Francis Thomas Maloney

 

Francis Thomas Maloney 78, of Tappan, NY, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 following a long illness. He was born on November 21, 1938 in Manhattan to Julia and Francis Maloney. He married the love of his life Loretta Curtin on June 30, 1962 at The Church of the Sacred Heart, in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. Francis had a long and distinguished career in education beginning as an English teacher with the New York City Public Schools and retiring after 40 years as a school administrator. His passion and unparalleled commitment to learning enabled him to help shape the future of the many students he served. Francis earned an academic scholarship to Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, he received his bachelor’s degree with honors from Fordham University and holds two master’s degrees in English and School Administration from Yeshiva and Pace University, respectively. Francis was devoted to his family, faith and community and served his country with distinction as a United States Marines Reservist. A literature and running enthusiast, he could often be seen running through town, book or newspaper in hand. Francis was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, New York and a member of The Tappantown Historical Society. Francis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Loretta (nee Curtin) and his loving children Julianne Maloney (Nelson Torres), Caseyanne Bombassei (Jim), Stephen Maloney (Alexis) and Deirdre Humer (Ron), brothers John and Michael Maloney; his 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Devon, Connor, Ryan, Jack, Caitlin, Logan, and Madison. Francis was predeceased by his parents and youngest brother Stephen.

The family will receive friends & family on Wednesday, November 1st at Pizzi Funeral Home 120 Paris Avenue Northvale, NJ from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Francis on Thursday, November 2nd at 11 am at Our Lady of Sacred Heart 120 Kings Highway Tappan, NY with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery.

Agatino J. Cacciola

 

Agatino J. Cacciola, 88, of Tappan, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Beloved husband of Agnes R. (nee DeLuca). Devoted father of Camille Paolino of Chatham, NJ and Joseph Cacciola and wife Sandra of Wilbraham, MA. Cherished grandfather of Jenna Morin and husband David, Nicholas Charles and his husband Arthur, Paul Cacciola and fiancé Jordan Zarcone and Jamie Paolino. Loving brother of Ann Gaeta and Daniel Cacciola and wife Nancy. Dear brother-in-law of Joseph DeLuca, his companion Marie and his family.
Agatino was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a barber at West Point Military Academy for over 27 years. He was also a member of the Goshen Gremlins, a radio-controlled airplane club, and the Sons of Italy in Blauvelt.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories, Washington Township, NJ. Visiting hours are Sunday 3-6 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Thomas J. Wentland

  Thomas Joseph Wentland passed away October 17 at the Bronx VA hospital. He was born to Cyril F. Wentland and Pauline E. Sawinski at Nyack Hospital on July 28, 1949.      He was a life long resident of Rockland County, having lived in Camp Shanks, Nanuet and Palisades. He attended Nanuet public schools and graduated in 1967. Tommy was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany and Vietnam with the artillery unit from 1969-1971.    He was a mechanical “super genius” who spent countless hours toiling away at carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and classic car connoisseur. He will always be remembered for his dedicated service and volunteer work with the John M. Perry Post and the Northvale V.F.W..     Thomas is predeceased by his mother Pauline “Pearl”, father Cyril “Cy” and his sister Cynthia “Cindy”. He is survived by his longtime companion Muriel “Mickey” McDonald, daughter Kari, son Matthew, step-daughters, Jude Navarro and Deborah Castro, “Poppy’ of Jessica, Ryan, Eric and Thomas, brothers Bobby and Wally, sister in law Suzanne, uncle Sonny Ostrom and an extensive amount of nieces, nephews, extended family and loyal friends.     Services to be held at Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale, N.J. On Friday October 20 from 5-7:30 pm with a funeral service at 7:30. Burial at Rockland Cemetery on Saturday October 28. A celebration of his life will follow burial next Saturday at the John M. Perry Post in Sparkill, N.Y.

