Therese R. of Pearl River, NY passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 14, 1933. She worked as a registered nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY retiring 14 years ago. She was avid world traveler.

She is the devoted mother of Patrice Fitzsimons (Robert) of Pearl River, NY, Maureen Kahl (Martin) of Glendale, NY, Danielle McMurrough of New York, NY and Christine McMurrough of Glendale, NY. Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Julie, Christie, Katherine, Emily, Grace, Patrick and Amanda. She is also survived by 9 loving great grandchildren. Dear sister of Joseph Carroll and the late Frances Kelly.

Joseph R. Albanese

Joseph, 93, of Northvale, died on Monday, July 31, 2017. Joseph was born, raised, and died in Northvale. Joseph is predeceased by his wife Flora and leaves behind his four daughters and sons-in-law, Marianne and Mike DiLuzio of Tappan, Kathleen and Robert Miller of Tappan, Denise and Robert Wagner of River Vale, and Linda and Kenneth Kraus of River Vale. Joseph has many grandchildren, Melissa, Kristina, Jenna (husband Stephen), Andrew, Joseph, Eric, Michael, Olivia, and Lauren, and one surviving brother, Leonard (Lenny) Albanese of Closter. Joseph also leaves behind a big extended family that he remained close to throughout his life, and many cherished friends and neighbors.
Joseph was a first generation American, one of six children born to Sicilian immigrants the late Leonardo and Concetta. He came of age at the dawn of World War II and proudly served his country in the 987th Field Artillery Battalion from D-Day to VE-Day, surviving through many major battles such as the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion in Northvale for 63 years. Shortly after returning from the war, he and his brothers Lenny and the late Charles and Anthony started their masonry and construction business. Soon after, he married the late Flora (née Menti) and they started their family. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Grace Tirelli and Antoinette Hallahan.
Throughout his life, he spent many of his summers at his cabin in the Catskills with his family. He valued the simple things in life- family, friendship, nature, and enjoyed hunting and golfing. He had an avid social life, and his absence is deeply felt by his family and friends.

Louis H. Benaquista

Louis H. Benaquista, 88, of Norwood, N.J. and Boynton Beach, Fl., passed away peacefully on July 31, 2017 at his home with his family after a short illness.
He was born in Norwood and lived his whole life in the town. He was a principal and founder of Benaquista Construction Co. His life work will live on in the quality of the work he has done, his amazing artwork, his devotion, and the love of his family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard Bridge Building Division. Our fondest memories are the numerous vacations at Walt Disney World with his whole family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lois (Keiper), his children and spouses, Louis and Deborah, Alan and Suzanne, and Lisa O’Connell and Brian, his grandchildren Louis, Dr. Anthony, Adrienne, and Michael, A.J. (Kim), Nicholas (Samantha), Christina, Caitlin, Cristin and Nina, and great-grandchildren Gianna, Makayla, and Parker. He also is survived be his sister Jeanette Schrader and husband Robert. Visitation at Pizzi Funeral Home at 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Friday, August 4, 2017. A mass celebrating his life will be on Saturday, August 5, 10 AM, at The Immaculate Conception Church, Norwood, with internment at Garden of Memories Mausoleum, Washington Township. Donations to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers are appreciated.

Alice M. Bracchi Snyder

 

Alice M. Bracchi Snyder, 84, of Harrington Park, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Beloved wife of Kenneth W. Snyder. Loving mother of Craig Snyder and his wife Susan of Mukilteo, WA and MaryAlice Snyder Farella and her husband Frank of Harrington Park. Adored grandmother of Connor and Kenny. Cherished daughter of the late Angelo Bracchi and Alice Bracchi of Surf City. Dearest sister of the late Andrew Bracchi.

Alice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church.

Dorinda Corvino Colman, 63, of River Vale, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Dermot Colman. Cherished sister of Connie Ajamian and her husband Alan of Chester. Dearest aunt of Alan and Ashley.

Joseph Iorio

 

Joseph Iorio, 95, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on July 4, 2017.

Joe was born in Castel Ruggero, Italy to Maria and Annibale Iorio. He immigrated to the United States in 1947 settling in Brooklyn, NY where he met the love of his life, Mary, whom he wed in 1951 and to whom he was married for 65 years. Mary predeceased him 10 months ago.

Joe and Mary started a family in Brooklyn before moving to Flushing, Queens. In 1979 they once again relocated, this time to Florida. They lived in many areas including Coconut Creek and Fort Lauderdale, before moving to Port St. Lucie 12 years ago.

