Bernard A. Rogan

Bernard Anthony Rogan, 80, a longtime resident of Tappan, NY, passed away Wednesday morning December 2, 2015.  Born in the Bronx on February 17, 1935, he was one of four sons born to Edward and Lillian Rogan.

 

In 1963, he married Bridget Kennedy from Sligo. Bernie worked in the Bronx Supreme Court as a court officer for 32 years, after serving in the Navy, and before enjoying 18 wonderful years of retirement with the love of his life. He was an avid golfer who also loved to read and to continuously break his own record for completion of the daily crossword puzzle.

 

He and Bridget raised four sons in Tappan, N.Y.  Bernie leaves behind his wife, Bridget, four sons, Mike, Ed, Brian and John, seven grandchildren Sean, Eamon, Sydney, Caitlin, Connor, Brady and Ceili, and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his brother Sean and his sisters-in-law Susan and Ellen.

 

Visitation will be at the Pizzi Funeral Home located at 120 Paris Avenue in Northvale NJ on Friday from 4 to 8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church located at 120 Kings Highway in Tappan on Saturday at 10 AM. The burial service will be private.

C. Bernard Snyder

Clinton Bernard “Bernie” Snyder, of Norwood, passed into internal life on Saturday, November 28, 2015. He was 89 years old.

Bernie was born in Hoboken, NJ to Clinton and Tess Snyder. He was a proud WWII Veteran and member of the United States Navy. Bernie graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and served as a history teacher as well as an employee of the State of NJ in the social services office.

Devoted husband of the late Patricia Snyder. Bernie is survived by his cherished children, Susan and Michael Clifford of Old Tappan, Craig and Karen Snyder of Sparta and Cynthia Snyder of Norwood. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kelly and Kevin Wilson, Michael and Katie Clifford, Craig and Kara Snyder, Kristen Snyder, Jonathan Sabella, Kaitlin and Kevin Van Saders, Kevin and Megan Snyder and Ryan Snyder. Adored great-grandfather of Reese, Patrick, Ellie and James.

Bernie, an avid reader, was also a devoted fan of the NY Mets, swing music and Al Jolsen. He will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10 AM at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood with interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting hours are Monday 4-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Leonard L. Sullivan

Leonard “Lenny” Sullivan died suddenly on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2015.  Lenny was born in Nyack, NY on October 19, 1965 and was a lifelong resident of Tappan, NY.  Lenny graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1983.  Lenny was a master carpenter and a trained stationary engineer who was an active member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #68.   Most recently, Lenny worked as Manager of Facilities for the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University in Palisades, NY.

Lenny served his community as a proud member, and former chief of the Tappan Fire Department for over thirty years.  He also served as a past president of the Orangetown Fire Chiefs’ Council. Lenny recently joined the Knights of Columbus and was a devoted Catholic and lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.

Lenny married the love of his life Barbara (Quinn) Sullivan on October 18, 1996.

Lenny is survived by his loving wife, Barbara and his three beautiful daughters, Tara, Erin and Deirdre who meant the world to him. Lenny is also survived by his parents, Patrick and Kathleen (Giblin) Sullivan of Tappan NY, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Theresa (Moran) Sullivan of New City, NY, Brian and Cindy (Roper) Sullivan of Eagan, MN and Joseph and Jennifer (O’Brien) Sullivan of Tappan, NY.    He is also survived by his mother-in-law Noreen Quinn of Tappan, NY, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann Marie and Kenneth Hallock of Tappan, NY, Michael and Helen (Baer) Quinn of West Nyack, NY and Mary and Frank Shine of Pearl River, NY.

Always with a smile on his face, Lenny will be most remembered for his kindness and generosity to others.  When something was broken or if anyone needed help or advice, Lenny was the first person his friends and family would call.  He was always first to lend a helping hand and he gave freely of his time and many talents.  Those who were fortunate to befriend Lenny had a loyal and trusted friend for life.  He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all of his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, countless number of friends and anyone lucky enough to have known him.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 29th 1-8pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. (201-767-3050).  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, November 30th at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, NY.  Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY.

Jack W. Lewis

Jack W. Lewis, 61, of Bergenfield, formerly of Harrington Park and Norwood, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015. Jack was preceded by his parents Jack and Helen Lewis.  Loving brother of Patricia Sims of Melbourne, FL and Robert Lewis of Melbourne, FL. Dearest uncle of Tyrel, Cory, and Casey Keenan. He is also survived by Aunts, Marge,Carol,and Joyce  and uncles Kenny and Artie and many cousins. Dear friends Jennifer Baker and her daughter Asia (who knew Jack as grandpa) Vicki Morin and her three children Allajah, Logan,and Chole. Jack had many friends who will be missing him. He was a kind hearted, gentle, giving man who always had a smile.
Jack was a member of the Harrington Park Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He also worked in the borough of Harrington Park on the DPW in the Recycling Center.

