 56, of Harrington Park, on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Beloved wife of Lawrence. Also survived by Robert and Mary Pace of Hackettstown and Thomas and Cindy Pace of Montvale, as well as many other loving relatives. Pre-deceased by her parents, Frank and Vera Pace. Frank A. Franklin, M.D.

Frank A. Franklin, M.D., 84, of Norwood since 1957, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy.  Loving father of Karen McSherry and her husband Brian of Norwood, Theresa Franklin-Bond and her husband David of Northvale, Dr. James and his wife Annette of Nutley, John and his wife Carol of North Caldwell, RoseMarie Franklin and her wife Jill Scully of Succasunna and Francine Hoyt and her husband David of Glen Rock.  Cherished grandfather of Katie, Danielle, Matthew, Claire, John Anthony, Victoria, Kayla, Hannah, Jacob, Elizabeth and Elena.  Dear brother of the late Rose DeBenedetto.  Also survived by Catherine “Kitty” Schappert, his longtime office manager and dear family friend.

Dr. Franklin practiced family and occupational medicine in the Northern Valley
since 1957 and had just retired in March of this year. He was one of the founding physicians of Pascack Valley Hospital and for a number of years he served as Chief of Staff. Dr. Franklin also served the local communities by serving as borough physician for many years.

Besides his love of family, Dr. Franklin enjoyed owning and racing standardbred horses, mainly pacers.  He and his wife Dorothy loved to travel, especially to Rome, Italy where he received his medical degree.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 10 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.  Visiting hours are Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.
