Claire A. Whelan

Claire A. Whelan (nee Curran), 92, of Township of Washington, formerly of Lyndhurst, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Robert G. Whelan. Cherished mother of Robert T. Whelan and his wife Donnamarie of Upper Saddle River. Loving aunt of three nieces and one nephew. Dear sister of the late Timothy Curran, Helen Smith, Virginia McCallum and Adele Mead.

Claire was the purchasing agent for the administrator for the Township of Washington for 19 years before retiring in 1989. She was also President of Miriam Gemmel Auxiliary of the Children’s Aid and Adoption Society from 1961-1963.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 Noon at Annunciation RC Church, Paramus with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

Charles P. Keshian

Charles P. Keshian, 87, of Northvale, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016.  Beloved husband of Alice (nee Nishanian). Devoted father of Paul Keshian of NYC. Predeceased by his daughter, Brooke, son, Allen and brother, Andy.

Charles spent his entire career in the advertising promotions industry both owning his own business as well as working as a manufacturer’s representative.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 Noon to 2 PM with a funeral service to be held at 2 PM.

John G. Henrici

John G. Henrici, 81, of Norwood, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Cosseta). Loving father of John Gregg of Florida, NY, Steven and his wife Tara of Northvale and the late Theresa. Devoted grandfather of Steven, Brendan and Sarah.  Dear brother of the late Francis and Walter.

John was a US Army veteran. He was a printer who retired from Handford Brown Company in Fort Lee after 47 years of service. John loved nothing more than his family, especially his grandchildren, and never missed any of their games or functions. He was a coach in Norwood for many years for both the Immaculate Conception basketball team as well as Little League baseball. He will be dearly missed.

Rita T. Recca (nee D’Agosta), 88, of Englewood, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Michael J. Recca. Loving mother of Laura Magaraci and husband John of Norwood, Michael A. Recca of Englewood, Diane Vibert and husband David of Milford, PA, Robert and wife Vera of River Vale and Karen Princiotta and husband Daniel Sirakovsky of Orangeburg, NY. Rita was a devoted mother and homemaker and will be dearly missed.

Anna K. Samela (nee Tarantino), 85, of Tappan, formerly of Norwalk, CT and the Bronx, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.  Beloved wife of the late Dominick.  Loving mother of Daniel Samela, Stacey Samela, both of Tappan, and the late Gail Pacifico.  Adored grandmother of Dominick, Anna and Nicholas.  Dearest sister of Barbara Monteleone and her husband Fred of Orangeburg and the late Jean Raio.   Also survived by her brother-in-law Lou Raio and many loving nieces and nephews.

She’ll be happily remembered cooking for her family, her love of music that she passed on to all her children and the joy of a soft recliner and old black and white movies.

Nicolina Fabyanski, 96, of Northvale, formerly of Washington Township, passed away on February 20, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Fabyanski and the late Jerry Corino. Michael Diceglie

Michael Diceglie, of Norwood NJ, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family at the age of 69 after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Born and raised in Totowa, NJ; he was a resident of Norwood for the last 28 years.

Michael was full of life and the heart of the family.  He had a gift of gab, a knack for telling a story and the ability to make friends wherever he went.  He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Jennifer (nee Benvenuto).  He is also survived by his son, Christopher, and his wife , Jamie Marie and his daughter Jamie Beth Diceglie.  He also leaves behind his brother, Frank DeCeglie; his sister, Joanne Dagnino, and her husband, Dennis: and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his father and mother, Michael and Jennie, and his siblings, Grace Jansen and George DeCeglie.

Michael worked for Adalet Corporation as director of Sales and Marketing and at Chase Manhattan Bank – Real Estate Division.

He coached the Norwood Girls Softball Team and was also Director of Norwood Baseball and Softball Leagues. He was a member of the Electronic Young Tigers Association.  Michael was also a trustee for the Old Tappan High School Athletic Club and responsible for scholarship fundraising.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 3pm to 7pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ.  His funeral mass will be held at noon on Monday at St. Anthony’s RC Church, 199 Walnut Street, Northvale, NJ.

Eileen Neff

Eileen Neff, 78, of South Nyack, died on February 22, 2016 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY, after a short and unexpected illness, with her loving family by her side.  She is survived by her best friend and husband of 53 years, Thomas E. Neff, her daughters Jennifer Grennan and Neal of Tappan, NY and Caryn Neff of Valley Cottage, NY.  She leaves behind her most cherished grandchildren Paige, Luke and Quinn Grennan, her sister, Mary Burke of Little Ferry, NJ and her brother, John F. McCarthy of Juno Beach, FL as well as her nieces and nephews.

 

Eileen was born in the Bronx on June 18, 1937 to John and Julia McCarthy (nee Burns).  She spent much of her childhood in the parish of Holy Spirit, Bronx, NY and graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan.  Eileen lived in Pearl River for fifteen years before moving to South Nyack where she enjoyed the Hudson River view.  She retired as a Teaching Assistant from the South Orangetown Central School District.  Her greatest joy was found in the company of her family – most especially her treasured grandchildren.  Her love of laughter and her unique insight will be deeply missed.

Rita E. Lonie

Rita E. Lonie (nee DeFedele), 83, of Northvale, passed away at home on Friday, February 19, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Colin.  Cherished mother of Maria Masillo and her husband Richard of Oviedo, FL. Adored grandmother of Ricky and Chrissy. Dearest aunt of Joseph, Vincent, David and Paul. Also survived by her Godson, Louis Spinozzi.  Pre deceased by her sister Frances Doherty and brothers, John DeFedele and Joseph DeFedele.

Rita retired from Snitow- Show Consultants in NYC where she was Vice President. She was an active member of the Northvale Golden Agers and McGuire Senior Center, which she was also on the Board of Trustees. Rita was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Northvale and was a Eucharistic Minister and worked Bingo for many years.  Always the life of the party, Rita will be missed by all who knew her.

Edward W. Casinover

Edward W. Casinover, 69, born in Astoria, NY, formerly of Pearl River, NY and Chicago, IL, and recently retired in Pasadena, MD to be with his grandsons, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.  Beloved husband of Jacqueline (nee Rutigliano).  Devoted father of Edward J. Casinover and his wife Christine of Severn, MD and Christina Sicuro and her husband Michael of Bloomingdale, IL.  Adored grandfather and favorite person of Anthony and Elliott, his little buddies.  Dearest brother of Patricia Favata and husband Anthony and William Casinover, loving Uncle and beloved friend to many.

Edward was a US Army Veteran and Patriot.  He retired from Key Bank, Westmont, IL, where he was an International Banker.
