George Brueck

On January 19th 2017 George Brueck, a 45 year resident of Harrington Park, went home to be with his Lord. Born in New York City in 1942 to German immigrants, he was a graduate of New York University, was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis and had a 35 year career as a Manager of the New York Telephone company. George was a lifetime member of the Harrington Park Ambulance Corps, where he volunteered as a Captain as well as an ambulance driver. While still working, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, where he served for 15 years as a member of the team of “Greyheads.” George and his loving wife of 52 years, Rosanna, were members of the Community Gospel Church in Northvale. George is survived by his wife Rosanna, his sister Suzanne of Orlando, Florida, many nieces and nephews, as well as his four children – Cristina of Monroe, NY, Elizabeth of Englewood, NJ, Paul and his wife Rosalin of Tuckahoe, NY and Michael and his wife Erin of Darien, CT. He was also a proud grandfather to his four grandchildren Jessica, Ryan, Ashley and Harlan. A wake will be held at the Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale on Sunday January 22nd from 2-5pm. A funeral service will take place on Monday January 23rd at the Community Gospel Church in Northvale at 11am.

Rocchitella “Roxanne” Fanelli

 

Rocchitella “Roxanne” Fanelli (nee Motta), 80, of Norwood, formerly of the Bronx, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017. Roxanne was born on July 7, 1936 in Laurenzana, Potenza, Italy and in 1958 she came to the U.S. after marrying her beloved late husband John R. Fanelli.

Roxanne was the loving mother to Frank A. Fanelli and his wife Cristina of Norwood, NJ and Salvatore Fanelli and his wife Marianne of Campbell Hall, NY. Cherished grandmother of Anthony, Virginia, John and Francesca. Dearest sister of Maria Zarrella and her late husband Giuseppe, Carmela Arena and her husband Michael, Josephine Rusciano and her husband Vincent, Margaret Mazza and her husband Giuseppe, John Motta and his wife Vera, Maria Rosaria Ribaudo and her husband Tony. Devoted sister-in-law of Florence Fanelli and her late husband Joseph, and Jerry Fanelli and his wife Marie, and aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Roxanne worked as a cafeteria aid at Junior High School 80 in the Bronx, NY. Once she moved to New Jersey in 1981, she worked as a cafeteria aid at Burns and Roe in Oradell, New Jersey. She also worked at Ingleside Nursing Home of Old Tappan, NJ as a dietary aid up until its closing. Upon her retirement, Roxanne worked as a crossing guard for over 20 years in Norwood, NJ near Holy Family Catholic Academy. Roxanne’s passions were cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Norwood, NJ with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories, Washington Twp.

Barbara S. Deitmaring

 

Barbara S. Deitmaring (nee Carlson), 62, of Norwood, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017. Beloved wife of Thomas F. Deitmaring. Adored mother of Melissa and Robert. Dear sister of the late Rosemarie Walker. Barbara began her career in education teaching music as well as giving private piano lessons. Later becoming the district supervisor of elementary education for the West New York Board of Education. She dedicated her life to the promotion of music and education blessing many with a passion for learning. Joseph P. Diglio

Joseph P. Diglio, 78, of Orangeburg, passed away at home on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Beloved husband of Rita (nee Perna). Devoted father of Virginia Bonardi and her husband Richard of Blauvelt and Anthony Diglio and his wife Denise of West Nyack. Adored grandfather of Joseph, Alexandra and Anthony. Loving brother of the late Camille Marinaccio and Joanne Del Vecchio. Dear brother-in-law of Angela Natelli and her husband Vincent and Marianne Alvino.

Joe dedicated his life to his family and his country. He was a US Army Veteran. He faithfully served the City of New York on the NYPD for over 32 years. Upon retirement he was a Rockland County Sheriff for 15 years. He most enjoyed time at home with his family and working out at the gym. He will be dearly missed.

Olga Vretenar Mulroy

Olga Vretenar Mulroy (nee Mulinkova), of Northvale, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Beloved wife of Thomas Mulroy. Cherished mother of Jana Vretenar of East Rutherford and adored grandmother of Hana.

Olga escaped from Communist Czechoslovakia several months before the president at the time, Alexander Dubcek, loosened up the borders just prior to the Prague Spring and subsequent Warsaw Pact invasion.

Olga had been a CAD operator for various engineering firms. She was a member of the Slovak Country Club in Sullivan County, NY.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan, NY.

Philip Karp

Philip Karp, 91, of Northvale, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Catherine. Loving father of Alek and wife Grace of Kinnelon, Denis of California and Catherine McLean and husband James of Washington State. Cherished grandfather of Sierra, Nicholas and Jake. Dearest brother of the late Stanley and Olga.

Philip was a WWII Navy veteran. Before retiring he was a tool and die maker for Swingline in Queens, NY.

Biaggio “Tom” Fauci

Biaggio “Tom” Fauci, 84, of Stirling, NJ, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Victoria. Loving father of John Fauci of WV, Francine Campora of River Vale and Marie Cerbasi and husband George of CO. Proud grandfather of Henry R. Campora and Christine M. Campora. Dearest brother of Frank Fauci, Jr of Westwood and the late Frances Alteri.

Tom was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from AGFA Company in Northvale. He was a hard-working, dedicated family man and enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and fishing with friends. LBI was his favorite vacation spot along with playing the “nickel” slots at AC and bingo at the Veterans Home. He loved to make people smile!

Jack L. Munday

Jack L. Munday, 98, of Sanford, NC, formerly of Norwood, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Mickey. Loving father of Jack L. Munday, Jr. of Syracuse, NY, Nancy J. Munday of Northvale, and Scott Munday and wife Terri of Sanford, NC. Cherished grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of eight. Dear brother of Albert, 100, of San Diego, CA.

Jack was a WWII Army Veteran who served in the Pacific in Okinawa and Saipan and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. He retired from the Bronx Savings Bank. He was an active member of the Norwood EMS and was a founding member of the Norwood Presbyterian Church. Jack was loved by all who knew him and will be remembered as a funny, caring, loving, kind gentleman with an amazing sense of humor.

Eugene W. Low

Eugene W. Low, 82, of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Old Tappan, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Mary Lou for 54 years. Loving father of Douglas and wife Laurie, Mark and wife Kelly and Jean Marie Reickman. Adored grandfather of Jenna Monid. Dearest brother of William Low and his wife Linda.

Gene was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a life member and Ex-Chief of the Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department.

Michael V. Stiglianese

Michael V. Stiglianese, 87, of Closter, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Beloved husband of Rosalie (nee Campanella). Devoted father of Susan Major of Ramsey and Nancy Kalmus and husband Robert of Port Washington, NY. Adored grandfather of Alexandra, Sabrina, Kimberly, Michael, Kristin and the late Kenneth. Dear brother of Dorothy D’Amelio of Scarsdale, NY.

Michael received his Bachelor and Master degrees at NYU, served in the United States Army and was Vice-President at Bankers Trust Company in NYC where he worked for over 30 years. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Closter. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Michael was also an avid fan of the Knicks and Jets.