Joe enjoyed bicycling, gardening, nature, the outdoors, animals and fixing just about anything. He was the loving father of Lee McGarvey, the late MaryAnn Gallucci (Frank), Neil Iorio (Ruthie), Joseph Iorio (Leslie), and Donna Baum (Steven); devoted grandfather of Grace Iorio, Michelle Iorio, Thomas Iorio, Anthony Iorio, Brianna Iorio, Ciara Iorio, Christopher Gallucci (Victoria), and Jessica Baum; adored great grandfather of Mia Grace Iorio. He was the brother of dearly loved siblings, the late Costanza and late Joe Villani, the late Rino and late Livia Iorio, Gemma Bernaudo (the late Frank) Tilde (the late Dominick) DeSiervi, Prospero Iorio and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family is eternally grateful to Joe’s wonderful neighbors and friends in Lake Charles and his angel and amazing friend Luciene Ambo who cared for him until the end.

Wherever he lived he loved and helped his neighbors and they loved him back.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. John’s RC Church in Piermont, NY with interment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, NY.

Carl T. Buscher

 

Carl T. Buscher, recently of Framingham, MA and formerly of Brick and Norwood, N.J. passed away peacefully at home with his wife and family at his side on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Dearest husband of almost sixty years to his wife and soul-mate Ann (nee Cappadona); loving father of Elizabeth Demartini and husband Douglas of Warwick, N.Y., Peter C. Buscher of West New York and Toms River, N.J., and Kathryn Demartini and husband John of Charlton, MA; proud grandfather of Steven Demartini and his wife Elizabeth, Joseph, Justin, and Carolyn Demartini, and Adriana Gubich and her husband Gilson; great-grandfather (Opa) of Ava, Isabella, and Maverick; brother of Marianne Reiman of Ringwood, N.J. In addition to his family, Carl had many long-time close friends who will miss him dearly. He will also be remembered as the “Cookie Monster” to his favorite four-legged family pets.

Mr. Buscher began a 32-year distinguished career as an association executive and editor, which included positions with the Builders Association of Northern New Jersey, the Northwest Bergen Board of Realtors, the Maryland Builders Association, the New Jersey Builders Association, and the New Jersey Dental Society as the managing editor of the Journal of Dentistry. He was a long-time member of the American Society of Association Executives.

A veteran Scouter for 60 years, Mr. Buscher was a former Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, District Commissioner, and member of the Executive Board and President’s Advisory Council of the Bergen County Boy Scout Council. He was the founder of the Palisades Historic Trails in 1976, and also received numerous awards including the Silver Beaver, the Bronze Pelican, and the St. George Medal.

A Past Grand Knight of Immaculate Conception Council 9021, Knights of Columbus, Past Faithful Navigator of Msgr. Charles G. McCorristin Assembly 1289, 4th degree, and former District Deputy to the Supreme Knight, Mr. Buscher was also an active member of the K of C Color Corps. He led K of C fund-raising campaigns to construct chapels at two Boy Scout camps in northern New Jersey.

As a forty-eight year resident of Norwood, Carl served his community as past President of the Board of Health, vice-president of the Board of Education, member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Chairman of the Cable Television Committee.

Funeral services will be held at Pizzi Funeral Home Northvale, on Tuesday, July 11 from 4 – 8 p.m. A mass to celebrate Carl’s life will be at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Northvale on Wednesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at Garden of Memories in Washington Township will follow. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Buscher asked that donations in his memory be made to the Knights of Columbus, 211 Summit Street, Norwood, N.J. 07648.

Michael M. Harrison

Michael M. Harrison, 53, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Norwood, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 30, 2017. Michael was predeceased by his loving mother Patricia and brother Brian Joseph “BJ”. Mike was the beloved son of Harry Harrison of Westwood and cherished brother of Patti Harrison of Westwood and twin brother Patrick and his girlfriend Susan Furman of Norwood.

Michael was a gifted carpenter, an avid golfer and a true animal lover. Although his passing leaves his family devastated, they take solace in knowing Michael is at home in heaven with Mom and BJ.

Maria Diaz (nee Fernandez), 65, of Harrington Park, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Beloved wife of Fabian. Devoted mother of Manuel E. Diaz and Loriana Diaz. Cherished sister of Lydia Garbarino and her husband Charles of Livingston.

Maria was a registered nurse. She worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC for many years before retiring.
