Carl T. Buscher

 

Carl T. Buscher, recently of Framingham, MA and formerly of Brick and Norwood, N.J. passed away peacefully at home with his wife and family at his side on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Dearest husband of almost sixty years to his wife and soul-mate Ann (nee Cappadona); loving father of Elizabeth Demartini and husband Douglas of Warwick, N.Y., Peter C. Buscher of West New York and Toms River, N.J., and Kathryn Demartini and husband John of Charlton, MA; proud grandfather of Steven Demartini and his wife Elizabeth, Joseph, Justin, and Carolyn Demartini, and Adriana Gubich and her husband Gilson; great-grandfather (Opa) of Ava, Isabella, and Maverick; brother of Marianne Reiman of Ringwood, N.J. In addition to his family, Carl had many long-time close friends who will miss him dearly. He will also be remembered as the “Cookie Monster” to his favorite four-legged family pets.

Mr. Buscher began a 32-year distinguished career as an association executive and editor, which included positions with the Builders Association of Northern New Jersey, the Northwest Bergen Board of Realtors, the Maryland Builders Association, the New Jersey Builders Association, and the New Jersey Dental Society as the managing editor of the Journal of Dentistry. He was a long-time member of the American Society of Association Executives.

A veteran Scouter for 60 years, Mr. Buscher was a former Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, District Commissioner, and member of the Executive Board and President’s Advisory Council of the Bergen County Boy Scout Council. He was the founder of the Palisades Historic Trails in 1976, and also received numerous awards including the Silver Beaver, the Bronze Pelican, and the St. George Medal.

A Past Grand Knight of Immaculate Conception Council 9021, Knights of Columbus, Past Faithful Navigator of Msgr. Charles G. McCorristin Assembly 1289, 4th degree, and former District Deputy to the Supreme Knight, Mr. Buscher was also an active member of the K of C Color Corps. He led K of C fund-raising campaigns to construct chapels at two Boy Scout camps in northern New Jersey.

As a forty-eight year resident of Norwood, Carl served his community as past President of the Board of Health, vice-president of the Board of Education, member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Chairman of the Cable Television Committee.

Funeral services will be held at Pizzi Funeral Home Northvale, on Tuesday, July 11 from 4 – 8 p.m. A mass to celebrate Carl’s life will be at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Northvale on Wednesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at Garden of Memories in Washington Township will follow. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Buscher asked that donations in his memory be made to the Knights of Columbus, 211 Summit Street, Norwood, N.J. 07648.

Michael M. Harrison

Michael M. Harrison, 53, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Norwood, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 30, 2017. Michael was predeceased by his loving mother Patricia and brother Brian Joseph “BJ”. Mike was the beloved son of Harry Harrison of Westwood and cherished brother of Patti Harrison of Westwood and twin brother Patrick and his girlfriend Susan Furman of Norwood.

Michael was a gifted carpenter, an avid golfer and a true animal lover. Although his passing leaves his family devastated, they take solace in knowing Michael is at home in heaven with Mom and BJ.

Champaben G. Patel

 

Champaben G. Patel, 73, of Norwood, died on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Survived by her children, Mita and husband Kalpesh of Norwood, Harsha and husband Dinesh of Norwood and Hemant and wife Manisha of India. Loving grandmother of Nihar, Om, Nirali and Nikita.

Maria Diaz (nee Fernandez), 65, of Harrington Park, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Beloved wife of Fabian. Devoted mother of Manuel E. Diaz and Loriana Diaz. Cherished sister of Lydia Garbarino and her husband Charles of Livingston.

Maria was a registered nurse. She worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC for many years before retiring.

