Frank Buonocore, Jr.

   Frank Buonocore, Jr. “Don”, 89, a lifelong resident of Walnut Street in Northvale, who wintered in West Palm Beach, FL, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012.  Beloved husband of the late Rosalie (nee Dugo).  Devoted father of Susan Fazio of Park Ridge, Linda Newton and her husband James of Saddle River, and Frank J. Buonocore of Park Ridge.  Cherished grandfather of Joseph, Michael, and Jeffrey Fazio, and Lisa, Richard, Jr., Andrea, and Christopher Bruno.  Dearest brother of Agnes Albanese of Northvale and Jim Buonocore of New Kingston, NY.  Predeceased by his son-in-law Joseph A. Fazio and his brothers George and Robert.

   Mr. Buonocore was a proud US Navy Veteran of WWII.  He was an active life member and ex-chief of the Northvale Volunteer Fire Department, serving for over 65 years.  He retired from Hydrotherm Inc. in Northvale, where he worked for over 30 years.

   Don will always be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend, a tireless volunteer, and a great baseball player.

   A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.  Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.

Maureen E. Hoy

   Maureen E. Hoy (nee Lally), 81, of Northvale, formerly of Saugerties, NY, died on Friday, June 22, 2012.  Beloved wife of Robert Hoy and predeceased by her first husband, Leonard Sudol.  Devoted mother of Kathleen and her partner Rebecca of St. Petersburg, FL, Patricia and Patrick McVeigh of Menlo Park, CA, Elizabeth and John Cusack of Northvale, Robert and Michelle Sudol of Parsippany, Robert and Michele Sudol of Parsippany, Michael Sudol of Northvale, Joan Marie Sudol of Bergenfield,  and Margaret and Al Alkhawam of Northvale (her niece).  Loving Grandmother of Eric, Jessica, Russell,  Kaitlyn, Brendan, Colin, Jeremy, Timothy, Meghan, Erin, and Emily and Anthony, as well as Etaf, Rami, and Heba. 

   Mrs. Hoy is also predeceased by her sister, Joan.  She was a legal stenographer for many years and also worked  for the Bloomfield Board of Education and Holy Angels  Academy in Tenafly.  She was a parishioner  and a Eucharistic Minister  of St. Anthony’s RC Church in Northvale and belonged to the James F. McGuire Sr. Center, in Northvale, and was a Columbiette in Saugerties, NY. 

   A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tappan, NY with interment to follow at St. Cashmir Cemetery, Kulpmont, PA.  Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral  Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.

Antoinette M. Aiello

   Antoinette M. Aiello (nee Sansevere), 87, of Union City, formerly of Hoboken, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Dominick.  Devoted mother of Ralph C. Aiello, Sr. and his wife Maria of Old Tappan.  Cherished grandmother of Ralph C. Aiello, Jr. and his wife Roseann, and Melissa Aiello Strickland and her husband Gregory.  Loving great-grandmother of Emmalina Rose Aiello.

   Mrs. Aiello was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s RC  Church, Union City and belonged to its Senior Citizens Club.

Carolyn M. Marconi

   Carolyn M. Marconi (nee Hauptman) 76, a longtime Northvale resident , died on Tuesday June 19, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Jerry.  Devoted mother of Charles and Linda of Oradell, Michael and Luci Marconi of Upper Saddle River, Jean Marie and  Daryl Cerbasi of Northvale,  and Jerry and Donna Marconi of Bergenfield.   She is also predeceased by her daughter Marie Walegir.  Adoring grandmother of Kevin, Dawn, Jessica, Eric, Steven, Daniel, Jennifer, Christine, Jake, and Lily, and greatgrandmother of Dominic, Frankie, Victoria, Aidan, Liam, Olivia, Julia, and Jayden.  Dear sister of Robert Miller of Florida.    Mrs. Marconi’s greatest accomplishment was making a home for her family.  A funeral service will be held at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home on Thursday  at 10 AM with interment  to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, in Farmingdale, NY.  Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Anthony R. Julia Gebbia

 

   Julia Gebbia (nee Toscano), 72, of Pearl River, on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late John S. Gebbia.  Loving mother of John S. Gebbia, III and his girlfriend Chandra; and Donna Gebbia, all of Pearl River.  Adored grandmother of John S., IV and Stephanie.  Cherished sister of Linda Curcio and her husband Pompeo, also of Pearl River.  Dear sister-in-law of Gina Gebbia, and Maria Loria and her husband Ralph.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

   Before retiring, Mrs. Gebbia was a highly respected, award-winning teacher for the New York City Public School System.

