John R. Fanelli

John R. Fanelli, 84, of Norwood, formerly of the Bronx, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.  Beloved husband of Roxanne (nee Motta).  Loving father of Frank A. Fanelli and his wife Cristina of Norwood, and Salvatore Fanelli and his wife Marianne of Campbell Hall, NY.  Cherished grandfather of Anthony, Virginia, John, and Francesca.  Dearest brother of Joseph Fanelli and his wife Florence, and Jerry Fanelli and his wife Marie.  Devoted brother-in-law of Maria Zarrella and her late husband Giuseppe, Carmela Arena and her husband Michael, Josephine Rusciano and her husband Vincent, Margaret Mazza and her husband Giuseppe, John Motta and his wife Vera, Maria Rosaria Ribaudo and her husband Tony, and uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, John was retired from the New York Transit Authority after 30+ years of dedicated work.  Upon moving to New Jersey he enjoyed reading and was a crossing guard in Norwood for over 20 years.  John was also a dedicated usher for Immaculate Conception Church in Norwood for over 25 years.  He loved being surrounded by his family and watching the New York Yankees.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 20, at 9:30AM at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories, Washington Twp.  Visiting hours are Friday, December 19, from 4PM to 9PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Alma M. Austin

Alma M. Austin (nee Meehan), 93, of New City, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014. Beloved wife of the late William Vincent Austin. Loving mother of William Austin and wife Emily of Columbus, OH and Jeanne Colonna and husband John of Harriman. Adored grandmother of Tricia Butler, Amy Ruggiero, Hope Dean, Elizabeth Colonna, Holly Austin and John Colonna. Cherished great-grandmother of Clarissa, Kate, Isabella, Stephen, Richard and Hudson.
Alma was a senior account clerk for the County of Rockland for over 30 years.

George E. Delury

George E. Delury, 79, of Northvale, formerly of Closter, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.  Survived by his wife Anne Arlene Delury.  Loving father of Maureen Marcason and her husband Jeffry of Northvale.  Cherished grandfather of Richard Delury and wife Kimberly, Kathleen Marcason and Thomas Marcason.  Dear brother of James and his wife Katherine and Arthur, both of Long Island and the late Charles, Richard and Robert.

George was a USMC Veteran.  Before retiring he was a bundler for the Metropolitan News in Bronx, NY.  He was an active member of the Northvale American Legion Post 366.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday 4:00 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.  Visitation will be from 1-4 PM.

Vito C. Annunziata

Vito C. Annunziata, 63, of Closter, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014.  Beloved husband of Linda (nee Guarcello).  Devoted father of Danielle and Christopher.  Dear brother of Gaetano, Louise, Margaret, Luigi, Carlo and Maria and their families.

Vito was a custodian at Tenakill School in Closter for many years.  He loved to bowl, sing and cook and was a member of the Closter Elks Lodge 2304.

Carmen I. Large’

Carmen I. Large’ , 60, of Northvale, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014.  Devoted mother of Crystal Rosen and son-in-law Carson Austin, the late Craig Rosen and daughter-in-law Brittany Mescall. Cherished sister of Mercedes Large’-Minch and her husband Steven.  Loving Grandmother to Jayden & RJ, dearest Aunt to Nicole Large’. Also predeceased by her parents, Paul and Wilma Large’, her brother Willi and her ex-husband Barry Rosen.

Carmen was a waitress at Charlie Brown’s in Old Tappan. Prior to that she worked at the Northvale Diner as manager/waitress for many years.  She will be remembered for her contagious and distinct laughter, her love of horses and wolves, riding her motorcycle and having a good time with family and friends.  Carmen will be dearly missed by all.

Thomas Edward Hams

Thomas Edward Hams, 86 of Brookside Village, Harrington Park passed away peacefully on November 23, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Park Ridge Memory Care Home.

Born on August 21, 1928 in Union City, NJ, Tom lived in Union City until 1977 when he moved his family to Harrington Park.  After graduating from Union Hill High School, Tom entered Local 29 of the NJ Plaster’s Union.  In 1950 he proudly served his country in the US Army, 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.  After his discharge he served 27 years as a Union City Police Officer.  Tom was a member of the Community Church in Harrington Park.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Hansen), his son Thomas Hams II of Gilbert, AZ, his daughters, Barbara Ribar of Fort Myers, FL and Marilyn Stankiewicz of Harrington Park, and his son-in-law Jack Stankiewicz.  Tom’s greatest joy in life was his five Grandsons, Thomas Hams III, Christopher Stankiewicz, Robert Ribar, Nathaniel Hams, and Bryan Stankiewicz.   Tom also leaves behind his sister-in-law Helen Hams and brother- in-law Roy Meyer and three very special nieces.  Tom was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Hams and his son-in-law Bob Ribar and daughter in law Wendy Hams, and sister-in-law Evelyn Hansen.

Visitation Friday, November 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave. Northvale, NJ.  Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 29th at 11:30 a.m. at the Community Church in Harrington Park, Harriet Ave., Harrington Park, NJ, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ.  In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to the Community Church in Harrington Park, P.O. John E. Marquart

John E. Marquart, 82, of Northvale, passed away at home on Saturday, November 22, 2014.  Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Amodeo).  Devoted father of Lisa Furman of Monroe, NY, Joanie Milde and husband William of Monroe, NY and John Marquart of Charleston, SC.  Cherished grandfather of Michael Furman and wife Brittney, Meghan Furman, Matthew and Timothy Milde and was looking forward to being a great-grandfather this spring.  Also survived by a loving extended family of dear in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

John was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Before retiring he was a draftsman for Roanwell Corp in NYC.  A devoted family man, he enjoyed time spent with relatives and friends as well as the occasional trips to Atlantic City and Pennsylvania.