Roy “Sonny” Martorana

Roy “Sonny” Martorana, 88, of Pearl River, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Beloved husband of Rose (nee Conforto). Loving father of John and wife Frances of Sloatsburg, Rosalie Caruso and husband Stephen of River Vale, Alfred and wife Dina of West Milford, NJ and Tina Murray of Pearl River. Adored grandfather of Nicole, Stephen II, Sonni, Johnny, Jean Marie, Marisa, Andrea, Deanna, Joseph and Alyssa. Great-grandfather of Poppy and Penny.

Sonny was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Con Edison after over 43 years of service. He also was a member of the Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176 in Blauvelt.

Robert E. Lee

 

Robert E. Lee, 77, of Nanuet, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Beloved husband of Martha M. Lee (nee Warren). Devoted father of Barbara Lee (Pete Troiano) of Yonkers, A.J. Lee (wife, Lauren) of River Vale and Kenny Lee (Meredith Loftus) of Orangeburg. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Kenneth and Geraldine Lee, Richard and Virginia Lee, Donna Lee, Barry and Patricia Lee and the late Barbara Famulare. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Robert was a police officer for the NYPD, 46th Precinct and was PBA Delegate for 10 years. After retiring he worked in private security. He served in the US Army Reserves. Robert was a parishioner of St. Aedan’s Church, Pearl River, a member of the Elks Lodge 2041, Nanuet and the Sons of Italy Lodge 2176, Blauvelt.

Theodora Staudter

 

Theodora Staudter (nee Appel), 87, of Norwood, passed away at home on Friday, June 16, 2017. Theodora was born in Germany and came to the US in 1954. Beloved wife of Heinz of 62 years. Loving mother of Heidi Wildrick and her husband Donald of Park Ridge. Cherished grandmother, Oma, of Kristen.

Theodora graduated from The Parisian Beauty Academy in 1965 as a hairdresser, a profession she truly loved. She last worked at” Celebrity” in Waldwick for many years. She had many longtime customers, and was dedicated to them. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her excellent cooking, and delicious baked goods.

Robert Huntley Hardie

Robert Huntley Hardie, 81, of Norwood, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017. Beloved husband of Anne B. (nee Barrett). Loving brother of Lynn Shea of Avon-By-the-Sea. Dearest brother-in-law of Sr. Patricia Barrett, FMM, of Roslyn, NY and Mary Dunne of Athlone, Ireland. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Within his family circle, Bob is especially remembered for his Scottish wit, humor and positive vision of life.

Robert was a banker who retired from Citizens National Bank in Englewood. He was treasurer of the Northern Valley Rotary. Bob was also District Treasurer of Rotary District 79 for many years.

Mary Ann Mione

 

Mary Ann Mione (nee Stantini), 69, of Blauvelt, passed away at home on Monday, June 12, 2017. She is survived by her devoted children, her daughter Kimberly Aponte and husband Michael of Warwick and son Michael Mione of Blauvelt. Cherished grandmother of Samantha and Alexandra. Dearest sister-in-law of Vivian Tomasello. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Prior to working at Aluf Plastics Mary Ann had been a dental hygienist. She was a member of the Romanesque Lodge and was a parishioner of St. Catharine’s Church, both in Blauvelt.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 26 at 11:00 AM at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Blauvelt.

Joseph J. Esposito

Joseph J Esposito, 94, of Northvale, NJ passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017.

Joseph was born in Sheepshead Bay, NY. Early on he embraced the religious life of a Franciscan Monk at Graymoor in Garrison NY. During World War II he left to join the National Guard. After his service he went on to pursue a career in Industrial Design with Lippencott & Margules, NYC. He later moved to Northvale, NJ where he was very active in the community. Along with spearheading the sports program in town including little league baseball and football he also raised funds to help build St. Anthony’s Church. He was a Third degree Knights of Columbus member, Nanuet NY and active in Church choir, St. Anthony’s, Nanuet, NY.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anna Nancy of Northvale, his four children: Joseph, Thomas, Barbara, Carolyn and seven grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed and loved by his family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church (Chapel), Tappan, NY on Saturday, June 24th at 1:00 pm.