James E. Maher

   James E. Maher “Jim”, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012, a resident of Old Tappan for 38 years, graduated from Fordham University and the Ohio State University Executive Training Program.  He was married to his wife, Irene, for 54 years and was a devoted father of Michael, married to Barbara; Kevin, married to Maria; Mary Hill, married to Gregg; Anne LaMastra, married to Steve; and Matthew, married to Molly.  Jim has 14 grandchildren:  James, Christopher and Sabrina Maher; Chloe, Hope and Erin Maher; Christian, Johanna and Jessica Hill; Gwyneth, Connor and Phineas LaMastra; and Allie and Megan Maher.  Brother of Br. Edward Maher and Therese, married to James.  Jim was employed by Standard Register, Systematic, and Unified Data Products before he became president and part owner of Hygrade Printing until he retired.

   Jim was a man of wit and charm whose charity, volunteer spirit and selfless commitment was truly exceptional.  He was a dedicated member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church for many years, serving in many capacities, including Eucharistic Minister for 32 years, high school youth group leader for 5 years, Finance Committee Chairman for 19 years, CCD grade school teacher for 4 years, and head usher at the 8 AM mass.  Jim was elected and served as a Councilman in Old Tappan from 1996-2001 as a member of the Old Tappan Party, and he was instrumental in improving the town parks, particularly Stone Point Park.  He was chairman of the borough of Old Tappan’s recreation commission for 10 years, providing exceptional leadership to the borough’s athletic, social and cultural programs.  Jim happily gave much of his time to the youth of Old Tappan as coach and officer for Old Tappan Baseball, youth soccer and youth basketball leagues.  He also served as secretary and president of the Old Tappan Lion’s Club and generously gave his time to drive the senior’s van.  He also initiated the Senior Advisory Board, whose purpose was to educate seniors in the town and assist them with any problems they might have.

Mary Wilson

   Mary Wilson, 74, of Pearl River, formerly of Throgs Neck, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012.   Beloved wife of the late Richard.  Loving sister of Joan Nelson of Pearl River, Jerry Murphy of California and the late Kathleen, Patricia and Jimmy.  She will be sorely missed by her 15 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.

   Before retiring, Mary worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over 40 years.  She was a parishioner of St. Aedan’s RC Church in Pearl River.

Dominick Labozzetta

   Dominick Labozzetta, 91, of Nanuet, passed away at home on Sunday, June 2, 2012.  Beloved husband of the late Frances (nee Gasbarre).  Loving father of Anthony of Manhattan, Vincent of Bethel, CT and Grace Reidy and her husband Daniel of Closter.  Cherished grandfather of Chris, Jon, Kim, Kelly, Lauren, Matthew, Tadd, Alison, Madeline and John.  Adored great-grandfather of Caitlin, Alyson Grace and Amitai.

   Dominick was an Army Veteran of WWII.  He was a self-employed businessman in the construction trade.

Joseph P. Riccardi

   Joseph Peter Riccardi, 87, a long time Northvale resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and two daughters on Tuesday May 29, 2012. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Joan (nee Massa). Devoted father of Linda Shlemon and her husband Brian of Doylestown, PA, and Denise Bigelow and her husband, William of Easton, CT. Loving Papa of Christopher, Ryan, Jessica, Joseph, Allison and Davis. Dear brother of his five sisters and four brothers.

   A proud World War II veteran, he attended F.I.T. in NYC and had a long career in the garment industry. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s RC Church in Northvale and a member of VFW Post 162.

Marie DiGiacomo

   Marie F.Di Giacomo (nee Lella), 97, of Homosassa, Fl, formerly a longtime Bergenfield resident, died on Thursday, May 31, 2012.  Devoted mother of Daniel Di Giacomo and his wife Theresa of Jupiter, FL, and Lucille Gibson and her husband Michael  of Homosassa, FL.  Dearest grandmother of Daniella, Dean, Michelle, and Leanne and great-grandmother of Daniel and Samantha.

   Mrs. Di Giacomo was a seamstress and also worked for Scholastic Magazines in Englewood Cliffs until she retired at age 70. She belonged to the Bergenfield Sr. Citizens.

   A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday at Noon at St. John’s RC Church in Bergenfield with entombment to follow at Garden of Memories in Washington Township.