David P. Alfis, Sr.

David P. Alfis, Sr., 69, of Northvale, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Beloved husband of Dolores (nee DeRienzo). Devoted father of David Jr. of NYC and Tracy Littlewood and her husband Thomas of Arlington, TN. Cherished grandfather of Thomas, Tyler, Todd and Troy. Loving brother of Pauline and Barbara and uncle of Alexis, Dustin and Sally. Dear brother-in-law of Lenny DeRienzo.

Dave was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam. He retired from Carpenters Local 15 in Hackensack and also operated his own construction company for many years. He was a dedicated life member of the Northvale Fire Department, and belonged to the Lions Club. Dave will be missed by all who knew him.

Helen Palumbo

Helen Palumbo (nee O’Rourke), 93, of Sparkill, NY, formerly of Tappan, NY  and Queens, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015. Beloved wife of the late John. Loving mother of Patricia and John Cahill of Norwood, NJ, Ellen and David Cahill of Blauvelt, NY, Carol Carroll of Pearl River, NY, Richard Palumbo of Queens and Philip Palumbo of Queens. Adored grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 10.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Michael P. McGillicuddy

Michael P. McGillicuddy, 69, of Pearl River, formerly of Tappan and Northvale, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015. Cherished father of Michael of Pearl River, James and his wife Dawn Marie of New Windsor and Bernadette of Dumont, NJ. Adored grandfather of James. Dearest brother of Carole Barkley and the late Henry, Dorothy, John and George.

Michael was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a machinist for Chromalloy in Orangeburg for over 25 years and was a member of the Northvale American Legion.

Linda J. Lanzaro

Linda J. Lanzaro (nee Giacomazza), 75, of Northvale, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Beloved wife of George R. Lanzaro, Sr. Cherished mother of George Jr. and his wife Lisa of Old Tappan and Daniel and his wife Deborah of Cresskill. Adored grandmother of Daniel, Gino, Michael, Angelina, Robert, Jason and Christopher. Dearest sister of Leonora, Jean, Vincent, Andrew and Peter. She was predeceased by her loving daughter Linda Marie Mercado and son-in-law William Mercado.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Yvonne Kim-Langella

Yvonne Kim-Langella also known as Yvonne Trammell-Dunn, 83 of Hackensack passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015. She is the daughter of the late Claudia Cepeda (Hackensack) and the late Nathaniel Trammell, Sr.

Miguel Cepeda, Yvonne’s step-father, was an integral part of Yvonne’s life and supported her efforts to achieve her prized nursing education in New York. Yvonne worked as a private duty nurse for many years in New York and New Jersey hospitals. Yvonne also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician. During Yvonne’s career she worked for the Village Voice Newspaper in New York, and for a New York Medical Publication Company writing and editing medical journal articles, and she contributed to the creative design of the publications.

Yvonne’s hobbies and passions included listening to classical music, opera and traditional jazz. Yvonne had a special talent for writing and art. Yvonne was also an avid movie buff. Yvonne also took great pride in sponsoring children through the Save the Children Foundation by donating money, clothing and school supplies to improve their quality of life.

Yvonne is survived by three (3) sons and one (1) daughter; Noel Dunn Jr. of New Milford, NJ; Nicholas Dunn of Hackensack, NJ; Nelson Dunn Sr. of Redondo Beach, CA, and Nancy Dunn Johnson of Las Vegas, NV.

Yvonne is also survived by seven (7) grandchildren and three (3) great grandchildren; Nelson Dunn Jr.; Paul Alexander Dunn I; Christopher Dunn; Benjamin “Larry” Johnson II; Lauren Johnson Blackmon; Heather Dunn; Tallon Dunn; Kayla Ingram; Alanna Blackmon, and Christopher Blackmon Jr.

Yvonne is also survived by nephews, Bruce Trammell Sr. and Michael Trammell, and nieces, Regina Trammell Earl and Allison Trammell.

A memorial service will take place on December 5, 2015 at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, 260 Central Avenue, Hackensack, NJ. Interment at the Hackensack Cemetery, 323 Hackensack Avenue, Hackensack, NJ. The family will receive friends immediately following at the church.

 

 

Margaret R. Fauci

Margaret R. Fauci (nee Martini), 58, of Demarest passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.  Born on January 7, 1957, she worked most of her life as an Administrative Assistant to three directors and two managers for Best Foods Corp. and Dasault Falcon Jet.  She was the beloved daughter of Millie D’Amico of Farmingdale. Step-sister of James D’Amico of Farmingdale, Daniel D’Amico of Northvale and Keith D’Amico of Little Egg Harbor.