Remo D. Bartucci

 

Remo D. Bartucci, 85, of Tappan, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 14, 2017. He was born in Gesuiti, Italy on November 1, 1931. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn (nee Tarallo). Cherished father of Gerard Bartucci and wife Carole of Hillsdale and Terese Murphy and husband Peter of Nanuet. Adored grandfather of Catherine, Victoria, Brianna and Alison. Beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Remo was a cabinet maker for Hausmann Industries in Northvale for over 25 years, retiring as the shop manager. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 18 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla. Visiting hours are Tuesday, October 17 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Frances Rita Lombino

Frances Rita Lombino (nee DeConca), 87, of Harrington Park, formerly of the Bronx, passed away home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Eustachio “Lulu” Lombino. Devoted mother of Ronald and Joanne DiPaola and her husband Douglas, both of Harrington Park. Adored grandmother of Anthony and Francesca. She was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.

Frances was a medical secretary for Dr. Frank Pintauro in the Bronx for over 30 years. She also worked in the admitting dept. at Pelham Bay General Hospital for many years. Frances will be forever remembered as a hard worker and a wonderful and devoted mother.

John E. Johnson

John E. Johnson, 57, of Englewood, born in Arlington, VA on October 28, 1959, passed away on September 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.

John grew up in Teaneck, NJ, worked in New York City, and later moved to Englewood, NJ.

John was well known for his ardent support of the New York Rangers, NY Giants, Ferrari, and Arsenal FC. He loved listening to rock music of all genres and attending concerts. These interests were only exceeded by his love of family and friends.

John is survived by his parents, Mary and Jack Johnson, siblings Robert (Joann), Carol Hermalyn (Roy), and Susan. A niece, seven nephews and a great-niece also survive him.

John is predeceased by his brother Stephen.

Harriet M. Moran

 

Harriet Mary Moran (nee Hickey), of Old Tappan, joined her beloved husband and best friend, Albert S. Moran, Sr. in eternal rest on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Beloved and devoted mother of Albert S. Moran, Jr. and his wife Lori, Christopher T. Moran and his wife Teresa, and Rebecca Moran Day. Loving grandmother of Ryan Ashley Moran, Corinne Harriet Day and Griffin Donald Albert Day. Dear sister of Thomas Hickey and the late John Hickey. Born to the late John and Rebecca (Kingston) Hickey in the Kingsbridge Section of the Bronx on December 22, 1936.

Harriet was the past president of the Irish American Social Club of Bergen County and had been active in the promotion and preservation of Irish History and Culture. Opening her home and heart to children of Northern Ireland during the turmoil and violence of the 1980’s through “Project Children”, Harriet always looked for ways to make the world a better place, even if it was one child at a time.

Ferdinand “Fred” Monteleone

 

 

Ferdinand “Fred” Monteleone, 78 of Orangeburg, NY and Pompano Beach, FL died on Thursday, October 5th 2017. He was born in the Bronx on January 2, 1939 to the late Arnold and Emilia Monteleone. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Tarantino). Adored father of Neil and wife Lora of Old Tappan and daughter Debra Ramsay and husband Richard Jr. of Stony Point.

Although he was everyone’s Pepa, he was the cherished grandfather of his “Delightful Five”, Christopher, Jessica-Lee and her husband Joseph Ruggiero, Fred, Nicole and Gabriella. Dear brother of Joseph and wife Marian and Angela Gleason and husband Neil and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A self-made man, Fred was the owner of N&V International, a waste paper recycling company, and Fred Monteleone Stable. His passions were his family, his horses, his pigeons and his work. He was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was larger than life and had a contagious smile.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 11am at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Blauvelt NY with entombment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale NY. Visiting hours are Monday 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Pizzi Funeral Home 120 Paris Ave. Northvale, NJ.

Madeline C. Italiano, 76, of Tappan, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Italiano, Jr. Loving mother of Penny Cruz and husband Felipe of New Hempstead, Joseph III of Tappan and Andrew and wife Kimberly of Belvidere, NJ. Adored grandmother of Carly, Lauren and Kalie. Dearest sister of Gloria Cerbasi, James Cavalli and wife Maria and Lorraine Daube.

Madeline was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loyal employee of ShopRite in Northvale for over 25 years and will be dearly missed.
